I think a spanking would probably work.
People are so freaking leient these days. I got spankings when I was little. I'm not traumatized or anything.

There is a distinct difference between a "spanking" and a "beating"....I got spanked when I was a kid...and now that I look back, I'd have done the same had my kid acted as retarded as I did!...and I came out alright....

Unfortunately the powers-that-be couldn't find a line between spanking and beating and opted to outlaw touching a kid completely.

I still remember walking through Target one day, some little girl about 4 years old nagging her mother. How did the mother react? By turning around and saying to the kid "shut up you little bitch".

Sure ... she didn't physically abuse the kid, just called her own little daughter a bitch.

Thankfully, in my state, it is still legal to give appropriate capital punishment to disrespectful and/or disobediant children...I have seen parents deliver capital punishment on their kids to a round of applause from those around them! Some kids just NEED whoopins sometimes!

 Capital punishment? Are child executions common in your state then? That would be so awesome.

Lethal injection for the lose. They swab a guy's arm with an alcohol swab before sticking him. What's up with that? Wouldn't want to send the guy to Hell with infection, would we?

No that might be inhumane...

Has anyone suggested a guilt trip?

It requires that JR be able to cry on command or at least act horribly despondent, but guilt can be an effective tool.

I mean, it's like what you have going on is a war, and he keeps winning all the little battles. And it stays amusing for him, b/c you get back up again and keep fighting, so you must be 'okay'.

But how would he react if he actually won the war? If you just stopped using the internet, stopped playing with your toys, and just laid on your bad and stared off in to space like a wounded puppy or something.

You know, pretend you're a moody teenager. At the age of three, he may not be capable of the most complicated logic in the world, or grasp great subtlty, but when he figures out he actually, really, seriously has hurt your feelings, he'll probably feel horrible and do just about anything to make it better again.*

Guilt can be a powerful force at that age. I used to get spanked as a kid, but physical pain didn't have nearly the impact on me that my mom's crying did when she had to do it. After all, most of us endure pain of some form to get what we want, but the those who aren't deterred by it are considered strong in character. On the other hand, those that are willing to inflict pain on others to get what they want are considered sociopaths. Summary - it's much more important to teach your child that their actions harm others, than that their actions harm themselves.

The other option, given your situation, would be to stay out of the house as much as the weather allows. Go for the longest school days possible with loads of extracurricular commitments, hang out with friends at their houses or (if legally possible) at the mall.

*Edit: Also, the moody teenager bit can wear down adults faster than the bitchy teenager bit. If you bitch to your uncle and aunt they just bitch back, right? But if you act really depressed and withdrawn, what will they do? Yell at you to be happy? My guess is that, as family they really do love you and are concerned about your welfare, but simply haven't been taking your complaints seriously so far because (a) that's just how kids are, and (b) a whining teenager is a healthy teenager. If you start to get seriously homesick, they may start to change things up to make things better, like encouraging their son to respect your personal space.

im 12 and hes 3. and its his parents house.if i lock the door and he cries i get in trouble. if i say its my room and my private spot he's parents will say its their house. i cant do anything about that.

I would just say to them thease are my toys and they are for little ones a chocking hazard not for little children and YOU ARE NOT YOUR COUSIN'S BABYSITTER OR NANNY. They should not be pawning your cousin off on you because you are family and avaliable. If they don't get it keep standing up talk about it with other family members and get them behind you. and tattle.

We have left restaraunts where there were families with uncontrolled hellion-spawn before! It is either one extreme or another with some people! They either get too harsh or not harsh enough!

Yeah, I got pretty pissed the other week. I was on the train home after a long day of Polytech, and these annoying brats were screaming at the top of their lungs, but instead of telling the obnoxious brats off for disturbing the peace, these stupid women, (The kids' parents) were making stupid noises back at the little arsetards causing them to scream louder. People were moving away FROM them. I got pissed off after trying to sleep for hte umpteenth time, (It's an hour long journey from the town my course is in by train) and just turned and said "Look, excuse me, rather than causing your kids to scream louder, and annoy the other people, can you please ask them to be quiet? It's not fair on those of us who want to actually enjoy to journey in PEACE."

"Don't tell me how to raise my kids! Why don't you mind your own business!" I just shook my head and muttered "Bitches." under my breath and moved to the next carriage at the next stop.

I had something very similar happen to me on an airplane....an 8 hr flight! 3 kids, none over 8 yrs old, got on the plane with both mom and dad. From the second they set foot on the plane, I think everyone aboard knew there'd be issues! They proceeded to run the aisles rough-shot til they were corralled by the flight attendant (NOT parents) and told to sit down, which they reluctantly did. After endless whining while the plane was gaining altitude when they could get back up..they were finally allowed to move again, which they did with all sorts of demonic gusto! Ripping off peoples' drinks and food, stealing items from luggage they could get into, and screaming like they had been shot, and gods knows what else...all without the parents doing a thing! Finally, about 2 hrs in, they crashed in their seats, asleep next to their parents...Myself and another passenger decided to get a bit of pay-back! They really didn't like it when the headphones "slipped" out of the socket on the side of the DVD player and BLASTED explosions right in the youngest (and most obnoxious) child's ear! We suffered a bit more screaming, but I think the parents FINALLY got the hint! The kids were belted in the remainder of the flight!

It's not the kids that suck much of the time, it is their gene-donors that really get under my skin!
