Out of proportion? How? Do you mean because hes bigger? Because he is supposed to be.
He is in now way supposed to Tower over Prime, or is my memory failing me?
I agree with Bonger. UM (in armor) was really the same height, maybe slightly taller, than Optimus and the other Leader-type guys. It's no different to how Motormaster's entire truck mode (cab + trailor) form a robot that's the same height as Optimus.
No no, magnus was always bigger. Just because Prime is the leader doesn't mean hes the biggest...look at Skyfire (Jetfire) for example. UM was a big mo-fo, lets keep it that way.
Sky/Jetfire was certainly bigger than Prime and Megs, as was Omega Supreme -- I'll never argue against that. UM OTOH was simply bulkier than Optimus, not taller e.g. watch the Prime death scene in the animated Movie (where he gives the Matrix to Magnus) and then çome back to me.
Your a muppet. How can you tell the height between them in that scene? ONE OF THEM IS LAYING DOWN ON A BED! And Magnus is bending over most of the time. Trust me! UM is bigger than prime in everyway.
Besides, you can't judge characters sizes by the animation because back then the animators didn't give a ****. In episode 9 Bumblebee is fighting Ravage and they are the same size. Then in Megatrons Master Plan Ravage is only a little bigger than a human.
I'll conclude with the fact that in Alt mode, Prime and Magnus are the same size with trailers. However in robot mode Prime doesn't combine with his trailer...where as UM does! Therefore making him bigger by far.
There...i win.

It doesn't matter what you wrote. You loose because:
1. You went down to name calling (who calls someone a 'muppet' anyway?)
2. You misspelled 'You're'. If you're going to flame, it should be free of spelling mistakes. Like splitting aces, it's a rule.
(The thing is, I agree with you. I think Ultra Magnus is bigger than Prime to a certain degree. It only makes sense. The added bulk of the armor almost demands it. You can't really argue scale in G1 when Metroplex is changing size every other scene.
But standards of argument apply, even to Transformers. The first to call names is likely the one who can't really back his argument. Maybe it's a UK thing...and I'm not picking on the country or anything. But I tend to see a lot of Brits hurl an insult in the middle of an otherwise decent debate when I wouldn't have expected it.
However, I digress.)

I don't have much to add to the argument. I just wanted to say that if you're going to call someone out on their spelling, you should make sure that yours is on point.
For the record, I've always picture UM as bigger than Prime because he combines with his trailer. Just seems logical to me.

Um, Motormaster, anyone? The cartoon and comic Magnus was never ever seen or known to be a smaller robot wearing armour.
Anyway, I don't wish to start fights over this. I have some pretty strong views on scale and size so I usually chime in on such discussions. I don't expect everyone to agree w/ my opinions though. To each their own.
He'll a big MP toy for sure but they should make a set of non transforming armour add-on pieces for cost redaction beacuse most of the collector will only disply UM in robot mode.skywarp-2 wrote:If you have seen any of the Ultra Magnus kit bashes and such, then you know, for a fan, it's difficult to produce. With the recent hoax of the possible Hasbro slipping by us a US retail release of Ultra Magnus and such, I thought it was high time to atleast address this issue.
A complete Ultra Magnus, for me is one of the most anticipated Masterpiece figures from the Masterpiece line up. I for one was hoping Hasbro decided to recolor the 20th anniversary Prime and decided to sneak in a well engineered trailer into the mix.. but that's just wishful thinking on my part...
however if they do it, then they should at least consider the guide lines set forth by the experts over at http://www.iaconcity.com
If your gonna do it, then the chest shield should give him form and his body should look like a body and not a brick. He should have articulation enough to be able to do this pose:
And his body should have enough support to sustain this:
I love the realism this guy puts into his 3D models, and even shows how the armor can buckle the feet inside, which is another issue the toy manufacturers should look at in designing a trailer for him..
More eye candy:
I love how the feet have the back trailer wheels in the armor, its really a cool feature that I think the toy would benefit from...from the looks of it, the trailer feet encase the MP-02 Magnus feet, and the upper body is encased in a chest box, which I hope if they include this in the actual toy someday will have some layers to allow for movement...
Now here is a Question, would you want his chest to be made of Glossy chromium type red and blue plastic like the Transmetals?
Well let us all hope that if they do a Masterpiece Ultra Magnus and they finally release him, whether it be Takara Tomy or Hasbro, let's at least hope they do him correct, and with out him ending up like a Brick!
