G1Blaster wrote:Hell no. Every one who knows me knows my hobby. The best part is no one says anything bad about it because they all think I'm insane because I have 'Criminally Insane' tattooed on my back.

Also, a little off topic but still kinda on it. One time I had a rotten day at work. Everything that could have gone wrong, did. But it didn't matter. I was going to Wal-Mart after work and get the Prime VS Meg Classics box. So I'm in the store in a foul mood but I pick up the box and start to feel better. I take it up to cashier and the guy asks me if this is for my son or something. I told him no that I collect TFs and have been almost my whole life. He starts giggling and says....

"You mean you collect toys? You spend your money on toys for kids? What is wrong with you?"

Something inside my snapped. I reared back and decked him. Now I've been in many fights in my life because of my temper but I swear to you that I don't think I have ever hit a man so hard. My arm actually hurt from my hand to my elbow after I did it.

Needless to say this caused a scene, I was supposedly banned from the store (even though I still go in there now) and sent to county jail for a 24 Hour Cooling Period. As soon as I got out, I went to a different Wal-Mart and got the box. Luckily that guy didn't press charges.

So the moral of the story for the young ones on this board is never to be ashamed of your hobby, even if you nearly have to kill a man to defend it.

Epic can't even come close to that buddy, one for the ages.

Yes really I am afraid of getting caught by my friends, wives and parents of looking and getting a Transformers toy.

So before going on a Transformers hunt, I will disguise myself so that nobody can recognize me. Put on a cap, sunglass, and a fake beard.

When reaching the Toys corner, make sure no parents are around before you look at a toy. Or when u are looking at a toy, and suddenly when any adult is coming towards you, pretend to show the toy to the nearest kid you can get around you. Show signs of disapproval and boredom when showing the toy to the kid.

This way, you won't get caught.

To be brutally honest I'm with G1Blaster on this one.

I buy transformers. So what? What you gonna do? Bully me? I dare ya, give me a reason.

Cos in this world, taking **** from anyone will only make things worse.

I totally endorse defending your honour from some pathetic scab working the tills of a store for a living.

I am not ashamed, my parents know, well, not to many of my frineds know, but that's cool. So what if people think I'm messed up for collecting Transformers, who cares? I stopped caring what people think of me long ago.

Ashamed? Why? So you like one of the best toy lines ever made and you're an adult, so what? It's not like you're stabbing someone or mugging someone for them, you're not being a public pain in the rear for them, it's not like you're killing anyone for a TF.
I'm used to all the insults and attacks I get for collecting TF's, couldn't care less that it's not sport, drink, drugs and all that junk. It's harmless. And last longer than all the so-called 'mature' things we're forced to do by peer pressure. "Drink, do drugs, it makes you cool and popular!" Yeah, it makes you one with the worms and does the same to others as well. Real mature.

Enjoy the hobby, TF's are well engineered, imaginative and fun. And G1Blaster, I would have done the same as you did if I had a rotten day and was insulted like that. Though I would have added a little more humilation, cover him in Barbie toys after he's been knocked out and taken a picture with the quote: "Barbie Man!" His friends,if he has any, would love that.

I think it all boils down to confidence. If you're walking around the toy aisle feeling ashamed, then people are gonna sense that and think—that guy's really not enjoying himself right now—and you could become a target. Transformers are more than toys though:

That pretty much sums it up. If you have a passion for TFs, it's probably because they totally rock! They're in a category of their own.

My partner doesnt mind.... She drove me to TRU today, both with stinking hangovers from last night so I could get soundwave!!

Went for a curry as well so double bonus!!

My mates are all the same age as me, and love transformers as well. We are all somewhere in the second half of our twenties, and ten of us all went to see the movie together! no shame cause transformers rock, and we all all 80s spawn 8)

Nahh...no point to it....heck my girlfriend says that she will ship me some in to Germany, while she is back in the states. LOVE HER by the way....oh well back to the topic. My girlfriend gets into conversations with people at her workplace about me and my transformers. Heck she even talked to a mother of a collector for at least thirty minutes. Every one knows. No reason for them not to. I wear Green parachute pants, full beard, and dyed my hair white...any questions on what I think of others opinions....no? Didn't think so.

Agreed. Some friends of mine went with me in some of my hunts. Never told a thing.

Now if someone tried to make fun of me and my hobby..well..I´m a pretty peacefull guy, but like TMB said give me a reason to go balistic on your arses, you will regret it.

I'm not afraid of getting caught because there's nothing to hide from my family. My wife and mom are usually there when I buy TFs anyway. Heck, my wife goes out TF hunting with me on a regular basis, and she's happy for me when I finally find something new.

dude, if you're going to hide this hobby from your wife, you might as well pack it in; this marriage ain't gonna last.

My wife has had a ball with my new fetish (and it's cheaper than anything else I'm into). I bought her the Speed Dial 800 RWG because she was complaining that her cel phone is not a flip-style phone; it's a candybar style. I told her I got her a new phone and gave it to her, she was not amused. Well, kinda. I also got her Optimash Prime because she couldn't quit flipping it around in her hands at Wal-mart.

Otherwise, my wife is very much like Smokescreen GT's in her attitude about TF's

Not really.Plus Iam not a girly girl( I do like colours like pink and purple) in the first place so I don't care what others think. I just buy a few little things(make up or whatever thing I just remembered I needed to get) along with whatever toy I have not make it obvious.

As many of you know my boyfriend was a big dvd collector(he even had some TF and Voltron on display on his TV) and the majority of that was Anime and cartoons, so we were in the same boat I was loved for being me and nothing else.

So in short who cares what others think. It's better to be individual than a clone.
