I was wanting to buy some figures from the 2007 movie, but I also wanted to know which ones were the best-looking both in robot and vehicle modes. I want to know about mistakes, stuff that shows but isn't supposed to, etc. I know none of them are absolutely perfect, I just want to get a good one.

So, opinions please?

Weapon: Sword
Leader Prime is the best, although Target's robo vision prime is a good sceond choice (smaller, cheaper).

Ironhide is good.

Ratchet is good and is probably the most durable figure of the line. A red and white version is coming.

Deluxe Jazz has funky arm ; otherwise good. Repaints in G1 colors and battle damaged are cming.

74 Bumblebee is plauged with breaking hoods.

Blackout looks good, but is too small. Wait for a bigger one (hopefully). It is also fragile.

Brawl has arm problems. Leader class Brawl is coming. I'd wait for that one.

Barricade is good, but has a trigger happy smashing arm.

Leader Megatron is fugly, but it is Megatron.

Starcream is pretty good. A g1 colored version is coming.

Skorponok is good, dsepite the ugly bot mode.

There are other figs not in the movie that are not mentioned above. 08 Bumblebee is out, but no comment because I don't have it yet.

Motto: ""Voted most likely to win a superlative""
Ironhide has an awesome looking robot mode, though his transformation is pretty involved, but over all great figure

Starscream, a very surprising, and large figure. many hated the design, but i think it came out excellent with lots of pose ability

Jazz...isnt terrible...lack of REAL arms...legs are kinda thick and have knee complications, but not an awful figure, very solid.

Brawl, despite his arm locking problem, which is kinda annoying, he is amazingly detailed and looks downright evil in both modes

Wreckage, awesome figure, his torso has a problem of transforming when his arms are lifted, but that hardly hinders his fantastic detail and posability

Barricade, not a bad looking robot mode, no head movement though, and that was a disappointment, but he has great sculpting and looks pretty evil and bat-like. the addition of the mini Frenzy figure is pretty cool. his leg joints are odd though.

Blackout, smaller than i expected, and his helicopter mode doesn't fully lock together perfectly, but its not an awful problem. he has amazing detail and pose ability, and an easy transformation. a great figure

Scorponok, features brilliant detail i think. his poorly designed robot mode is completely an afterthought, but that is because he technically is not supposed to have one...he never did in the movie. i do like the robot mode they gave him despite its poor design.

Bonecrusher, sweet vehicle mode, and a great Robot mode. his extending arm gimmick is pretty cool, and his transformation is satisfying. he looks incredibly pissed off, evil, and skeletal in robot mode, but its a very cool robot mode in my opinion

Swindle has a nice vehicle mode, a simple red sedan. his robot mode looks simple as well, with its mono-eyed head, three fingered hands, and just overall troop-ish look. his torso cannon is a nice touch. i have a liking or this figure.

Leader class Optimus Prime is near Perfection. an awesome powerful vehicle mode which translates to a powerful robot mode. a very sturdy figure...well worth the money

Leader Class Megatron, most people seem to bash this guy...i for one adore this figure. the detail is amazing and very well done. despite his lack of head movement, he looks dastardly evil, and his gimmicks in his arms are nicely done. his vehicle mode my look silly, but its alot like the one from the movie. i feel that he is worth his price point.

you also can't go wrong with the real gear figures...all 6 of the ones currently out are fantastic

Generally almost all the movie toys have some good factors and some bad factors. For example... Automorphs breaking... qc isn't good. Good factors maybe consist of the detail of some of the figures and their posing.

The only figure I am passing on is Scorpunok. The toy does nothing. His transformation is just too, well, useless. He is too large (should have been a scout size figure), and doesn't strike me as a true transformer to me. He never transformed in the movie, so we will never really know what he may have looked like in robot form. Even Frenzy transformed, and that would have made a good Voyager toy or scout if you wanted him with somewhat to scale of the other bots. Sort of.

I used to think the same, then I got it just for the hell of it. I like it much more than I though I would and it is sort of to scale with GI Joe size figures.

The thing that just strikes me about Deluxe Scorponok is the simple playability of the guy. He's not fragile, you don't have to articulate with care, and he's just... fun! You see the gears on his torso whirring during the claw drilling action, yet it's in the movie too, so it's movie accurate! He's just one of the guys that seem to me truest to the movie in terms of what he can do. Like, his drilling claws can actually open out if you alight them just right... just like in the movie! his tail strike action is pretty cool too; an interesting take on a simple oldie, the firing missile.

TFWire reviewer Spada has a really hilarious review of this figure. Check out the Monster Mode, as well as what he has to say about something that is just plain wrong about the robot mode :-)
