Also...what is the initial retail prices on alternators and binaltech?

Alternators $20?
Binalteches $40?

The Alternators retailed for $19.99 and you could get the Binaltechs for anywhere from $40.00 to $60.00 depending on which one it was.

Sucks the Alt and BT lines are ending, totally sucks... but if you want in, GET some now! I'd recommend the Alts b/c they are priced better well some are. If you want the older ones like I do, they you have to be willing to pay at least $40+ and then it gets higher for the more popular ones, which only sucks b/c of all the movie n00bs getting into bidding wars. The only ppl who benefit from this situation are some sellers, never the buyers.

While the prices may not go down, the hype will cool off in a few months and there will be a few less people chasing these things. I only want a few more Binaltech and I can only spend so much, so bidding wars are out for me. I'm sure I'll be able to snag a Wheeljack for under $100 in a few months.

Wheeljack is a BT to avoid. Get the Alternator version instead. He has a funny neck (fixed on Alt), and mine has really weak forearm joints that fall off if you look at him wrong.

I've got hound, optimus, nemesis prime, mirage, the wrx one, Jazz(meister) ravage, rumble, and skids. I got into the line sorta late, and let me tell you, i regret it. They are nearly gone from most stores. Buy em while you can. They wont ever go down in price (as a whole) But some real nice alternatives to the alternators are the roadbots. You should check em out.

Got my Alternator Rollup at $9.81 recently.

Dang! I didn't catch the earlier $8.08 sale price. Have to settle for $9.81.

I just bought my first Alternator. I got the Jaguar XK version of Ravage on eBay for $30 shipped. That's about $5-$10 cheaper than I've seen him going for. Color me happy. My next one will probably be Sunstreaker and if I'm lucky my buddy will pick me up a Rodimus this weekend.

Do you think this defect is enough to take away from the BT version even if he is only on display? I'd hate to break up my BT collection and have just one Alternator character, those diecast cars are just so nice.

Doesn't stop me from displaying mine, I just wanted to let you know that in this case, the Alternator version was by far superior, where as before, I thought BT had pretty much all superior versions.

Couple of new questions:

Question #1) Is the kiss version of hot rodimus done in die-cast or plastic?

Question #2) Are there going to be more kiss / BTA versions coming? Or did that discontinue too?

Welcome to the board! :)

1) All KissPlay figures are completely plastic, but have high-quality paint jobs.

2) Both lines are discontinued, unfortunately.

Thank you for your answers, and for welcoming me to this board.

Out of curiousity how much of a superior paint job are we talkin about on the Kiss versions?

You're welcome! 8)

The paint jobs give the appearance of diecast, while being plastic underneath.

Many of the Alternator versions actually do have very nice paint jobs, just not all of them.

So considering just the Convoy and Rodimus figures, do you think there is any reason to buy them over the Alternator versions based on the toy alone (disregarding the KP bonuses)? I understand the difference in paint apps for Alt and Kiss Rodimus, but is the quality of the figure pretty much the same across both lines?

Get 'em while you can. They'll only go up. I actually stopped tryin' for Alts. Never got Jag Ravage, Rumble or Camshaft, and I refuse to pay sky high prices for 'em.

My walmart had about 25 alternators in a box above the movie display and when i went back to get some, a scalper had taken all of them except for four. I wanted the mustang.

Alternators usually use the base plastic color as its final color on most major parts of the car. Not a problem, really. Except there's no luster.

Binaltech make it to a point to really provide a paintjob on the car skin. As if these were really cars. Makes them shiny.

If you really want to spend $80 on a Transformer... I'd say go for it and buy it... but if you look at other stuff you can buy that are the same price but more fun like pc game or something... then I'd say no... don't buy it. Alternators are alright... but really I wouldn't go for the Binaltech and pay $80. I basically never spend more than $35-$40 on a toy, $50 max.

Dang! My Movie Megatron exceeded $50! The most expensive Transformer i ever got. And the weirdest and most senseless too. Can't understand what he should transform into. Lots of loose joints, falling apart, difficult to stand upright, elbow can't bend 90 degrees, blah ,blah, blah.... :-(

The actual quality of the figure itself would be the same, yes. I haven't heard of any differences in the build or plastic quality of the figures between KP and Alt versions. The major difference is the quality of paint and extra accessories. I'm personally going for the Alternators in most cases because they are more affordable, and for Rodimus, I like his paint apps more, with the G1-esque flames.

Thank you Kirbenvost, that's what I needed to know. I'm trying to prioritize my next few purchases. But now that I know KP Rodimus is roughly the same as his Alt counterpart (no diecast) I'm going to switch my next purchase to the Alternator Mirage.

Worth it?
Seems like a good deal on the first car ever in Binaltech.
