Since that Starscream is an F-22, I would vote for the latter and the Aurora is perfect.

Jetfire is supposed to be an Aerial ace and since he and the aerialbots are the only jet autobots they need to be more powerful than the seekers and other flying Decepticons...

I'm telling you that's why Jetfire needs to be/probably WILL be a Joint Strike Fighter if he shows up in the next movie

basically the JSF is going to be the Aircraft that eventually replaces the F-18 on all aircraft carriers, its a vertical lift plane

you remember that aircraft that went after John McClaine in Live Free or Die Hard...with the semi truck...THAT'S the JST...that flick was the first time it had been used on film.

How many of these threads do we need?

I'd like to see Prowl, and I'd like him to be a bit of a jerk, a la the comics.

I can't see Skywarp and Thundercracker being F15's if they updated Starscream. Are the F15's still in use? I'm not sure they'd have two robots with the same alt.mode at all.

Cant have him as an F1 car - since that would look too weird - when have you ever seen an F1 car on the road. The above is the closest real car to the F1 look I could find.

Sideswipe/Sunstreaker/Red Alert could be the new Lambo's of course

I'd also like to see some triple changers. Blitzwing would be ok to do since a jet and tank have similar masses. I cant see how springer would work though - without mass shifting being introduced.

Grimlock(barring a way to make him a T-rex):

Personally, I think it fits. It's tough-looking enough that Grimlock would like it. Plus it's got an ugly, function-over-beauty thing going that fits his character. While all the other Autobots are picking stylish alt modes, Grimlock'd be picking the one that allows him to kick Decepticon butt...but still keep up with the other alt modes speed-wise.
Also, it has enough mass to warrant his being bigger than the other Autobots...keeping with tradition.
