I actually came into this thread to express the exact opposite. Thundercracker looks a lot nicer than a big, plain white robot, but man does Thundercracker feel thinner and cheaper than Jetfire. My Jetfire is nice and tight, and that solid build makes him feel better, leaving the white to really show off the thin and emptiness of the figure. Thundercracker is the other way around. The blue makes him look real solid, and I agree does take away some of the emphasis on the hollow parts visually, but he's on the floppy side and feels worse in hand.
I hope it's just mine, or that they fix whatever's going on for Starscream and Skywarp, cuz I'm a Seeker guy, so I've gotta get them all. But just looking at him in package I knew Thundercracker was going to be a step down from Jetfire.

Too bad I lack the skill and patients to do custom paint apps:P...that's top-shelf work MarcusCole1978. As we've seen time and time again Takara wins over Hasbro...most of the time! Yeah Henkei Jetfire (which I no longer own) felt heavier compared to this newer and awesomer and cooler looking and just over all epic Jetfire!

IMO he has better posability over Henkei due to his feet and being a bit top heavy. His feet design did give homage to the G1 version no doubt. I did in fact buy (then sold) Thundercracker for his black hand cannon which is now in the hands of guess...indeed. OMG how sweet it looks over the original red weapon he comes with.

So my condolences to those who felt let down in various ways some more than others. I suppose we can hope that a well known 3rd Party will consider returning to Jetfire and fix the not so huge flaws IMO and improve an already great TF.

It doesn't feel like a KO to me. The only toys that felt like KOs to me were the ROTF voyager and larger figures and that's because they had bad packaging

Aside from pretty much all the cars whose alt modes (car modes) have ill-fitting panels and/or sloppy paint applications or mis-matched paint colorations on the panels due to using different materials for adjacent panels. Or the issues with paint tackiness/weeping on some of the earlier MPs. Or the quality issues with the Rodimus Prime MP. Or any other of a number of known issues with MPs.

There are a couple guys on eBay that sell 3D printed filler pieces for the gaps on Leader-class Jetfire (and Thundercracker). It won't be a perfect match material-wise, but probably less obvious than the hollow parts.

It's not perfect, but it's probably the happiest a new TF has made me since the original RID Optimus Prime.

Remember this thread last year? I strongly defended Jetfire and I still do. That toy looks beautiful!

But the Starscream retool really makes me see what some of you saw all along. Transforming it back and forth reminds me of some KOs with that really hollow plastic. This doesnt feel like a leader class transformer toy but rather an imitation of one that has been gutted. I think the reason why I feel this is because many kos are molds repurposed for whatever the ko company wants and this is not far from that. I also dont like the grey (but that is personal preference) and the null rays feel and look super cheap. I still think Jetfire looks awesome and feels awesome. He had that big battle backpack, paint on the underside of his wings for robot mode and more translucent plastic plus a really cool colour contrast. None of that is in this Starscream though.

Exactly, not only the colors of plastic, but the near complete lack of paint apps, along with the obvious wing gaps, and the extremely hollow legs, make the figures look so gross and lacking of any investment/effort; between cw leader scream and hftd leader scream, I know which one I'd go with every time.

Hasbro's just trying to cheap out too much on the leader figures, and it yields disgusting, semi-k.o.-looking figures, magnus felt and looked the same way - he even broke like a ko

HB must have wanted to squeeze every iota of of their investment from the mold. Typical. It is here where TT excels (in the squeezing and presentation part)

Exactly, they look gross and cheap, and it honestly offends me. The weapons look like a tacked-on after-thought, and the lack of the booster pack is a poor choice, as it would have really added to the dynamic nature of the figure - plus they didn't eve bother changing the mold to remove the clips

But, really, a sprinkling of silver paint on the weapons, would have made them look amazing, oh well, that's hasbro for you now:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but starscream has ~5 paint apps: chest detail, torso detail, lower legs, face, faux cockpit



Skywarp has ~3: cockpit, face, lower legs



And thundercracker has the same as starscream but he also has pelvic paint apps

You arent considering plane mode which has paint apps on the wings, tail fins and right before the cockpit area (which for starscream has 2 shades of red) along with decepticon faction symbols tampographed here and there.

But you know, he doesnt even scale with Megatron, which is really sad:

Best recent full release retool imho would be Sandstorm from the Springer mold. WJ from Tracks or vice versa comes to mind too. FoC Jazz and Sideswipe.....not so good.

Anyway, it's done and all but the Legends Seekers using Guido Guidi's design, well, they're awesome already, couldn't Hb or TT just upscale them to Voyagers or something? That would have been Awesomesauce.

It's basically what every fan wants... not sure how hasbro could manage to not see that after releasing a full set of seekers in every size class manageable - except voyager

Plus the articulation on these things is atrocious. No thigh swivel (which other Legends have, like Blackjack) and nthing with the head, which is also way too small.

People often look to oversize as an answer and it rarely works well if you take a minute to really think of what this woudl entail. Here is an example of an overzised legends class type toy for Starscream and it really is more of a kids toy than a real Voyager Starsream.

Whoa, no one's saying you have to keep everything the same just because you upscale it. It could be done in the cg model, and then modified... I think the legends figure did some smart/clever things with the cockpit/chest transformation; mix that with the torso/arm transformation design of the classic seeker, and then keep the wing structure and legs of the legends, and I think we would be underway to a pretty great figure.

And being completely honest, I would have probably bought a leader version of the legends megatron - it was pretty great, whereas I will NEVER buy the current leader megs
