Sabrblade, you are much more knowledgeable and read than I am about Transformers (and I’m fairly knowledgeable, but you still far exceed me), I am a year or two behind in the comics reading. I haven’t seen Autobot Megatron yet. But from images on the internet, they sure look close enough (for Hasbro) in robot mode. Megatron toy and IDW MTMTE Megatron, both have treads on legs and on back, both have similar torsos. I am not trying to argue with you, really what am I missing? They seem pretty similar. I wouldn’t be surprised if their alt modes were a bit different, but we’ve seen that before.
Though it does seem to turn into a tank, it is quite different from the look and shape of the Leader toy, which hews more towards the classic G1 look in a modern form:
Though, there do seem to be some rudimentary similarities between the look of the Leader toy and Megatron's fourth body, but as that body was also adhering to the classic G1 look in a modern form (in its own way, though):
Very interesting. Thank you for the info and images! It helps to clarify. Yeah, I was thinking that the toy was based on the 4th Megatron body from the comic.

Okay, I'm going to make this my last post here for a very long time (tons of projects to finish, and a few anxious customers to placate--oh hey, Kanrabat!
), so I'm going to make this a pretty detailed rant.
Basically, I feel that the root of the whole debate stems from the what we've come to recognize as "G1 Transformer characteristics" (humanoid faces and gender, and human personality/behavior) and the conflict it creates with the accompanying fiction. In other words, they look and act so damn human, but at the same time, are supposed to be asexual aliens--there's a disconnection between what they're supposed to be, and what we see. It's really boils down to the individual's suspension of disbelief, but it will inevitably create debates like these as each person reacts differently to it.
Now, if Transformers had looked liked these mechs (pics below) in the first place, I don't think anyone would have a problem with either of the two being "male" or "female", both or none of the above:

So basically, I do agree with both Jelze and Wolfman Jake regarding physical androgyny and how people identify gender through faces. But what I'm trying to say is that if you (Hasbro, and TF fiction writers in general) are going to tell us that TF's are essentially genderless, don't make them look as if they do have an assigned gender.
But of course, that's just all rhetoric, the G1 aesthetic is much too iconic to changed, nor should it be changed. This is just a "what if TF's had been androgynous and without human characteristics" sort of topic.
The same kind of debates will keep coming up as new TF fembots are made, but it's all good, as that's what discussion threads are about.
So with that, this is SKYWARPED_128 signing out for now.
...and one more thing:
Hi, TK! Just for the record, I don't disagree with you. If you go back a few pages, I made it quite clear that I just personally prefer more "idealized" aesthetics on my TF's ("male" or "female"). I'm not saying that it's the only correct way to design a transformer. We're all free to like what we want.

TK415 wrote:SKYWARPED_128 wrote:Totally agreed.
Pretty things sell; that's why the Bay movies raked in so much money despite the mediocre story lines, average acting and toilet humor. Kickass robots that transform into (mostly) kickass vehicles, pretty girls in sexy clothes, lots of flashy action.
And for the teenage girl audience, there's Twilight with their shirtless werewolf dudes and brooding male model vampires.
Hey, man, no problem. But that is not 100% of media. Sure it is the majority, I watched every Transformer movie and enjoyed them all, I enjoy that type of film. But I watch other types of movies as well. All I am saying is that it is a good thing to have the Vic team. They either have different body types or they are in suits of armor. Not everyone has to love it, but don’t say that they shouldn’t be made that way.

Actually, both are. The first is the SV-51 from Macross Zero, and the second is the VF-27 Lucifer from Macross Frontier.

Ah, yes I can see it now. There is always the design elements which help to link the various series together

Yeah. All Valks in Macross were designed by Kawamori, with the sole exception of the VF-2SS. One of the common traits of his Valk designs are the thruster feet. IIRC, the YF-21 from Macross Plus is the only one that has backpack thrusters instead.

The YF-21? It was piloted by his rival, Guld Bowman.
BTW, if you've only watched the movie edition, I strongly recommend checking out 4-part OVA. Isamu (the main character) behaved like a chimp on bad LSD in the movie edition, mostly because they'd cut out the parts that made him personable and likeable.
Jeez, so much for my last post.
No worries, Kan! Getting back to work right now!

It's based on the Lightning Bug, from the G1 Episode "Cosmic Rust". Go watch it, it'll explain a thing or two about Victorion's background.

Cool. Thanks for the clarification. I totally agree, (as long as there are diverse options to choose from).

Windblade has had two: SDCC and TakaraTomy. For Victorion, I'm afraid to hazard a guess, since fitting one new character into G1 lore is easier than shoehorning an entire team of 6. For all I know, TakaraTomy may try to pass them off as the original G1 fembots with Pyra Magna as Elita-1
