That wasn't directed at you Koloth as much as it was to others that were on the verge of flaming him for his style of collecting.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, it is the way that some of these opinions are being pushed onto others that I find irritating.

In fact toys are just about the absolute worst thing you could pick to invest your money in. If you're looking for an investment buy realestate, stocks or open a savings account. The return on your money will be far greater than some mass produced hunk of plastic boxed or otherwise. And before you try to show me numbers to the contrary I can show you plenty of things people thought would be worth a mint (IE: Beanie Babies) that were little more than a fad.

Agreed 100%.

And to blkbitcloud1, welcome to the community, and very nice collection you have there.

Having said all that how much for the BW Rampage? Been jonesing for one of those for a while.

Like I said im not selling any of them, and have other investment plans(401k, saving bonds, etc.) and have a few out the package to display and play with. But I do collect other toys(yes MISB) and display others. Room is the major factor with me. Only if I had more room to display them all I would.

I wasn't talking to you specifically blkbitcloud1. But I have seen other in this thread claiming that MISB toys are an investment. They maybe but they are a bad investment.

And I realise you're not selling. But I still want Rampage.

Here is the age old question...or folly of collecting..Which collector is a True Fan?

There are the ones who open their merchandise, play with them, store them in Plastic Bags, or just place on the shelf and that is that..

Those same collectors manage to find their toys much cheaper on eBay I might add, because to them the box is only a hinderence to what they really want.. the Bot!! So to those of you who do this, congratulations, you save annually more money then alot of other MIB or MISB collectors ever Will..Your Boxed Merchandise is great to open for the first time, and explore, plus that new Toy smell hits you in the face.. its Xmas every day for you guys!!

For those of you who want the Pristine and cool factor of Keeping an item in the Box, either as an investment or just because you opened alot of figures in your early days of collecting and realized the value went straight to crap.. then MInt in the Box and Mint in the Box Sealed is you. The look of a brand new "as it was originally sold" piece is just what you look for..

I am kind of a dual collector when it comes to this issue..To some of you this may shock you, But I snobishly would never buy an out of Box transformer on eBay..or any other place for that matter..

I am a middle of the road collector. I buy the ones I like in Mint packages and store them on shelves for people to view and for me to show off my complete collection..or semi completed series... But There is a little of the "I want to transform them and more aptly, make cool sounds, and Pose them..Pose them... and repose them till I have the perfect Battle scene on display..." type of collector

What makes this a Possibilty?? A little Known secret.. Buy korean Takara Releases.. there are little differences, but it's worth it for the Price points, They sell cheaply, and you can get them in Box, slide trays out and open display.. then when your tired of display or worried about harm, or just want to place some other item up for display, just break it down, place back into the Plastic tray, and slide back into the box!!!

Here is the image of the guy out of the Box..
Image

I bought this guy on eBay about 2 Months ago for 40.00 MISB.. it was really cool!! I have him, though a Korean Boxed Release, he's still the same bot as the other ones, and has the neatest feature ever!! You can take him out of the tray, display, pose.. and put him right back.
Image

The Box is actaully Pretty awesome too!!
Image

So who is the "Real" Fan here..?? It's Both.. I love love the MISB.. like the Resissue Takara Beast Wars.. But I will never open them..But I have to open some of the guys I own, and lets face it, even the best box opening collector can mess up really easy, especially where tape and twistie ties are involved..

So buy Korean, or Asian Released Licensed by Takara.. in the end it's cheaper, high quality, and easily opened and replaced..Your not a lesser fan for owning them...

i cant answer the "true fan" question i mean we have all our reasons why we open toys and why we dont open them... maybe all of us are collectors we just need to love our collections regardless if their open or not because at the end we all share a common thing tf!!! so let's just forget the issue about the misb issue let's respect others as they respect us too right peeps!? ;;)

Anybody and everybody who loves their tfs, and enjoys owning them, is a true fan to me. I will never understand the MISB collector. Sure, thos with space troubles, fair enough.

But don't you ever get the urge to play with a figure you have? To yank it out of the box?

I never buy loose either, I worry about physical damage to the figure and loose parts getting lost. I don't throw boxes away either. I store my fave tf's boxes in my room, and black bag the rest and put them in the loft for the future.

Ditto. While I have no money right now, if you ever consider selling some of those figs, please drop me a PM about Energon Wingsaber.

I doubt you wanna sell them yet, but if you do, you know my name ;)

It's not that I dont play with some...I do have a few that's open...but the main reason is ROOM if I had more room then I would open and display more but I dont and with my other stuff...I just dont see it happening.

Get off his case ya harpies. So WHAT if he wants to keep them in their box? It's his choice and his toys/collection. In-box or out, doesn't matter as long as you're a fan.

And awesome collection, blkbitcloud1! I think you're missing RID Galvatron. He's a white Megatron-dragon-thing with 10 modes.

TM2 Megatron and his blue repaint are two great toys. They're the same as far as I know.

As for the Alts, you may have only two but they're two of the greatest.

Man, he takes a risk putting this collection out there and some of you have the nerve to cut him down??

blkbitcloud1 keep on doin your own thing, your collection is sweet!! I personally like toys in shiny sealed packages!!! Easier to store too!

Well said. I am with both of you on this. When I first started collecting, I would open everything as well. However, how many do I still mess around with? Very very few. My G1s are obviously all open. However, from G2 onwards, almost everything is MISB. Well, I opened all my statues, BTs, MPs, Classics, PVCs, Revoltechs, and some of the Classicesque ones from the Unicron Trilogy along with one of every Prime and Megs.

After all, its not like I'm gonna be playing with them, lmao.

Not to mention, try dusting when theres a couple of thousand figures involved...... I probably have about 500ish TFs that are out of the box and that is more than enough maintenance for me.

MISB is easy to clean, display and transport, and retains value better. I for one do not kid myself.. I will always have my G1s and G1 inspired stuff. The rest may or may not still be in my collection a decade from now.

Even the stuff I plan on opening I normally hold off on. I tend to take my time, and open them much later when I have the time and am in the mood to really sit there an enjoy the experience.

Nice collection by the way. Don't mind the haters. I don't understand why they take MISB so personally anyway. Tehir prisons???? Tehy're pieces of plastic. They have no emotions and do not actually mind being nice and cozy in their packaging.

Personally, I dont see the point in buying these relativly expensive toys, if you dont even transform them once. For me the whole reason I collect them is cuase I LOVE to transform them. It is why I would never collect action figures, especilly 80s ones, there isnt much you can do with them.

BUT, it is your money, and you are perfectly entitled to do what you want with it. All the more power to you, and nice collection!

Thank you Sir, but it's not that I dont want to transform them, it's that if and when I do take one out and play with it I dont have the space to store it. This is the main reason that I dont take them out. Bad enough that I have other toys and models with no space to put them. You should see the other MISB toys and models I have that I soo want to put together and play with but just dont have the room!
