I just received Skywarp yesterday and it is an exceelent figure. Sturdier than Starscream. When the Hasbro Starscream comes out, the Takara Starscream will be demoted to Thundercracker and my seekers will be complete (until Takara releases an official Thundercracker in a better shade of blue).

This Skywarp is sturdier  Though I tried standing him without his stand and he is top-heavy like MP Starscream. So he has to squat just to stand. Unfortunately it looks like he is about to "answer a call of nature" when he is put in this position. I also changed his face, and it looks like there also is no mistakes with this last feature I checked. Mp MP Starscream has several scratches on him before I got him, but on Skywarp I see none at all.

Oh no he doesn't. Theres a good 15+ picks here in my MP-06 Skywarp gallery to prove my point. He is top heavy but so long as position his legs/feet right you can get him to stand in all sorts of poses.

Those big... panels hanging down from both sides of hips. They look like they can either go on his hips or his lower legs. Am I right? A couple of pics on page 8 look like they are on his lower legs. I guess he has two little pegs on his lower legs for attaching them?

Yes, you can plug them into the lower legs, but that would require removing them from the ball joint at his hips, which is actually - in both my SS and SW - a pretty tight fit. So switching it to snap onto his lower legs isn't ideal.

But it would make him look more cartoon accurate, wouldn't it?

Those hip panels are a major turn-off for me.

Yes you can remove the hip panels and put them oh his legs for a more G1 accurate looks. However you will notice from my gallery they are only mounted that way in some of the airborne images, reason being they protrude to a point below his feet meaning he can't stand on his own two feet in that configuration without tilting the panels forwards or backwards so they are at a angle to his legs.

In that case, I personally would just take them off and leave them aside in robot mode.

I don't get what the point of those things is, or why they need to be there. Look at the Classics Seekers - they actually look more accurate than the MP's.

Sorry to rain on your parade. I guess I'm just underwhelmed by the design of the MP Seekers. The hip panels, the tiny heads...meh.

I quite like those hip pieces, they add some much needed bulk to the lower half of the body. I would rather they would have stayed attached to the leg and been able to bend in the middle but maybe that was asking too much.

I am wondering if I should apply Skywarps stickers. It doesnt seem right not to have the wing and tail stripes. Do you think Reprolabels will come up with a better set?

Has anyone with MP03 and MP06 noticed that Skywarps shoulder fins are at a different angle to Star Screams. Or have I just transformed him wrong?

You could put them on and then if Reprolabels comes up with better ones, you can remove the old ones and set on the new ones. Unless you want to keep the stickers it came with looking nice on their paper or something.. :-? But I don't know if the stickers are able to be reset on the paer nicely or if they are able to be removed cleanly off of a figure once firmly applied, as I have never done that kind of thing before.

Odds are you would never be able to get those stickers back on the paper nicely. I would recommend patience.

Those stickers look way too fragile to be able to put them back on the sheet once applied.

Patience it is then. Don't know why they didnt paint the stripes on as per Starscream.

They are there because I assume it was the best solution available to the designer in order to achieve his aim of an ultra realistic alt mode. The MP seekers and the Classics Seekers were designed to entirely different briefs. With the MP Seekers alt-mode accuracy came first, and so the G1 accuracy of the robot mode suffered a little. Personally I think he did a pretty good job of archiving his goal without compromising on the robot mode too much. Besides the classics seekers aren’t without their problems regards G1 accuracy.

Bringer wrote:Is it durable? Would I have to worry about the wings like you have to on MP-03?

It's durable, TBH I really don’t know what alj the fuss is about on the 'durability' issue, MP-03 and MP-6 are the same figure they are as durable as each other and IMO both stay together fine. Obviously they are more fragile than you average basic or deluxe figure, but then these are high end high detail adult collector’s pieces and should be treated as such. So long as you're not bashing them together in mock battles or forcing there joints the wrong way you'll have no problems.

Crumplezone wrote:Has anyone with MP03 and MP06 noticed that Skywarps shoulder fins are at a different angle to Star Screams. Or have I just transformed him wrong?

You've transformed him wrong both figures are identical aside from the paint and the alternate faces.

Ravage XK wrote:Patience it is then. Don't know why they didn't paint the stripes on as per Starscream.

Actually I though the opposite upon finding Skywarps stripes came unapplied, why didn’t they do the same with Starscream? If they had I could have chosen to leave them off! The stripes are actually pretty good quality, in fact all the stickers are good quality they just require a steady hand to apply. My only gripe with them is that the stickers that should be on transparent are opaque and therefore look like crap when applied.

I found Skywarp not to be as tight as Starscream. The transformation was easier, I had no worries about breaking anything. However, the flap that covers his front landing wheel comes off very easily as do his wing flaps.

I found the opposite in my cases. My Skywarp had tighter joints, feel less flimsy and none of the flaps were loose. I think the biuld quality of this figure varies wildly from figure to figure rather than between the two decos. Chances are there are more good Skywarps than good Starscreams only becuase they probably worked a lot of the bugs out of the manufaturing process during the Starscream run.

I had a nightmare of a time transforming him. The joints were extremely tight and a lot of the panels did not want to move and I'm not a weakling in any sense of the word. I was scared witless the whole time I was going to break it, but I eventually got it done after a lot of sweating and fretting.

There is no way in hell I'm transforming him back. =x

I got my Skywarp on Friday and I must say that it is one beautiful figure. The jet mode really struck me when I got him out of the box, just awesome paint apps and all. I don't know, maybe the little things impress me too much. He does feel sturdier than MP Starscream.
