Botcon 2009: Suggested location(s) and theme(s)

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

I wouldn't mind it being here in seattle washington and then they could add transformers display to the scfi museum (which they have been talking about for awhile) located here just in time for the 25th anniversary and they could also do a special showing tf2 at seattle center imax theater as well.

Say, that would be an awesome idea. Someone should let the Botcon peoples know about this. Still, the distance being a problem for the vendors is an issue to consider. And who made the suggestion for the convention center near Pikes Place? There is an awesome shop there that sells various collectible stuff from various fandoms. Seattle is just all around a great city.

Detroit would have been fun for this last Botcon. I wonder if they even considered that...

I can safely say that I would not suggest the city near where I live, that being Sioux Falls, SD. I wouldn't suggest that place for anything or on anyone. *shudder*

That would have been little old me who suggested it and might you be talking about Golden age collectibles ? http://www.goldenagecollectables.com/

I still have a $50.00 gift certificate to spend there from a while back.

Put it in Baltimore. It's hangin' out right in the middle of the east coast, near D.C......

Plus, me have casinoes, amusement parks and strip clubs all at reasonable distances. Our 3 Targets, 4 Walmarts, and 1 Toys R Us are all easy to find too! You know you wanna hit up Madtown.

Seriously though, I could see St. Loius or the Twin Cities. Both are far enough away from Cincy, but still close for most. I wouldn't rule out Atlanta either, GI Joe has been there, and many southeasterners have been waiting for the con to come close to them. Although, the common theory could be correct, Rhode Island, Detroit, or Philly. It would be nice if the con were going on at the same place some of the filming were taking place.

Being a southeasterner, I'd love to see it in Atlanta, though I figure Memphis might be more likely, just because of its more centralized location. New Orleans, however, would be Badass. I so want to drag all you Seibs people over to Bourbon Street and let the good times roll, as they say (though they say it in French).

Even St Louis would be a blessing for me as far as travel times.

Hmmm :-? I think NY City is going to beat you in terms of number of bars within a 5 mile radius. And I'd love it to be in NY City, but I don't think it will be because of the hotel prices.

I still think it should be in Rhonde Island with the movie coming out. Hasbro made it awesome there.

Well, if it's in New Orleans or Memphis or around there, you and Katie will have to show Jaime and I some hot spots, we'll return the favor if it is in Philly.

I actually did a search to see wgho would be closer to the PA Convention denter (the most likely Philly spot) and it looks like Counteropunch and I both clock in around 45 minutes away, of course Prime Evil would be a little closer.

Another Chicago Botcon would mean a big party at Ryan's!

Ryan buys the beer AND the famous Chicago deep dish pizzas then! I would like to visit Chicago as I've never been there or had one of their deep dish pizzas, you can order them online and have them shipped in a few days with dry ice but it's not the same as being there of course.

A convention out here in Seattle would still be great though.

I wouldn't mind seeing it in Orlando or Tampa(since i'm one hour north of Tampa and Two hours west of Orlando), But with the sequel coming out next year it might hit LA around the time of the premiere.

I hope it's at least a few weeks or a month before the premiere...LA would put it in reach of me better than the east coast or even mid west, I'm not going to rule out any location just yet but if it's on the west coast then I'm pretty much sold on it...I wonder when they'll make the announcement :???:

I've been to LA. Not too impressed, and I can safely say that I don't want to go there.

Does anyone else have a place that they definitely [b] do not[/] want Botcon to be held at? My vote for nay: L.A., maybe Chicago, Florida (no city, just the state in general), um.... that's all I got.

I am not too impressed with LA either. I'd vote for Orlando, there is even an IMAX theater on the same street as the Hotels and convention center. I would go anywhere east of the Mississippi as long as it is a safe city which Cinci was not.

Downtown Philly would be a friggen trip!

Last time I was there I saw a fireman punch a homeless guy.

Actually, I didn't think most of Cincy was that bad. However, my wife and I did want to check out where the Lutheran church was, the address said in the 1100 block of Race Street. The walk was a bit further than we thought and by the time we arrived at the church we were squarely in the ghetto. Our return trip took a lot less time....

The great thing about Center City Philly around the Convention Center is how much it changes if you go just a block or 2 away. One time I had a few hours to kill before catching a train. I went just a couple blocks down in one direction and I was in Chinatown. Then I walked back and went a few blocks in another direction and ended up in what my friend Jen refers to as the "Gayborhood" Good thing is that a bunch of us are familiar with the area so we can show everyone a few sites if things end up there.

Interesting to note that Philly is actually the hometown of the TFW site owner, although you wouldn't know it by the Yankees hat he was sporting at the Con.

I'm glad they have been talking about it! I've never loved a sci-fi universe more than Transformers. They'd better find some room in there for TF. If I knew they had a new TF section, I'd definately make a point to re-visit the Sci-Fi museum next time I travel back home.

Sounds like a lot of us want a Seattle Botcon. Unfortunately, sounds like we won't get one either due to travel distance for dealers. :-(

Either way, I'm vowing to go next year.

I live in LA and there are tons of things to do here, and being a former film critic I can take a lot of people to special events, but personally I wouldn't want it here. I like the idea of going to a new city/States each time there is a Botcon so I can actually see the entire United States. I mean I do not think I would have ever been to Kentucky otherwise. Cincy was nice but they had it in Ohio twice now and a new State would be a refreshing change. Although Rhode Island was cool and Boston was incredibly close and easy to get to. So if they have it in Rhode Island again I plan to go visit Boston and I want to see the Hasbro Tour this time. Which reminds me, do not have classes and the Hasbro tour at the same time/day or else people cannot go. Oh and do they ever ask us fans to vote on a city/state ahead of time and then try to work it all out? I would like to see that happen. And lastly anyone who wants to go drinking the next Botcon, just let me know as I am up for it.
