I was wondering about that too. I thought maybe it could allude to some connection that Optimus and Megatron might have in this continuity, and maybe will be explored in future movies. But since this is Michael Bay there is no way of telling if it was intentional or if it was just an accident.

Oh please. If you don't like the movie or the designs, fine. But please don't resort to deliberately reading too much into dialogue to justify your dislike.
Just so you know, I like you.But seriously, that's just the feeling I got as soon as he said that. I wouldn't call it justification for anything, it's just the vibe I got from that one line. Don't you ever get those kinds of cringing feelings when you hear a bad line from a movie? Or one that sounds like something weird that it wasn't intended for? Well that's what this particular line did when I heard it and that is instantly what I thought when I heard it.
Of coarse, mabye that could be because the day prior I had seen This on youtube. I don't think that helped any.

Not a fan of Megan Fox either. The word USELESS comes to mind.

I'm Australian, and I found her accent annoying. There's just something about an Australian accent among American ones that is just... wrong. The same applies if it's an American among Australians though. It's very strange.
