Swords and blades are very Japanese. Think Samurai.

While we human have moved on to long range weapons, the technologically advanced Transformers are reverting back to ancient close quarters weapons.

I think it's much simpler than that: hitting the 'Attack' button 3 times to stab dudes with some kind of electric axe is just plain cool.

Sometimes, it's not just about the care.

My Classics Cliffjumper came with a broken arm door.

Movie Megatron came with loose right are, loose joints, and feet automorph that doesn't work as intended.

From the looks of it, some other parts may go wrong soon.

If it's going to have those honking big 2" missiles - I'll pass - they just look stupid. I only like em, if the 2" missiles are to scale for the figure.

Exactly. Too much tension and crack, there goes the figure. Not only that, but you mentioned something about old toys.

They don't make them like they used to!

Its not the rough handling that breaks toys, its sun damage, and general gravity and friction related problems that cause alot of damage to many collectors.

It doens't matter how nice and gentle you are to your toys, friction from moving joints over time will always lead to weak joints, which then allows more gravity related accidents to occur.

wow a good scientific explation! simple yet reasonable!

id prefer the blade over the missle, nice change of pace. Why they couldn't have done this with prime's weapon, I don't know.

I think the toys were made before the movie and they didn't know that Prime would use a broadsword in the movie.
