Agreed. However TakaraTomy will be putting it right too, possible as MP-07 with their USA edition Starscream with basically the same deco as the Hasbro one only more gray than white with less of that damn weathering Hasbro have smeared all over it.

So anyway I did it, I applied some stickers but I went for the less is more approach. Although don't with agree the idea of coveing a $100 toy in tacky cheap stickers I felt he really needed the stripes, but the stripes only. They look awesome:

http://www.thetaverntable.com/gallery/m ... temId=3062
http://www.thetaverntable.com/gallery/m ... temId=3065
http://www.thetaverntable.com/gallery/m ... temId=3053
http://www.thetaverntable.com/gallery/m ... temId=3056

I tried one of the 'realistic' warning stickers and it looked like ass so I removed it, why those stickers are opaque and not clear I will never know. It's such a shame TakaraTomy do so much so right and then throw it all way on the details.

Excellent gallery AK. I'm totally undecided on the stickers right now. I will have some tough choices to make when Skywarp arrives later this week...

Thanks, TBH he looks great without the stickers if you at all unsure I'd keep him clean. However I do think the stripe add an extra G1 quality without compromising the realism of his alt-mode which slapping Decepticon insignias all over him definitely would.

Yeah, he makes MP-03 look like a generic piece of junk.

I don't know about that, he sorta makes MP-03 look interesting in a way because he's clearly identify as Skywarp and the other is a bit of a mystery. I've always quite liked MP-03's deco because it reminds me of Superlink Nightscream.

You're seriously the british version of me. I also like MP-03 because he reminds me of Energon Starscream. Nice gallery, by the way. I like how different Skywarp's face seems even on the 'neutral expression' side. 8)

Anyway, Skywarp looks amazing and I think I'm going to have to pick one up. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed on a full Seeker set, I've always liked Thundercracker since he was the first one I actually purchased when the reissues came out.

My feeling about him was that he was too devoid of color. While I'm like Romeo staring at Juliet in regards to the black, its absence of color demanded a little more. And, as I didn't put the Decepticon insignia on MP03, thought Skywarp needed them. Hence him looking really bloody cool!

I received my Skywarp Monday night and finally unboxed him yesterday. In the words of Jim Carrey from Bruce Almighty... B-E-UTIFUL. What a great piece. Now comes the inevitable debate; to apply the stripes to the wings OR keep him solid black. What's the consensus out there?

Well you've heard my opinion on the matter, the stripes add a G1 feel without compromising the realism of his alt-mode too much but he looks equally as good without them. The Decepticons insignias give him even more G1 one-ness but at the expense of the realism/disguise. The kill markings are pretty cool and I'm conciedering adding them but they all give away the face hes a Decepticon/Skywarp. The warning stickers, air force insignias and tail fin markers look like crap due to the fact they are opaque and not transparent like they really should be.

Bonger wrote:And then...and then...AND THEN THE CONEHEADS!!

I find that doubtful as they would required some remoulding, all three cone heads have different wing configuration, and a change to the transformation scheme, its no longer a case of flipping the nose cone up over there heads there is no way of making this mould a cone head without taking it apart.

I got my Skywarp today and I have to admit that he is one beautiful toy. When you remove him from his box and there is a sleek black jet just asking to be transformed. I think they have slightly altered the mold as I find him easier to transform than Starscream specifically the torso. The colours feel G1 even though there are differences (unlike another Masterpeice seeker I can think of). The black paint job is perfectly shiny and I defy anybody to to be impressed with robot or jet mode. One thing I don't get with the mold is the spreading wings feature. After I transform Skywarp and Starscream I close the wings to give it a more G1 look.

I have applied the wing and tail stripes and the Decepticon logos. When he is in robot mode you don't really see the the logos and the wing stripes look cool in robot mode.

Why could Starscream have looked this beautiful. If you put him Skywarp next to Starscream your attention is just drawn to Skywarp. Good job Takara.

P.S. Maybe Ryan should do a "Right Toy, Right Colors" featurette.

Yeah, sticker free is indeed the way to go. After looking at the stickers on photo for a while, I'll probably go sticker free. Transformed, there's no doubt who it is.

I finally got him! My Skywarp collection is now almost complete. Just need that Beast Wars Skywarp...

Anyhow! Despite going through the nightmare of transforming him, I am so very happy with him! This is perhaps the most impressive figure I've ever bought and he looks simply amazing. He will be proudly displayed for all eternity.

Finally had a chance to transform my Skywarp last night when I got home from work. I don't have MP-3 so this was a new experience for me. Thankfully it was a challenging transformation but not too difficult. The robot mode is just as gorgeous as the jet mode.

I did apply a few stickers, the large wing stripes and the two large Decepticon stickers. The rest didn't look right on the figure to me.

The only minor complaint I have (and it's barely worth noting) is that the silver abdomen pieces don't seem to slide down all the way for me. They leave a large gap between the canopy section and the silver pieces. It's probably nothing but just seems a bit off to me.

Mine arrived yesterday.

Now I've actually had a lot of problems with Takara over the past 2 years. I've had two deformed Transformers (Heat damage to both Soundblaster and Encore Prime) which BBTS happily replaced for me. Then my first MP Starscream was beat to ****, right out of the package and had scuffs all over his face.

I was a little afraid that Skywarp would be a problem too.

Now my fiance got Skywarp for me a my Christmas present. So, he won't be up on display for a lil while yet. S'all good. She's a Princess for getting this for me.

Never the less, we agreed to open him up and check for defects...just in case.

Happily, Skywarp was problem free and beautiful. It's an excellent display piece and there do seem to be some improvements overall.

I say, no stickers on him for the record. He just doesn't need them.

I got mine yesterday too. As predicted I want Starscream and Thundercracker yesterday. I didn't get the original Starscream because of the colors so I didn't have any idea I would dig the mold so much, Transformation is the perfect level of difficulty to me. It did take me a few minutes to get the grey chest halves figured out though. Maybe it's because I was trying to watch Heroes at the same time. Maybe I'm just slow. I dunno, regardless he's awesome. I will be applying the stripes and most likely the faction symbols as well. The stripes are one of the things that sold me on him. Counterpunch, your fiance gets a thumbs up from me bud. That's awesome.

Wow you guys. You're making me progressively more envious. And I already have MP-03

lanzajr26, I think the gap is normal... it shouldn't be huge, but it's there.

CP, you're a lucky man. My girlfriend actually got me MP-03 last Christmas. I wonder how she'd feel about buying me the exact same figure again...but in different colors!
