HA! Sheeple are nothing but sorry-ass hypocrits! Before the movie came out, I got some goofy looks from people when I was in the Toy sections lookin' for Movie Transformers. Oh, my, a grown-up ADULT is buying toys! How immature! How inappropriate for his age!!!

Now, after the movie, I see LOTS of teens to adults (kids too) who are my age, and older hunting for Transformer toys. Today, I had to wait until a few guys a and a couple of women (neither of them good looking) got done before I could inch my way to see what Transformers I could get my hands on.

Some people collect stamps, others cars. Some collect cigars. Some collect vintage coins. Big freaking deal. I'm not hurting anyone, or myself. I'm enjoying the enjoy, and that's all that matters. :)

Yesterday at Wal*Mart I felt some embarassment when I bought my Leader Megatron. First there was a father and son looking at the TFs. Then I'm walking through the store trying to find an empty aisle so I can try the lights and sounds out. I get to the checkouts, which only 3 are open and have long lines.

I finally get in line after moving to a "shorter" line, the guy in front of me forget his wallet. He sends his pregnant wife out to their car, she can't find it. So the cashier has to find a manager to void out the sale. As all this is going on I had to move my Megatron because the customer behind needed to set her case of bottled water down on the counter. The whole time the cashier is giving the look of why is a grown man buying a big toy. Finally I get checked out and escape the store.

What should have been a 5-10 minute store visit turned out to be 15-20 minutes but I got Megatron.

The way I see it is if you're embarrassed to buy Transformers, and if you're embarrassed by the fact you're a Tranformers fan, you're not a true Transformers fan. I'm proud to be a Transformers fan, since it sets me apart from a lot of other people.

Embarrassed? No why should I feel that way? Maybe if I cared what the goons behind the counter thought I would, but luckily I dont. Besides my money is just as good as anyone else’s.

I have never really stopped collecting toys, I just dont "play" with them like I did when I was a kid. So for me I have never felt any embarrassment about buying or looking at toys. I think that maybe my girlfriend does when I drag her with me but shes slowly getting used to it.
:P

Then again this coming from the guy who bought Hello Kitty: Roller Rescue for the gamecube from TRU withougt any fear.

But I don't care, I spent the following afternoon wearing it, drinking vodka(With a straw!) and playing Halo with friends, so it was totally worth it.

I used to, but not anymore. Why? Because ive learnt that i couldnt give a rats ass about what people, especially total strangers in shops, might think of me.

Hell, i drive around with the original Transformers movie soundtrack blaring out of my car and i dont give a crap! Be proud of your hobby. Its better than not having one, or being a drunk or a pedophile or something.

The whole post here describes me...29, angry face, etc...I inherited my angry face from my dad; I don't even bust it out on purpose, it just shows.

I just go down the toy isle with my girlfriend in tow, and I told her that if anyone asks, we have a kid. We're about the right age for that to be true, so it's a good cover. 8)

I'm 28, and I'm not embarrassed when I walk into a Wal-Mart, TRU, or Zellers' toy sections.

If you feel embarrassed, get another hobby!!! I'm sure you can find another hobby that you won't get laughed at.

That was a bit harsh, but get over it. If you're a fan, who cares? If you really feel uncomfortable, buy everything online so you can avoid people.

I wear my TF baseball caps, shirts, and pins with pride. Occasionally I get a "nod" from another fan that's also wearing something TF-related when we pass each other on the street.

It's not like you're wearing a NY Rulez banner into Fenway Park by yourself. :P

Not embarrassed at all. Actually, most people I've dealt with in the past few days have been very receptive to the idea. Could be that they are all young adult males, like me. The guy who rang me out at Toys R Us collects them too. Nice place for a collector to work, methinks.

I have to admit, though, I loved the look on my mom's face tonight when I told her I just spent $300 on Transformers figures.
For the love of Primus, why must I be a Mississippi State fan?

I love browsing the toy aisles. I feel at home and sometimes kids and parents talk with you about TF. It's so fun driving around trying to find that 08 Bumblebee for example. If you don't feel man-ly then collect footballs.

Yep, the day I got my Leader Prime, a woman was standing next to me and my wife talkign about how her husband's latent TF fetish had been awakened by the movie, and I helped her pick out a Starscream (I had her get the Voyager, as I personally find the protoforms to be kinda strange to make toys from)

I haven't yet seen anyone in a toy isle talking to each other about the things and sharing stories or anything. It must not happen here. Who knows.

But the other thing is I grew up around a carbon copy of Red Foreman from That Seventies Show. Self expression was often mocked and crushed. To this day, I feel like I have to sneak around with my guilty pleasures.

It's funny too, cuz I actually just showed my dad a concept Bumblebee, since he works for GM. His reply was "great, that's all you need". Ah, he's still no fun.

I'm 14 right now, & I never get embarrassed when looking in the toy aisle for tf's. I'm not one to care about my reputation, so to heck with what people think, they can think about what they are looking at, because they are looking at is more than meets their eyes! Around my area, I get some looks from people, for looking at tf's, but I don't care, it's what causes me joy. If it causes me joy, it's gotta be good to me.

Actually that's kind of what happened when I finally found my 08 BB today. :-P Talked to some dad about it for a little bit, and told him it was a pretty hot item, etc. Hard to find another here at least... I don't know if I'm embarassed or not, I guess I don't really give a f* what people think really and just flip through the shelves/bins.

When I was 18 I used to feel the same.I thought how embarrassed I was when I picked up my very first Transformers

But then about 6 months to a year later a new term entered my vocabulary...Toy Collector

I have no problems picking up anything anymore and I do not care who looks at me its none of there business.

Look at the Hot wheels guys there in there 30's and don't care who's watching them I'm 41 and will still do this for years to come.

Your a Toy Collector be proud of it and don't give a rats ass on whos watching its your money

Do I feel ashamed or embarrassed while looking for TF toys ? Sure... I'm 22 and my friends are not collectors, nor is my girlfriend. But in the end, I don't care. I work, I earn money and I spend it the way I want it. It feels great to open these suckers and feel like a little kid again. Exactly like I felt 14 years ago while opening my toys. I always think of that when standing there, in front of those pegs full of Transformers, while some kids or other dudes are looking at me.

The hunt is something I like personally. You know, just getting closer and closer to the display, and finally finding a figure you were searching for weeks, wich is now right there in front of you.

We all have a kid inside of us, some are just letting that kid take control sometimes. Others don't...
