Help!!! Ok I'm trying to get a Scorponok, so which is better, Energon or Cybertron Dark?

Postby skywarp-2 » Tue Aug 28, 2007 11:59 pm

Which one is my best bet?
I've been agonizing over this for the last 8 hours, and I've been back and forth through the galleries, I finally said the hell with it, and will let the fandom decide..Majority vote wins..Which one looks better, and not which one is worth the most.. I don't care about that...I'm just torn.. I really like the Energon Version cause you can see the detail on his face and the dark colors on his legs are nice, but the Dark Cybertron version is pretty nifty too! ARRGHHH!! I can't decide...Please help me..

I see what you mean. Both color schemes are so drastically different from that they sorta compliment each other. If I had to choose right now, I'd probably go for the green Energon version.

Forget both of them and go with Superlink. As soon as I find one of these bad boys my Energon version will be getting a G1 stylie repaint and joining my Classics.

Ah, go with Dark Scorponok. He's got all of the Unicron trilogy's gimmicks, and the color scheme is better.

Energon.

He has Orange claws with painted "scuff" marks on them.
Plus you get the noise functionality (not 100% sure if Dark Scorpy has the noises too) and unlike many toys, Energon Scorponok's dont get irritating after 15 seconds.

They get annoying after 30 seconds.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

E-Scorponok is a great mold (one of my all-time favourite head sculpts!), so you can't go wrong either way. Just pick your favourite of the two...

Personally, I'd go with the original, it's closer to his G1 look, and feels much more like the original Scorponok. But the repaint is still kickass, one of my all-time favourite redecos.

Er... with the exception of the cyber key gimmick replacing Mini-con functionality, aren't they pretty much the same? It all depends on what color scheme you prefer, Skywarp-2!

But personally, I'm a big fan of the Dark Scorponok, and I don't think that the seibertron.com gallery really does him justice. I was a little iffy about him too after viewing them, but the actual figure -- especially with the visor flipped down -- is ten kinds of awesome. And yes, he has (kinda annoying, but cool at first) sounds as well, though I don't have E-Scorponok so I couldn't tell you whether they're the same or different.

Plus he's a zombie robot that hungers for sparks. WINNER.

I've got Dark Scorponok Myself. Awesome toy, except the noises.
Mine is a eunuch now.

He is missing the little tail-hook thing that E-Scorp has, if
that will be affecting your decision.

Ok so far that's 5 votes for Energon and 3 for Scorponok Dark...come on I need more votes..Please.. I like the Dark version's colors and the fact that he's compatible with Cybertron, and the remolded tail is quite cool too, much better then just a hook, although the Energon version's hook kinda brings out the construction vehicle thing alot better.. I do like the weathering on the hands and feet.. i'm still not sure... ARARGGGHHHHH!!!

The problem is, unlike some of the Megatron's colors, which i abhored in the Unicron trilogy, and Galvatron being a clear winner, except Energon, which was nice either way you wnet.. this type of repaint, when they are both great is tough to choose from... Sadly I haven't the money for both, I'm already buying Starscream, and a few others on top of these guys...

Dark Skorpy. In person his colors are much more rich and dark than what you see in the gallery. He actually looks like a Decepticon with those colors. I was never a fan of the bright forest green and orange the Energon version had. Seemed like Energon was plagued with gaudy color schemes.

I'd say Cybertron Dark Scorponok

His color scheme is really nice in person. The dark gray (it isn't rally black) and gold work really well together, and the blood red translucent plastic looks leagues better than the yellow one.
I also like his black face, adds to evil nature of Scorpy.

The noises can get annoying in both of them. So I just removed his batteries.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with waaaaghlord here. I have all three and I really like the Superlink version the best. But if you are going with just the two options, I say go for the Dark Scorpinok.

But I'm definitely not used to seeing the regular dark Scorpinok, I have since touched up all the blue on mine and gave him gun metal grey where there was blue.

I dunno. If you like G1 Scorps get Energon, but if you like Black Zarak get Cybertron.

I like both, but I would lean toward Dark Scorponok.
