Cyberverse figures...

Postby gbm » Mon Nov 05, 2012 3:09 pm

When I first started collecting, I always said "I'll never see a reason to start buying these little things..."

well, I gotta say, I have about 15 of them now, and I must admit, I kinda like em!

Anyone else like the Cyberverse line?

ps, I'm in the market for all 3 DOTM Dreads figures, so if anyone is sellin'...I'm buying!

I prefer the bigger figures. Unless there's a toy in the Cyberverse line that catches my eye that doesn't have a higher-scaled figure.

I always promised myself I wouldn't and would stick to the traditional size-classes.

But I am weak...

However, in todays economic climate you could build an impressive collection across a broad range of characters if you just stuck with Legends...

Same. Good example is DotM Hatchet.
And I had to get two Prime Legion Vehicons, because Steve.

I'm game for every unique character released in the lines I collect. If they only get a Cyberverse scale figure, I'll happily pick it up. They're the only way to get RotF Springer, the three Constructicons that missed out on Deluxe/Voyager releases, two out of three Dreads, DotM Flak, Powerglide and Guzzle. I also really like the vehicles they made for DotM and Prime. It's somewhat impossible to make a starship Deluxe and up can drive, so this scale is perfect for playsets.

I own a dozen or so cyberverse figures, but there are only a few I'm fond of. Decided to give the little guys a shot last year because the DOTM stuff constantly had some sort of sale or coupon promotion going on. Out of the guys I have, there are four I'm fond of and, as it turned out, none are DOTM related. Lol. My TJ Maxx finds are my favorite - RTS Optimus, Starscream and Megatron. The other is PRID Ironhide.

I (accidentally) nearly completed the dotm Decepticons in CV scale in one fell swoop, I'm only mission Hatchet (who is annoying hard to find reasonably)! The long and short of it is I bought a really cheap lot that included all of them except Hatchet, Blackout, Shockwave, and Barricade. At that point I started really liking them and felt compelled to round out the cast.

I mean, I don't get every single one, but I pick up the ones I like. For the Prime line, Cliffjumper, Bulkhead, Wheeljack, and Flamewar (standing in for Arcee) make a great little team Prime in front of my computer monitor. I wish CV Optimus impressed me more, and I just don't like Bumblebee or Ratchet, as much as I'd like to complete the cast in mini-scale.

I'm really looking forward to Smokescreen and Sinnertwin/Twinstrike though!

I'd like to see them a smidge cheaper however. Sometimes it feels odd to pay so much for them, when a deluxe figure is merely a few dollars more.

Having said that, I still like having a shelf full of them.

I find myself being drawn toward the smaller figures (Cyberverse, Kreons, etc.) more and more recently. Cheaper, quicker/easier to fiddle with, and fantastic range of characters.

Legends and Cyberverse are my main collecting focus.

Animated Prowl is one of my favorites.

The Cyberverse from Prime is pretty fun. I like the weapon system and
the Commanders have good transformations for their size.
I also feel that PCC are in a good scale with current Cyberverse so I tend to
display them together.

I have really enjoyed the evolution of the smaller toys

Wow, those look awesome!

So I just got back from TRU here in NJ, and I picked up a few goodies.

Cyberverse Breakdown
Scout Class Brawl
Scout Class Dead End

It's only NOW that I'm realizing that I think it's these SCOUT CLASS figures I'm really loving. Whats the deal with these? I did some searches and I saw tons of them ranging from ROTF time period to Generations, etc...

Are these like an in-between line? I really like them cause of their scale, but they don't skimp on the complexity of the transformation like perhaps the Cyberverse do.

Any solid recommendations for these?

edit: I have Laserbeak already.

It used to be Legends -> Scout -> Deluxe -> Voyager/Mega/Ultra -> etc.

Legends was renamed Legion and Scouts were fazed out for CV commanders.

Hm, some other good Scouts? Well Beast Wars and Beast Machines had TONS of great Scouts. Some of my favorites are Terragator, an alligator/turtle(terrapin) fuzor, BM Night Viper, a transmetal-y cobra, BM Spy Streak, BM Scavenger, and BM Mirage. All of the BM Vehicons got multiple repaints in the Universe and RiD lines. I'm especially fond of the blue repaint Scavenger got as an Autobot for the RiD line.

The Unicron Trilogy also featured a great bunch of Scout figures. Energon's Omnicons Skyblast and Strongarm, Terrorcon Divebomb, and all of the Gestalt limbs are scouts. Cybertron had Undermine, Wreckloose, Swindle, Scrapmetal, and Shortround, most of whom were repainted at one point or another, mostly in the first movie line. Of particular interest are the movie redecos of Swindle (as Hartop) and Shortround (as Storm Surge), who represent the best deco of the two molds, in my opinion.

Scouts are easily my favorite size-class, and the Skystalker mold is my absolute favorite TF toy. I recommend Ransack (biplane), Dirt Boss (forklift), Ejector (toaster), Hubcap (30's-style car), Brimstone (chopper), and Insecticon (fly-bot).

Dirt Boss is quite the nifty little fellow! I found the two pack with Deadlift and Beachcomber recently at my local Walmart actually! Keep your eyes on the clearance aisle for some good old fashioned overstock. :)

And I have to second Ejector as well, he's just got tons of personality (and a spare set of arms!) in such a tiny yet menacing package. :P
