Sorry, but no, they can't. LOTR and Pirates 2+3 were pretty much shot all in one big production, back to back with the cast committed to the shooting schedule. If they're just working on the script for 2, and signing actors, the tempo just isn't there. You'd be lucky to see 2009, the 2010 date sounds more likely.

It might be doable. I mean they pretty much got this movie put together in the course of about 2 years or less.

Sometimes spending too much time (such as Lucas) helps to show the crap going in before the name goes on.

the first movie always takes the longest to make..they have to do all the design studies and all that..etc etc...find actors..directors, producers...etc etc...

after this first one is released, any sequels will be able to be completed a lot quicker...there wont be wasted time on bot design (they allready have the basic idea of what they will look like) they allready have the main characters..the script is allready being worked on...

i see TF2 being able to be completed in 2 years easily

I have to agree, even though bay does great action, he does very low-brow movies. Okay, we know TFs is not Beowulf or Macbeth, but some plot twists without the Bay cliches would be great for once.

We have Bay now, no matter what, but I think someone like Christopher Nolan (Batman Begins), George Lucas, or Spielberg himself would be MUCH better directors than Bay.

Hell, why not just get the guy who directed Casshern, give him $200 million US, and tell him to do it right! Casshern was only $6 million to make and looks fantastic!

Lucas is an idiot, he hasnt directed a good movie since return of the jedi! If he made a TF movie it would be all CGI backgrounds, about two real actors who couldnt act to save their lives, like haden chritianssen, and the transformers would look like Jar Jar and have lightsabers. LAAAAME

Nolan....i love the guy but TF isnt a serious enough source material to be directed by him. Speilberg would have the robots trying to turn into humans more than likely, or have some sorta shmaltzy emotional plot. And although i love his movies and i think AI is great, i dont think he'd do a good job with the TF's.

The first idea does seem a lot better than the second idea. But Second Idea IS feasible, so they COULD go for it if they wanted.
