BW Deluxe Fuzors: Torca
How did you get your favourite Beast Wars Toy?
pretty easy, actually. i saw this and 2 other preds (TM Iguanus and basic Powerpinch) on auction at eBay, loose but mint with their card backs secure and complete. i saw that no one was bidding on this set and at the last few minutes, i put in my bid, thank God no one was eyeing them, so i got the set for $10. shipping was another matter altogether ($22).

1. Likeness to cartoon or Media:
I saw Torca in action while reading IDW's Beast Wars: The Gathering comic book. he was (fairly) accurately represented in a much more dynamic form courtesy of DonFig's pencils, but the bugger is that he was the largest of the Maximals there; the deluxe toy isn't pretty accurate in terms of scale. RATING: four;)^;)^;)^
2. Posability:
Good, but not great, poseability. this thing is a tight-joint wonder, the ball joints are tightly constructed and looks like they'll be holding strong for a long time. joints are on the following:
shouders: ball joints
elbows: swivel joints for horizontal and vertical movement
hands: ball joints
pelvis: ball joints
knees: standard joint for forward-backward movement
no waist movement and head movement.
the bad thing though is that:
1.) he has side panels that hinder his arm movement in robot mode.
2.) no ankle joint, this could have helped a lot in poseability of this figure.
though despite this, he has amazing balance and his feet come with retractable claws at the back to aid in stability. also, due to the way the toy is constructed, it can actually have the same level of poseability while in beast mode. RATING: 3;)^;)^
3. Transformation:
Very Easy, in fact, there's no challenge to it at all. and this is why i like this figure, it'll last a long time due to the easy transformation.
Beast mode is a fusion between a killer whale (orca) and elephant (tusks). thus the name.
RATING: four;)^;)^;)^
4. Packaging:
Standard BW deluxe packaging, though mine came loose. but judging by the card back, i'd say these line of figures came with the best-ever packaging artwork and tech specs. there are excellent color pics of the other chase figures, transformation instructions (with TEXT, mind you!), plus the ever interesting tech specs. excellent.
RATING:;)^;)^;)^;)^;)^
5. Best feature:
Excellent sculpting and painting, tight joints and solid construction. also, his fin blaster can soak up water and fire an amazingly strong (for the size) burst of water! nice gimmick.
RATING:;)^;)^;)^;)^
OVERALL SCORE: 21 Points.
Would you recommend this toy?
YES. a pretty solid deluxe figure and one of the best to come out of the entire Beast Wars series.
more to come, folks!

Hell, missiles come out of his ASS.
Plus, his cartoon character was better than G1 Prime. Yeah. I said it.
Dem's ah Fightin' words where I come from Boy!! Geewuners come out of the wood work and wonder why Eradicator can say that with avatars and sigs of Optimus Pime.![]()
Just kidding, but yeah I agree, Beast Wars Optimal Optimus, was he shizznick! for hose who don't know here's the skinny on him form Wikipedia:
"* Ultra Optimus Primal (1996)
Primal's original gorilla body, loaded with hidden weapons and special gimmicks. The toy features a set of spring-loaded cannons which flip up over its shoulders and fire rockets, spares of which can be stored in compartments behind the head, or loaded into the second double-barreled launcher, which flips out of the left forearm. The other forearms contains a compartment with a flail weapon, and features other melee weapons in the form of two curved swords, which store in its back. There is a switch on the figures back which activates the movement of his arms - depending on the position of a sliding switches on either arm, Primal can either beat his chest gorilla-style, or spin his forearms for combat with his weaponry. The figure was the largest individual Maximal toy released in the pre-transmetal era. Because the animators made changes to the model, it was not totally accurate to the animated series - in addition to a "battle mask" and the lack of his mouth-slit (leaving him with a face looking much more like the original Optimus Prime), the toy was much larger compared to the other Beast Wars figures than Primal was in the show. This toy was sold under the name Optimus Primal Black Jack in Europe.
A transparent "Clear Convoy" redeco of this figure was released in Japan in 1997, and a flaming red-and-orange redeco was released as part of Beast Wars II in 1998 to represent his "Burning Convoy" form from the animated film. "

How did you get your favorite Beast Wars Toy?
My mom saw me looking at a picture of him on the internet in December 2004 and asked me what it was. I explained it, but said that I was having a hard time finding one, because I didn't have a Paypal account at the time. Mom whipped out her credit card and said, "merry Christmas."
1. Likeness to cartoon or Media:
Pretty accurate, apart from the jaguar-mode legs on the back. I actually like the toy better than the show counterpart.
2. Poseability:
Pretty good, all things considering. I wish that his neck and waist could rotate. However, he's got excellent articulation in his arms and legs, and his mouth opens, too.
3. Transformation:
Pretty simple. It's obvious that they couldn't get him to turn into a tape like the show, so Takara settled on a jaguar. Transformation is simplistic and results in some kibble under the cat-mode torso. However, he's got rocket jets.
4. Packaging:
Excellent. It comes with a holofoil card, and includes references to his Decepticon past.
5. Best feature:
He's got quite a few. He can "quick-draw" like he did in the show, thanks to a spring-fired mechanism. He also has pull-out rockets in cat mode, and his chest opens up to reveal his spark core. He also comes with a Decepticon sticker than can be applied to his shoulder, but it doesn't really stick that well and has a tendency to fall right back off.
overall score:
Not only my favorite Beast Wars figure, but my favorite Transformer. 10/10.
Would you recommend this toy?
Hell yeah.

I agree with Zemper, as a Beast Wars enthusist, I am very jealous of your acquisition of Ravage,Operation Ravage, I always liked how they incorporated the back story of his G-1 persona, and how he was upgraded with the "Maximal Upgrade Program" into what he was in the show. A really nice figure, the future Ravage from G-1, the concept, the idea and the actual Toy are all worth the time and money to track down. Great ratings review, if he's 10/10 he'd actually be 25 out of 25 on the scale set forth in previous posts.. still, nice review. I will certainly have to get a Ravage X-9 figure. What did you end up paying for yours?
I'm hoping Takara Tomy decides to continue their reissues line under the banner of 10th anniversary, like Skywarp-2 pointed out, Transmetals showcased a year later, which would work for the reissues. But then again who cares, they are an awesome series of reissues, put 10th anniversary on it, or not, doesn't matter, I just want those show accurate repaints and reworked and improved molds like they have been doing. If they continued into Transmetals, then we might see a reissues Ravage, or a Reissue Optimal Optimus, now that would Rock!![]()
Kudos to you Takara Tomy, your a Beast Wars fan's best friend.

I agree, and if you go to the seibertron Gallery section, you can really see the difference bewteen Hasbro's reissues and Takara's. Hasbro really could have been better at their reissues of Beast Wars, but since they weren't I actually Passed on th Hasbro Versions, they really made me mad with how they just dumped on the 10th anniversary like that with the way they just released sloppy looking figures, no special paint applications, old molds and old heads, nothing new or better then what takata Tomy took the time to do and do it right!!![]()
So, yeah, like Maximal Primal just said, thanks Takara Tomy!! you didn't have to do what you did for Beast Wars reissues, but you did it anyways......Hasblo was just making a quick buck and on to the next project.. Jerks!!! Anyone feel different because they added the transmutate figure, fine you can argue that, but one toy doesn't make up for a lackluster release....especially when you havce to buy the whole crappy reissued set to get that darn figure.. Sorry, this part of what happened a year ago, really burns me up..!!!

I think that my mom ended up paying about $90, although I've seen boxed and sealed versions go for upwards of $150 on BBTS and eBay.
Still, it's a great figure, and well worth the cost if you consider yourselves a Beast Wars or G1 completist. It's well worth the price, and I'd if you're interested in getting the figure, I'd buy it as soon as possible. It seems to be relatively rare, and I think that the demand for it is only going to increase.

How did you get your favorite Beast Wars Toy? I ordered him online from Hobby Link Japan. 1. Likeness to cartoon or Media: The Dinobot mold was/is very popular. The basic mold of Dinobot was used in several repaints and one remold. In the Beast Wars Transformers toy line, he was repainted as the former Autobot/Dinobot Grimlock, then repainted again as part of the Fox Kids! line of toys. In Japan, Takara repainted him to have more show-accurate colors as part of their Beast Wars line. Later, the basic Dinobot mold would be reworked to create Thrustol. His primary color is flesh pink, with black stripes and details around his eyes and on his nose. His beast mode eyes are orange. His beast mode teeth are colored white.
Detailing has always been a strong point of Beast Wars, and it is nice to take a look at this mold and see where the care for detail began in this line. Although his outer skin is "organic", the insides of the spinning blade clearly show a mechanical layer. His robot legs are designed to look like the internal structure of an organic being.
The sides look very much like rib bones, and the front sections look like there is one huge bone on each leg. The knee area shows what looks almost like a mouth with sharp teeth in it. In robot mode, There is a lot more of his flesh-pink color in plain sight now, including his sword. The inside of his spinning blade weapon is painted red. His robot head is primarily brown, and the faceplate is blue. The metallic paint and show accurate color applications delt by Takara really make him stand out as a wonderful figure. The figure features a paint scheme as seen in the TV series.;)^;)^
2. Posability: Very posable and movable, In beast mode Dinobot suffers from "undercarriage junk" syndrome. The parts which become his robot legs in robot mode act as his underbelly, but are a bit large and look out of place. However, the rest of the mold is very nicely executed with cross hatching designs used on the dinosaur "skin" and sharp looking claws. In beast mode, Dinobot has thirteen points of articulation. This includes his mouth opening and closing as well as five points of articulation on each beast mode leg. Overall, this is a nice beast mode, but the underbelly junk destroys a lot of the "robots in disguise" illusion.
In robot mode, the head of the Dino form becomes his chest, and there are pieces of a Dino mask that split apart to reveal his actual show accurate robot head, the hands are similar to what he had on the TV design, and the legs are pretty close as well, but the overall Robot mode suffers a bit from lack of cartoon accuracy. Still he's a nice bot regardless and boasts a whopping 16 points of articualtion in robot mode, which can certainly give the best articualted toys a run for their money. Not to mention his ability to hold wonderful dynamic poses.;)^;)^;)^;)^
3. Transformation:Begin Dinobot's transformation by removing his tail. Split it open to reveal his sword weapon. Detach the sword and keep the tail piece open as the "spinning blade" weapon. Set these aside for now. Next, flip up the hind piece where the tail piece attached. Fold down the robot legs and flip out the halves of the robot feet. Flip up the flanks of the beast mode and fold down the beast mode legs to form the robot arms. Now swing down the dinosaur head and twist the robot head around. The robot head has "mutant head" halves which can be opened up to reveal the robot head underneath. Finally, attach each weapon to the holds in his hands, and the transformation is complete.......not bad!;)^;)^;)^;)^
4. Packaging: Awesome!!! very colorful, artwork is top notch, Dinobot comes packed in beast mode. He also Comes with a metallic character card and DVD with DVD case. The DVD includes: the full-length ninth episode of Beast Wars with Japanese audio, a diorama story brought to life using Beast Wars toys featuring Dinobot versus Black Arachnia, and a character data file of Dinobot, there are twistie ties, but you get so much in this package and release, it really doesn't make it too much of a big deal......;)^;)^;)^
5. Best feature: Pressing the button on the spinning blade toys makes the blades spin like a rotor. This is a nice action feature and something the character did regularly on the show.;)^;)^;)^;)^
overall score: 22 Points! A Very excellent toy![]()
Would you recommend this toy? Yes, I would, Dinobot was one of the first break out characters in beast mode. Once a Predacon, then a Maximal, Dinobot embodied what many fans thought a good complex Transformers character should be. The toy was different in many ways from the television show's CGI model, but that didn't matter and Dinobot was and still is scooped up very quickly by fans and collectors.
Overall, this toy holds up well over time. Although there have been many toy advances over the course of the Beast Wars Transformers line, this toy is a great look at where things began with this line. It's also a fun toy, and a cool character, the paint applications, packaging and reputation of the character shine through, I definitely recommend him as a "Must Buy!"
ok, that's it for me for today, some one else needs to do a review, they take alot out of you..for sure. But I do so love the forums and the subject material.

How did you get your favorite Beast Wars Toy?I'd wanted one since I was ten years old and saw it on BWTF.com, but sadly, it wasn't available anywhere online for a decent price. When BBTS listed the reissue on sale for $15, I almost ordered it, but my mom got all pissy about me buying toys and eventually discouraged me from getting it. I finally got my chance when BBTS got all the old Japanese Beast Wars stock in and it was going for around $13 --- a complete steal!

1. Likeness to cartoon or Media: A spitting image of his cartoon counterpart. I would have prefered the more toned-down paint scheme and the frosty coloring of the underside of the tail that was on the reissue, but it's still a nice looking 'bot.;)^;)^;)^;)^
2. Posability: He's very posable. The snake hood, which is now sort of a cape, blocks some arm movement, but it's alright. The tail arm is freakin' awesome and makes for some great action poses. I wish it weren't so loose, so that I could pose him with the arm sticking straight out as if to lash at someone, but you can't get everything.;)^;)^:)^
3. Transformation: Not horribly complex, yest not easy enough for a monkey. It's certainly different --- the spinning torso thing is pretty cool, and I like how the arm gun ends up as a cobra venom squirter... thing.;)^;)^;)^
4. Packaging: It's the original packaging. For a deluxe figure, the packaging is impressive. Boxed, no twist ties, and a nice overall coloration. It's eye catching.;)^;)^;)^
5. Best feature: Either the venom squirting feature or the tail. Gotta love that tail.;)^;)^;)^;)^
overall score: 22 points
Would you recommend this toy? Totally. Not only is it the only really good looking snakeformer (out of two, really), he's got some great posability, nice play features, and a killer paint scheme. The detailing is superb. Overall a kickass figure. It's a shame that it wasn't ever released outside of Japan.
