Meh, I think all hobbies ahve sopme element of "childishness" involved, especially from a Freudian perspective.

Heh, If I wanted a serious hobby, it would not be collecting toys. This I do for fun and for mostly, very childish, self serving reasons.

It would be more childish if they were gotten purely for play reasons.

Since many of the people here collect to display, it is not as childish, like people who collect teddybears and plastic soldiers for display purposes.

And transforming a TF is not 'play'?

Childish or not, it really depends on how a person sees it. There will always be someone that thinks of you as 'childish' collecting toys. But when we are talking about collecting 'toys' that has very complicated & advance toy engineering, with a price tag that rivals a diamond ring, it can be way more serious than what others think it is. So it really depends.

I think every adult should retain some part of their childhood... it brings a feeling of satisfaction and helps to retain memories that can easily be lost. I think the world would be a better place if people weren't so serious 24/7. Those who view it as childish have lost touch with their childhood and I feel sorry for them and their insecurities.

I am pretty serious about my collection AND it is part of my inner child. But I would never consider any hobby childish.

It's hard to call something childish when you have over 1,000 of it. 8)

I used to think it made me look like a little kid, but no one who looks at my collection thinks so--they just stare and say "wow."

I could care less what people think about my hobbies. My wife doesn't care. My friends don't care. And I had a bunch of stuff on display when I was single and the girls that came over "after hours" when the clubs closed didn't care either. I love carrying a piece of my childhood around and I'm not afraid to admit it or in this case, display it. I'm comfortable with who I am.

Childish? According to Captain Kirk, it's more a sign of advanced intelligence.
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.
