Gundam games

Postby Calenatarion » Mon Apr 23, 2007 4:12 pm

Since I got hooked on Gundam, I also wondered if there are any (quality) Gundam games. I have a XBOX 360 and a PC.

Can anyone fill me in on existing or future games? I only know that there will be a Gundam game for the 360, called Mobile Ops: The One Year War. (or something like that) But I can't really recall the release that (if there is one), IGN/Gamespot or a different site first said the release date was the first quater of 2007...

I'm playing Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam. It rocks, but I think most UC fans have played it by now.

Then there's the two SEED games, Neverending Tomorrow (SEED) and the one for SEED Destiny, which is Japan-only right now. Both are for PS2.

Just, don't get Crossfire, I've heard nothing but bad things.

Release of Mobile ops is 10/07. I know it sucks, I've been waiting forever for it myself. The best Gundam game for me to date was Encounters in Space, and if you like RPG's then check out MS Saga.

And are both games available for PC or 360?

Well there is the fan-made Gundam MMO: http://www.universalcentury.net/

Last I hear about it, a lot of people are trying to get them to make an translated version for us english speakin' folk.

Also, Encounters in Space was good, always preferred Zeonic Front myself.

I think MS Saga might be for PC. Most Gundam games were for PS2 though.

Stay away from Crossfire! My brother in law bought it for PS3 and it is horrible across the board. It looks like a low grade PS2 game! And the glitches are terrible and plenty.

Yeah, not only is it a bad Gundam game, it was probably the worst PS3 launch game.

So they made Federation vs. Zeon. Then they made the sequel, AEUG vs. Titans. Then they fused the two into Gundam vs. Zeta Gundam.

So when are they going to make AEUG vs. Neo-Zeon? I don't care if ZZ Gundam was cheesy and lame, I want to shoot me some Zaku IIIs from the Mega Rider!

I just hope they bring over ZZ Gundam. That way I can see just how "lame" it is for myself. I have heard poor reviews of the first half, but the second half is supposed to be good. Maybe the upcoming PS3 Gundam Mushuu(think that's what it's called) will suffice. Dynasty Warriors+Gundam sounds like fun, and it has the Turn-A Gundam!

Anyway, if anyone hear has a working Dreamcast I would suggest Mobile Suit Gundam Sidestory 0079: Rise from the Ashes. I think it was one of the earlierst Gundam games to come to the U.S. I know it wasn't on the list of systems, but it's one of the more interesting Gundam games.

For starters, you control the mobile suit from a first person cockpit perspective. Before each mission, you choose your shield, weapon, and mobile suit(total of three, though there is one only available in the last mission). Your on a squad of three, and it's the closest thing the U.S. gets to a Gundam simulator. Oh, and one thing: You dont' control a Gundam at all, only GM's and a Guncannon you have to unlock through proper completion of a mission. The controls are a little hard to get used to and it takes a while to kill a mobile suit, but it's interesting with a few multiple situations. Once again, recommended.

There was a Gundam game for the PC called Gundam 0079: The War For Earth. That was officially the first Gundam game to ever come over to the U.S., back in 1997 according to gamefaqs. I've never played it. Comments state that this is from the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z--WPxzR2rQ, though I can't verify that.

As for Gundam on the PS2, there's Battle Assault 3 Featuring Gundam Seed(and a few suits from Wing and G). It's a decently fun fighting game and I enjoyed it. Journey to Jaburo is a decent game that launched with the PS2. It is nowhere near great and can get repetetive, but it has some neat reanimated scenes from the original Gundam. If found for $5 or less, it's worth it. It has a couple suits not found elsewhere in the U.S. games (unless I'm mistaken), Like the Kamfer and Blue Destiny, and Hy-Gogg in a non-fighting game format. I think the graphics are pretty decent still.

It's not nearly as good as Zeta of First Gundam. But it's better than Wing.

It's cheesy as hell, and that's part of it's charm.

And it's got Yazan in a few episodes, so that's awesome. And Sayla makes a few appearances. So does Hayato AND he dies.

Char doesn't appear, though, but Kamille plays a semi-big role in a few episodes (He's still somewhat insane, though).

*Bump.*

I picked up Gundam SEED: Never Ending Tomorrow.

It's not TOO bad, but it's a whole different ballgame from Gundam vs Zeta Gundam.

Ah yeah, I liked Never Ending Tommorrow. It has a lot of cool MSV suits, but my problem with it(and I borrowed it from a friend), was that there was little to no replayability. You get all these suits, but really no real place to play them with the exception of that repetitive survival thing(forgot what it was called). A one-player versus or arcade mode with randomized enemy suits would have really helped.

And it is really, REALLY annoying unlocking the Red Frame with the flight pack. You have to level up all characters to maxium level, not fun.

Still, the Haro survival(which I think is the final thing unlocked) certainly has it's charm. It's hard and I never beat it, but it's certainly interesting.

Oh yeah, and the ZuOot sucks so bad it's funny. Can't even hover over a tiny hill  . It still looks awsome though...

I agree with the ps2 thing lol me and my friend cept seeing who could get the highest scores out of the main game play, I like all the gundam battle assault games though I like the first ones thrusters system more >.> oddly one of my best suilts was the ZakuII too bad the only suit I near unlocked in the first one was Char's ZakuII

Zenoic front is pretty good for the ps2 you control a team of three up to 3 teams on one mission you can win movie sences and weaopons, characters and moible suits and after you beat it you can win more but it will be harder

gundam federation vs zeon is pretty darn good and theres a muiultiplater and you can unlock any suit or mobile armor you fight in the game and use it in multi not only that there are computer control characters in multiplayer if you want

This would be the ultimate: A Gundam RTS.

It'd be like Starcraft, with giant robots. You'd control various MS and battleships, but you'd also get "Hero Class" units, like th White Base, or Argama. Amuro and CHar would be playable units, among others.

Has this happened before? What kind of game was Girhen's Greed?

Dynasty Warriors Gundam is going to kick assloads of ass. I downloaded the demo from 360 MArketplace, and I think I've played it about 30 times so far.

Who would have though playing as the uber emo Heero could be so much fun?

Now, if only I can play as the Tallgeese in the actual game.

http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/905/905484.html

If you have a 360, download this demo now. If you don't, find someone with a 360, and download the demo now.

Dynasty Warriors: Gundam release today

Postby protokorius » Tue Aug 28, 2007 4:00 pm

Dynasty Warriors Gundam is coming out today on both 360 and PS3. (Yes, I'm helping promote the game.) Command a robotic fleet and fight in historically accurate battles (sans the giant robots...) until you rule the land! Check out the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPNE0NvdTEI
