Why dont you watch some G1 and do your own research.

I have watched all of G1 and I'm not the one makeing the claim that Megatron was able to opperate on his own. You made the claim, you provide the evidence to back it up.

The only times I can remember where Megatron wasn't handled by Starscream he was handled by Soundwave or Optimus Prime. Yes Optimus Prime actully used Megatron while in gun mode once.

Do you really think I didnt know that Prime used Megs in gun mode????

And you also leaving out other seekers that held Megs.

I don't remember any other seekers useing him.

The one time Optimus had him if I remember right Starscream started out with Megatron, fumbled him, Soundwave caught him, Optimus beat the crap out of Soundwave, and then took Megatron. And I belive all the while Megatron had a few shrunken Autobots and exsperimental fuel inside him. Or I could be confuseing a couple different episodes.

Yes your confusing a few things.

A] Optimus held Megatron at least twice.
B] Neither case involved Starscream fumbling Megatron.
C] Neither case involved Soundwave catching Megatron
D] Neither case involved Optimus beating the crap out of Soundwave.
E]Neither case involved a shrunken Autobot experimental fuel

A. I only remember 1 time.
B. & C. There was at least one time where someone dropped Megatron and someone elce caught him before he transform back into robot mode.
E. I didn't say a shrunken Autobot experimental fuel. I said a FEW shrunken AutobotS and exsperimental fuel. If you're going to claim something I said is wrong could you at least quote me correctly when you do it? :P

Actully I wasnt making a claim.

I was trying to give you a little bit of info so that you wouldnt continue to be ignorant of the facts.

And I suggest you watch all of G1 again.Because your memory sucks.

And boy are you hungry to try to prove me wrong.Trying to challenge me to back it up because you think I cant is foolhardy.

And you should know better.But since your incapable of doing your own research.

Not connected to the time Optimus used him.

Like you said and I agreed,your mixing a few episodes up.

My mistake....I read it quickly.

The first was dead wrong the second is not exactly right.

None of the times Optimus used Megs was when there were shrunking Autobots in Megs.

One of the times Optimus used Megs an experimental energy source was in play, but it wasnt in Megaton till Optimus was ready to fire him.

From the looks of it he transformed, fired once, then it quickly cut away. The next time he was seen he was back in robot mode. So he is apperently able to fire on his own but to fully opperate on his own would require his alt mode to be able to fly and if that were possible he wouldn't need anyone to hold him.

It's likely that he either dropped to the ground or converted back to robot mode right after fireing that one shot.

Honestly doesn't make alot of sence for Megatron to transform at all when he's more powerfull in robot mode. All he can do in gun mode is shoot and he could do it in robot mode as well so what the hell is the point? Technically Galvatron is just as bad but at least his alt mode is more powerfull than a hand gun.

Whatever the case may be G1 Megatron is just the worst transformer in history. I'm rather ashamed of him.

I dont care if he fired once or a million times.

My point is made.

Honestly doesn't make alot of sence for Megatron to transform at all when he's more powerfull in robot mode.

Thats not exactly true.

It was never said that his gun mode was any weaker.

Many believe it was because he required some one to fire him but as we can see thats not the case.

It really depends on the series for me.

In generation one, I thought Starscream was hilarious simply because he was played off as Megatron's b*tch half the time =p As leaders, I disliked them both since neither could get anything done, but you can't fault either for never giving up. I'm an Autobot fan, typically, but there are a few Megatrons and Starscreams that I like as far as character goes.

Beast Megatron was an example of a Megatron character I thought was pretty awesome, and Armada Starscream changed my outlook of the character greatly. My favorite rivalry between the two was in Galaxy Force, though: Destrons were actually winning a fair amount of battles for one thing, Master Megatron had a very tenacious, witty, manipulative personality that seemed to actually get things accomplished, and Starscream's treachery actually went somewhere; he actually DID something with his ambition for once (and got pretty far with it, I might add).

~~~~~
As for whether or not Megatron pulls his own trigger and can fly in gun mode, I remember seeing this on several occasions when I'd watched through G1 previously. My fiance and I are actually in the middle of watching season 2 again, so as I see these episodes, I'll write them down for reference in case this ever comes up again. I'm fairly curious, myself :P
That is exactly true.
Gun Mode: He can shoot things
Robot Mode: He can shoot things, has an energon mace, sword, and is preddy damn strong with just his bare hands.
Hence he can shoot things in both modes so why does he need to gun mode to shoot things?
for the same reasons that after we invented the A-bomb, we still manufacture hunting rifles. Different needs for different circumstances. you could drive nails with a shoe, but a hammer is a lot more effective.
i always thought gun mode was a more powerful shot, since power could be diverted from so many unused systems. he can focus on one simple task and put all his effort into it.
also decepticon flight.
we've seen soundwave float into the sky as a boombox to board skywarp or thundercracker. I have no problem believing giant friggen robots, proven capable of "antigravity flight" (no obvious rockets or such) could float, hover, or even "fall with style"
Well since my experience is just Beast Wars and the Unicron Trilogy I'd have to say Megatron is a damn good leader in each of these. (Except Energon, but noone was good in that.)
But Starscream was well...Starscream.
In Armada he was a well thought out character with this father/son thing going on with Megs.
In Energon he sucked on ROTF Devastators Wrecking Balls.
And In Cybertron he was a power-hungry asshole that you wanted to see win.
So if it's based on leadership Meg's takes it, but if I had to say just on personal preference it goes like this.
1.BW Megs B-)
2. Armada Starscream
3. Cybertron Megatron
4. Cybertron Starscream
And the Energon rejects don't belong on any list of likeable characters. :MAD:
No its not.
Dont you get tired of being wrong????
You should look thing up before you post.
Being capable of more actives is not the same as being stronger/more powerful in robot mode.
So you fail.
Simple fact is according to his bio:
Megatrons arm mounted cannon can fire a blast up to 12 miles long with enough power decimate a earth city block.
In his gun mode his destructive power is even more concentrated and powerful
Starscream hands down. He's the epitome of the Decepticons. Shoot first, ask questions later. Although I really can't relate much to him, he's always been a favorite of mine. And his voice, diabolic. :evil:
but out of the two options Megatron is better
