They're not exposed thighs, they're combat tights.

Probably has to do with marketing.. Cybertrons/Autobots always outsell Destrons/Decepticons.. This has pretty much been true with all the series.

Agh, hate to do another post after one of my own, but it came to me this morning. If we do a figure/character count of each faction who appeared in Masterforce, the Decepticons actually outnumber the Autobots! And let's exclude Doubledealer(a wild card of sorts), and clones, counting each character as one. Also, I'll exclude Fastrack(Scorponok's little dude), since they represented generic Decepticons.
Autobots:
Pretenders-4
Headmaster Jr.-3
Powermasters-4
Godbomber-1
Grand Maximus-1
Total Autobots in Masterforce: 13
Decepticons:
Pretenders-3
Headmaster Jr.-3
Powermasters-3
Seacons-6
Firecons-3
Browning-1
Black Zarak-1
Total Decepticons in Masterforce: 20
There's no doubt that the Autobots were more powerful, and that the Firecons only appeard in a couple episodes, but they were in there.

Agreed. While I have no problem with using the term 'gay' to describe something (c'mon, if you saw a man in leather chaps with an open shirt or a guy in a pink cartigan sweater with baby blue slacks, you'd call it a 'gay' look too), this isn't a very good use of it.
First off, those stupid fanny packs were all the fashion rage at the time of the cartoon. That makes sense. His hair is blue and typically anime style. Again, at that point in anime, it makes sense.
I'm pretty sure that there was no man-sex or surprise butt-secks involved which would justify him as 'gay'.
I also don't think nor have I ever thought that Tracks was gay. He was rich and snobby. They were imitating Thurston Howell III of Giligan's Island fame.

I never thought Tracks was gay either, just very vain and what would now be called metrosexual.
