Anime is a term usually used to describe Japanese style animation, literally an animated manga. However I do say style, there has been American "anime's", such as Totally Spies, etc, which are called this as they follow the conventions of the Japanese manga drawing &/or plot style.
The term has been used to describe anything animated, but this is an incorrect description.
Simply put, if you're a manga fan (such as I) & you know what would count as real anime use 'Anime'. If you're just a general comic/cartoon fan, use 'Anime' only if you want to sound stupid & have people correct you.

Awwww, it's kinda sweet when people make that misconception. Anime is NOT the Japanese word for Anime![]()
English & Japanese share no lingual roots, so our words for animation would have absolutely no similarity whatsoever.
Anime is an English term to describe Japanese animation that the Japanese have since started to use. I don't know the Japanese for 'animation', but I have been told it before, it isn't anime.

It's a German Anime magazine, they claim to be the biggest in Europe (like being in 5 different Countries or so), are the oldest German mag of there kind with being over 10 years old.
It's quite good but quite pricy for my taste so I don't buy it so often, they also claim that Manga is the Jap word for Comic, which I also heared on the tely.

Manga does mean comic.
Oh you might as well have the basic class session.
(My spelling can sometimes be off, & I'm doing this from memory, sorry)
Manga - comic
Shōnen manga - Boys comic
Shōjo manga - Girls comic
Kodomo manga - Childrens comic
Seinen manga - Older boys/mens comic (18 years of age +, sometimes even aimed at Businessmen, not necessarily sexual)
Josei manga - Older girls/womens comic (again, 18+)
Hentai manga - "pervy" comic (think R rated as opposed to 18 rated which would be Seinen manga)
Anime - an English word, generally refering to the Japanese style of animation. Usually considered as a subset of animation.
Mangaka - Manga artist.
REMEMBER Japanese use context to provide information about whether something is Plural or Singular so Manga is both singular & plural.

Justicity wrote:Hrrrm, displays sound nice. I'd like to see a Nemesis v Ark diorama as seen in the first G1 episode or in the ('80s) movie.
Maybe an underwater set, showing (Beast) Megatron, Rampage & Dinobot2 entering the Nemesis as in the Beast Wars finale.

Oh yes that would be awesome, but I think it would be more of a statue then a model, since the Raven star models seem to smale to let something like that look good.
