I am new to collecting Transformers so I need your opinions!

Binaltech came out retailing for $40-50..
Alternators I believe at $20...

Right now a lot of figures for Binaltechs have gone up to $80+
Alternators $40+

Should I wait till the price drops back down?
Or is the value going keep on increasing?

Whats your take/observations on this line?

Should I BUY NOW or WAIT?

Alternators has 2 problems, Movie Mania, and End of the line mania.

That means the prices aren't only hiked up by all the movie hype,. but because the line has officially come to and. no more will be produced, and this makes them specially appealing.

They'll probably go down in price after the movie hype dies down, but don't expect them to go back to 20 bucks very soon if at all.

Buy now, those prices will only continue going up!
They have been discontinued, and colecters will go to extreams to get them!

I'm planning on ordering Sunstreaker this weekend and he'll be my first Alternator. I don't know how many more I'll get after that because of the prices. I want Ravage just because I think the idea of him being a Jaguar XK is brilliant.

yeah ravage is my favorite by far i love the fact that he is a jaguar perrsonally i ally like the alternators they are really complex and they really remind me of the g1 toys for some reason

ya uim trying to find alternators right now, i might get tracks and OP alternators for $20 each + shipping. wondering if thats a good deal. what are some other good alternators to get? i have sideswipe and smokescreen, and ordered sunstreaker off hasbro... wonder if any other places carrying them still.

get 'em if you seem 'em.. cuz that most likely won't happen much longer.

a walmart near me has 15 each of alt. rumble and ravage for $15... i say buy now before they are gone for good

Yes, that's a good deal, especially for Prime. Others you'll definitely want are Mirage, Meister, and Shockwave. Good luck bargain-hunting! I'd suggest the Carbombya Bazaar on this site--usually someone willing to part with Alts. relatively cheaply. Just don't buy from lordstarscream68.

As a general rule of thumb with Transformer collecting; it is usually better to buy as soon as possible rather than wait for the prices to drop. Especially for figures that you feel may sell out quickly.

Sure, sometimes they later go on sale. More often than not, however, the figures sell out and you rarely see them in the stores after a few weeks.

I'd rather pay the regular price rather than pay more later, even at the risk of not saving a few bucks on sales.

This is an obvious answer. The only way the price will go down is if someone collecting alts/BTs drops outta collecting and no more join the ranks. With the movie out and more to come along with a new animated series, this isn't gonna happen fora long time. The price will go up for atleast the next 5 or 6 years.

But it now, or wait 5-10 years and see what the market looks like then. Oh wait, you're not gonna wait a decade to buy them are you. I doubt you could even wait a cpl of years.

Hence, imo, this is not a well thought out question.

Just go buy them if you want them. There are still some decent deals to be found for them on carbomya and ebay. This will no longer be the case in another few months.

Take G1 for example. 23 years, and the prices are still shocking. Yikes! Going up!

Alternators have an even wider appeal.

Car enthusiast collects them too. Even if some of them don't even care about the Transformers.

Good point. Molds like the GT 40 and Mustang, I don't see depreciating ever.

Well of course TF prices will not go down. Now is the time to sell, sell, sell, because so many new folks are interested in the market...making the older Unicron series, and previous more desired.

Expect this to continue through the release of the next 2 movies at least!

Both are pretty much dead... Haven't heard about any new KISS players stuff, in a long time, and that is what replaced the Bt line, basically. Slight hope for Takara as they do have the clear EHobby BT-Mirage coming in September.

Don't you have that San Diego thing with a Red Roddimus coming out too?

Yes there is a repaint of Alt Mirage for the SanDiego Comiccon, but again, it's not a mass release, unless you buy it from Malaysia on Ebay right now, or live in California.
