I was just watching the episode "Golden Lagoon" today, and spotted an Autobot I couldn't recognise. He was standing in a line-up of Autobots, and was the only one I couldn't make out.

Note that, during the course of the episode, all the Autobots get covered with this stuff called Electrum, which turns them all gold - making it doubly difficult to tell who this guy is.

Also, the 'Scramble City' combiners were yet to be properly introduced at this point. I think it kinda looks like First Aid, but the head's all wrong and he's got that odd cannon on his back.

Any experts out there know who he is?

Although every single Autobot is really badly drawn in that pan-across, I believe it's meant to be Sideswipe. He was certainly in the group that went to the electrum pool and that bot's a better match for him than any of the others.

Seibertron, two complaints here: episode list for a series (or lack thereof), and jumbled up screen pics.

That being said, I managed to hunt down the episode and picture in question. Saving a couple of pics for future reference (lineup and overview), I then viewed the list of characters for "The Golden Lagoon".

After that, I copied the Autobot names and used the process of elimination to narrow down the possibilities to a few. It was then a matter of clicking on each character's link to see what they looked like in robot form (front side).

So your answer is...

Sideswipe

Ah, sorry Silver Wind - you were probably doing all that while I just grabbed the DVD off the shelf behind me and spent a couple of minutes checking through the scenes!

I'm just telling you so you know how much work I didn't do to pip you to the post.

As an aside, I checked out the character list for the episode (on this very site), and notice that Rumble supposedly appears in this episode, but not Frenzy.

Now, I realise that Frenzy hardly featured in the cartoon at this point, but there can't be a definitive answer, as every time we see Rumble / Frenzy in this episode, he's coloured gold, and doesn't speak. So for all we know, Frenzy appears in this episode and not Rumble. Or perhaps they both do.

Am I making sense here?

Wow, it's sideswipe, but a much thinner one. The doors and chest are a giveaway, but at first even I couldn't tell.
Poor Sideswipe.
And, Starfish, you *sorta* are, considering all the confusion between the two characters. I dunno, maybe it's true.
