Reading order?

Postby Shadowman » Thu Sep 25, 2008 1:32 pm

Motto: "May God have mercy on my enemies, because I sure as hell won't."
I'm starting to get into the IDW comics. I just read Infiltration, and I'm about to move on to Stormbringer.

But I like to do things in order. Is there anything I should read--Like Spotlights, side-stories, etc.--before moving on to Stormbringer?

Any help would be nice, I am not the most comic-savvy person around. Thanks in advance! :D

This is probably your best bet:
http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/IDW_continuity

Don't get so strict about it that you avoid or hold off reading an issue because you've been waiting to read or feel you should read another issue first. It's a huge continuity, but you don't have to absorb it all in exact order.
In a place such as this, you are the perfect prey for a brest animal!

I'd say read the comics in the order they were released, that way you get to ask the same questions and wonder the same things we had to when the series first came out.

I think it adds to the experience, but thats probably just me.

so: Infiltration-Stormbringer-Spotlight Trade#1-Escalation-Spotlight Trade#2-Devastation-Spotlight Trade#3-Revelation.

Happy reading!

Dreamwaves War Within fits in pretty good too

There are many transfans that wedge War Within sometime after Megatron Orign and before Infiltration. If you don't get too picky about the introduction of gestalts into the timeline it works out fairly well. (I personally fit WW into IDWverse that way.)

I'm reading Megatron Origin right now. I actually do want to read War Within, and I have for a while now. (Read as: years)

Time Out's over Chronic, you can get out of the corner now. :D

Okay Shadowman I have a better, but far from perfect chronological order to read the issues:
- Megatron Origins (not required, nor recommended)
- Shockwave
- Sixshot
- HotRod
- Soundwave (part of comic occurs earlier)
- Ultra Magnus
- Nightbeat
- Infiltration 1-6
- Stormbringer 1-4
- Kup
- Escalation 1-4
- Ramjet
- Galvatron
- Escalation 5-6
- Optimus Prime
- Blaster (part of comic happens pre infiltration)
- Arcee
- Devastation 1-6
- Grimlock
- Cyclonus
- Hardhead
- DoubleDealer
- Sideswipe
- Wheelie (part of comic happens pre Infiltration, and also in Prime)

But to be honest I think following the reading order of the comics in released TPB form will serve you better.
