I had heard that he and Ramjet were out on the west coast for over 2 months. It has been in Ontario east only for the last month or so.

You're kidding, right? Lougheed Town Wal-Mart had skoads of him and Ramjet for months. Of course, they're all gone now.

What isn't gone, though, as far as I know, is the one and only Jetfire I found there this morning. Couldn't afford him sadly, so I hid him behind the Megatrons.

Sorry for the double post but there's been no activity and I've got an update...sort of.

Went to Broadway Toys R Us over the weekend, but the news isn't very good. Either they still haven't gotten the wave containing Ravage, or the shelves have been picked clean. The storefront TF section is now gone and they're relegated back to their regular aisle.

-The deluxes have been 'ravaged' (lol), so the only figures left are Wheelie, Chromia and Desert Brawl. Wheelie's going to be a huge shelfwarmer...

-No Leaders, and I didn't see too many Voyager figures either.

-They've still got a bunch of Animated Deluxes including a Blurr if anyone's still looking for him, as well as the regular Universe shelfwarmer selection.

-Still lots of those Whirl/Bludgeon 2-packs too, hopefully they go on sale soon so I can assist with unloading one of them.

I'm worried about this lack of Ravage and Leaders. I really hope I don't end up having to order any ROTF figures online.

I did end up purchasing a couple of these sweet little micro R/C buggies though (not my video), they're pretty awesome for the size and price ($17.99). The girlfriend and I had a good couple hours of fun with them yesterday. I'll probably buy a couple more just because I like them so much.

Aaanyway, that's all there is to report, sadly.

I found a ravage at a local Walmart in Toronto and put him down after looking at him closely. Hated his alt mode.

Bought Ravage at Wal*Mart Lougheed.

He went from package to shelf without any attempt to transform him, and I doubt he ever will be.

Still looking for Skywarp, Kirby?

Kirbs, how are they on batteries? How long do they last on a single charge? How long do they take to charge? What kind of batteries do they take? What kind of climbing power to they have (a rough estimate would be fine, ie: 35 degrees)? Sorry 'bout all these questions, but I'm a micro RC enthusiast and these l'il buggies have piqued by curiosity.

When I get Ravage it will likely be the same for me. XD I don't care if his alt mode is lame, he's Ravage!

Yeah, I'm still looking for Skywarp, did you see him?

No worries. :) I've always been interested in micro RC toys but never got around to purchasing any until now, and I'm glad I got these.

If you're an enthusiast, you might be familiar with Takara Tomy's Q-Steer cars. These are modified versions of those.

They each take 3 AAA's in the controller. They've got a built in NiMH battery in the buggy which appears to be non-replaceable (at least not easily). I'm guessing the AAAs last fairly long but I've only had them for a couple days so I don't know yet. The buggy itself charges from the controller in under a minute, and runs probably 3-5 minutes per charge. Not very long, but enough fun for me, and since it recharges so quickly I don't mind. There's a 'boost' button on the controller which makes the car go faster, which of course drains the battery faster, but my estimate was using the boost feature.

Climbing power is not very strong, but not terrible. At regular speed it can slowly climb a 20 degree angle, it's incapable of anything more. However, using the boost button it can climb 30-35 degrees fairly easily, but anything higher it struggles with, stopping probably at the 40 degree mark. I guess that's pretty good.

They do have 'toolbox' version (TRU exclusive $29.99) that comes with a carrying case, small jumps, cones, slick wheels, an extra motor and extra gear. The extra motor is presumably more powerful as it has a different colored end cap from the standard one. I plan on getting that next. Any more questions?

Sweet, sweet, sweet! The other micro RCs I had left me rather disappointed. The G2 Super Slicks were pretty cool, what with working headlights, turbo function, and 'drifting' mode, but their time-between-chargings really sucked. You'd get like 5 minutes of racing, and in the last minute, since it takes power to turn, the car could hardly move at all. It'd just inch, no, milimetre forward and die if you tried to turn. At least the customizing options were fun: bodies, tires, rims, motors, gears.

I'll check these little dune buggies out. They remind me of my older brother's Turbo Panther from when we were kids. Got, that one was a BEAST!

Could you give me the cars' brand/series name from the package? I'd like to look up some more information on them and poke around the RCGroups forums to see what the word on the boards is. Thanks!

If you like Micro RC, don't just stick to the ground! I really enjoy Air Hogs' line of indoor helicopters, and the Twin Twist is a marvel of toy engineering. Up, down, forwards, backwards, turning, even strafing if you do it right! The Havoc Helis are fun to start with, but you don't have much control.

Sorry for going so far off topic. I just checked to see what this thread was about, as I honestly forgot...

Nothing new at the Brossard TRU and Zellers on the South Shore of Montreal.

Well, I have to warn you, these suffer the same problem as they die at the end, though it's maybe only 30 seconds, but since the charge time is so quick it doesn't bug me. Most RCs lose performance at the end anyway so I know it's a given.

Also they're considerably less customizable. So far only the wheels, motors and gears are able to be switched. On the North American releases you can't even remove the body, unless you pry off the glued parts. So far there are no add-ons or accessory packs aside from the kit I mentioned, so hopefully this starts a new fad of Micro RCs and we get some more optional gear.

Another thing, these are controlled by Infrared signals rather than Radio Frequencies. It eliminates interference, but the range is maybe 15 feet at the most, and like a TV remote you must have a line of sight between the buggy and controller.

1337W422102 wrote:I'll check these little dune buggies out. They remind me of my older brother's Turbo Panther from when we were kids. Got, that one was a BEAST!

I know, the big ones are so awesome. These ones are actually styled after classic Tamiya RC buggies from the 80s...turns out when I was a kid I had a smaller non-RC buggy made by the same company. These things have made me really interested in getting a full-sized RC buggy, which is another thing I really wanted as a kid that I never got.

Alright, they're called Micro Terrain Titans, and they're licensed for sale here by Spin Master, which I believe also makes Air Hogs?

I was actually looking at Air Hogs' outdoor RC planes, that's another unfulfilled childhood dream. The helicopters do look really cool too.

Oh, in Japan they're essentially the same, just look up 'Tamiya Q-Steer'. They have different packaging and stuff, and I think you can remove the bodies (but am not sure). The regular TakaraTomy Q-Steers are compatible accessory- and controller-wise but all of the cars have the Super Deformed look. However the regular non-buggy ones take disposable batteries instead of being an internal rechargable, so therefore play times are longer, but you have to buy more batteries of course.

lol, alright, sorry for all the off-topic stuff guys. Next time I'll PM.

Not really. your best bet if you need to try that one is to train to 22nd and take the 388. Get off across the street from the Burger King. That bus run every 30 minutes and both ways hit that area about the same time so if you time things well you can get in and out easily.

or if you don't mind the 4 block walk from Scott Road, you can take the 319 from Scott Road Station and walk along Nordel. That bus runs every 10 minutes.

By Scott Road eh... is it close to the Skytrain at all?

Not really. your best bet if you need to try that one is to train to 22nd and take the 388.

Cool, thanks, maybe I'll try to make it there later this week.

I'm going to Metrotown tonight so I'll let you guys know if I see anything.

Thanks for the details, Kirby. I spent the night doing some research. I might pick one up, but I've read about some kind of steering issue people are experiencing...

Anyway, back on topic. I'll go scouting tomorrow, but I don't think I'll see anything new. Anyone seen the Classics Legends Warpath, Cosmos, Hot Rod, or Wheelie at retail yet?

Anyone in the Kitchener / Waterloo, Ontario area there are 5 Jetfires left at the Toys R us. I hide 1 of them behind the Leader Primes to help keep him for anybody able to get there.

PS Leader Jetfire rocks

Yeah, it's hard to get them to drive completely straight, there is a trim adjuster on the bottom to remedy it somewhat. I think it has to do with the design, and they're not exactly made of precision materials. I recommend getting the ones with the narrower front tires rather than the big knobby dirt tires up front. I bought a pair and the one with narrow tires drives a lot straighter.

Also if the battery is almost dead the steering doesn't work as well, but that's to be expected. Other than these small issues I haven't experienced any steering problems.

I have not seen any of those at retail. I'm guessing they're not coming out anymore, since we never even saw the end of Animated. I was lucky and grabbed a Wheelie at our overpriced comic/toy store, since he was the only one I wanted.
