I haven't had any issues with the eye. Then again, I don't touch it.
It's a nice reproduction but my main gripe is that the Foot Clan figures (Shredder, Bebop, and Rocksteady don't fit well in the seats.)
Also, I have noticed the difference in plastic quality (having owned an original Technodrome myself). Main hull is definitely a lower grade plastic and the gun platforms use a soft plastic where the single platform included with the original was harder.
I like that the Brain scrambler comes with a strap rather than having to rely on a rubber band not included in the original set. Also the inclusion of two gunner platfroms rather than just one like the original, when it was clear it could've had two.
I give Playmates credit for reproducing this toy. I give it a B- as it's a faithful adaptation, but I would have preferred a 1:1 scale release and was willing to pay the $100+ for it. That extra 1.5 inches makes a difference where the figures are concerned.
Now, we'll see what they do with the sewer playset...
