Admittedly, I could have been more polite about pointing it out, as it was probably an honest mistake by Nemesis Maximo.

On the other hand, if I had been more polite, I might have missed out on the sense of validation that inevitably comes with triggering thin-skinned right-wingers.

Ah hopefully the satisfaction is a worthwhile exchange, any time I’ve tried with just go back to lacquering their windowless vans in bumper stickers quoting genesis, they just keep on keeping on.

That exchange wasn't about the pictures, it was about the language used in the comments on the pictures.

I remember a very long time ago, when I was much younger and, well, stupid, arguing that "Jap" is not offensive because it's just truncating the word "Japanese". On this very board. That was insensitive towards the history of the word and the personal experiences of some board members, and it was wrong. Fortunately, another user rightly (if not politely) corrected me back then, and the staff seemed to be in agreement that that sort of language was not permitted. I could have reported NM's post to the staff, but as he was probably simply unaware of the term's historical usage, it didn't seem appropriate to involve staff and get him stuck with an official warning. I could have written a lengthy treatise about why ethnic slurs shouldn't be used, and why "Jap" is a slur, but that sort of thing usually invites a "TLDR" and/or people getting upset about me being a preachy academic. A snarky comment seemed sufficient to get the point across, and it seemed like a proportional response to the situation.

So... about that spider bot? I'm excited for her... but all these Masterpieces rolling out sure are making retail collecting a pain in the arse. Kind of glad i'm not also into Marvel Legends or really deep into Star Wars Black....

The spider alt mode for the upcoming Masterpeice MP-46 Blackwidow (aka Beast Wars Blackarachnia) has received a lot of flack from fans but we never get a good look at it in the images, which constantly give us more of the bot mode, and for good reason as it looks spectacular. However, some additional images from the Malaysia Asia Comic Con give us our best look yet at the spider beast mode, especially the back, so you can see how clean it can be when transformed properly. We also get a good view of the back of Blackarachnia.

Here are all the images we have from the event so far. Some coming from Andrew, who sent them in, and others found on the Planet Iacon Facebook page.

I'd have to see comparison pics to when it was mistransformed, but it still looks pretty rough to me in spider mode. The robot mode look insanely amazing, but at the cost of making the beast mode look pretty bad.

In this picture, it looks like her spider mode could potentially be a Titan Class Headmaster. I can't unsee it!

What I can't see it...oh wait, there it is yup, there's a face that won't be going away any time soon

For that kick-ass bot mode, the spider mode is not so bad.


One of the mode must make some compromises to accommodate the other and it's normal that here, it's the bot who won.

"Cheats" is an understatement.

Super excited to eventually get her! She does look really good in robot mode, and I do love the stand

I think the fact that the robot mode is 150% perfect and the spider mode is 80% perfect is pretty damn perfect. I mean come on, how can anyone conceivably believe there’s a better way to achieve an actual inflation in plastic form? The fact that the spider mode is as good as it is is nothing short of amazing. I think the naysayers have absolutely unreasonable expectations of a physical object. They’re probably the same people that go out to eat on a Saturday Night with a party of 14 and get upset because they have to wait for a table big enough when they didn’t call ahead to make a reservation.

It was the best word to come to mind at the moment, but yeah. There's some serious reality-warping with Blackarachnia in the show.
