Character vehicle changes for tf2?

Postby Whljck » Wed Jul 25, 2007 11:02 pm

Since Transformers 2 is in the works, what vehicle modes would you like to see for the new transformers?

Example: Soundwave = BALKAN MK 6

http://fc02.deviantart.com/fs14/f/2007/ ... hinn73.jpg

Also, are there any existing characters forms in the movie that you would like to see changed? Like Jazz's vehicle mode, or Starscream's robot form? would you guys also like to see a variety of cars instead of just GM cars?

Im new to the forums and I'd just like to say hi to everybody and I hope to enjoy many topic discussions with you all

Motto: "This is your end."
Weapon: Quasar Cannon
Hi! Welcome!

Tough call, but if they keep getting cooperation with the US gov't, maybe..

stealth bomber?
submarine?
Or that old bit about Bay wanting a aircraft carrier.

If Ratchet were to change his alt mode that would make my day, but I do not see it happening. Your average movie veiwer would probably be confused with the change.

For the existing characters, I wouldn't change their designs for the sequel except a new paint job for Jazz and maybe Ratchet, but not totally new alt modes or designs. Megatron, though, does need an Earth mode for the sequel, and that means a redesign for his body at least (his head is fine).

As for the new characters, something reminiscent of their original alt modes would be best, but not identical. for Grimlock (if he is used), a robotic T-rex, of course but more along the lines of how Scorponok was done. For Soundwave, give him is full mass conversion and have him transform into a large portable stereo system along the lines of the image below, maybe even having a built-in DVD player or something. Definately larger than Frenzy was, with more features. He needs to be a full-sized bot, but still his traditional alt mode just updated, and thus he needs his mass conversion. He really isn't "Soundwave" if he isn't a stereo. Think about it, that is where his name came from in the first place.

I saw a concept of Soundwave as a blue hummer a few years ago. I thought it looked pretty bad ass.

Yeah to be honest i think Soundwave would work better as a Comms vehicle rather than an actual Comms device. Nothing stopping his 'storage section' being in his chest though is there.

I disagree. A vehicle mode just doesn't fit him, and really doesn't fit his name. His name screams sound system. That was the whole basis of his name in the first place. He was called Soundwave because he was a tape deck; an audio device. Audio device—Soundwave. It just fits. Soundwave—vehicle doesn't fit.

He doesnt have to be a military vehicle either... i can see him as a pimped up van with those mental sized speakers they put in... he could use them as a weapon. he could even keep most of the G1 colourscheme that way.

We all love Soundwave, and I think most of us want to see him stand up to some of the bigger autobots. As much as I would love to see him as a boom box or a tape deck, I dont think we really want to see him sneaking around and doing the same stuff frenzy did.

I was watching future weapons, and I saw the LRAD.

Maybe if Soundwave had a suped up version of that on his vehicle form, he could still stay soundwave, but be big enough to be a worthy foe for the Autobots.

With his mass conversion, he could do both. He could be big enough to take on the Autobots, and, when necessary, be small enough to sneak around. The trick, of course, is making it look good. Having Soundwave a small robot mode, is definatley a no-go, which is why they went with Frenzy in the first movie, There simply wasn't enough time to deal with the issue of mass conversion properly. They do have that time in the sequel. So,bring on the mass conversion.

Soundwave shrinking down to a stereo is just going to look stupid, have him as a large robot that contain his lil' buddies - lazerbeak only needs to be a meter or 2 - i'm sure a robot of Blackout-esque proportions could carry a fair few Ravage size casseticons

I disagree. It can be done quite comnvincingly depending upon how they do it. Even Hasbro said they want Soundwave to have mass conversion. It can be done believably.

As much as I don't like the idea of mass-shifting and conversion, I heard as well that they wanted to do it with Soundwave. I guess the Allspark technically mass-shifted :-?

Well, as I said in the other thread, use an updated design, a large portable stereo soundsystem with the works including a DVD player and 3 disk CD changer. A comm truck is going to stick out— it draws attention—and Soundwave isn't the type to want to draw attention to himself at all. His job depends upon secrecy and strealth, not something you can accomplishe as a comm van. He can accomplish it as a decked out portable stereo. Stereos are ubiquitous and completely innocuous. They're everywhere and fit in everywhere. For Soundwave, you don't want an alternate mode whicu will strike fear. You want one that blends in wherever he goes and noone will notice.

Actually, no, he wouldn't be small. Remember, Mass conversion was only ruled out for the first movie because there was too much else to deal with. On top of that, even Hasbro has stated they want Soundwave to mass shift. It is an essential part of who he is as a character. The design I came up with uses mass conversion.

Hi WheelJack, I'm also new in this forum but not on the TF lines. We'll I would say they should infused different American car brands bec they made the movie, but GMC has lot of division so they are the only one beside Saleen & the US Military who are really interested in sponsoring & providing cars.

Jazz is perfect for Solstice - he'll never be back in the sequel.
They should bringback IronHide's true body paint w/c is RED,maintain his vehicle mode & produce more Iron Hide Toy lines, we never got him here in Philippines. Ratchet got cool mode.
I wish they should bring the ff.
TrailBreaker - Chevy ESV
Red Alert - Chrsyler JEEP
SKIDS - GMC Savannah
AERIALBOTS for some air cover
Soundwave as nuclear submarine & shockwave as battleship AEGIS.

How about a turntable for soundwave or a jukebox player? - it's quiet bigger than a cassette player :-P

And also not as ubiquitous as well as outdated. Turntables are only used by DJs on stage, and Jukeboxes are only used in certain resteraunts. Modern portable stereos are everywhere from the fanciest office to the dirtiest factory, to out in the field with military personel.
