Scorponok is not dead, because he was never shown to have been killed. Then again, this is another long running thing ins Transformers fandom- they go MIA, they're pronounced DOA by fans.

Like Shockwave, and half of the Season 1 and 2 cast.

The other half was shown to be killed.

One thing I havent seen anybody mention or think of as to why he may be dead. We know the blackout stayed in the desert for a little while after the soccent base because we see him still in the dessert later one (we don't really know if its qatar or nevada sand but we know its a desert) So how do we know that blackout didnt go pick scoponok back up, and he may have repaired himself whild back on board black out only for blackout to die a little later.

Or He could be alive by the same token, picked up by blackout, repaired and then dropped off again to do recon or lay low.

Point is. We dont know and probably won't know until we see concrete info for tf2 or if the specifically say it in a commentary for the movie.

I'll tell you why he's alive, because Frenzy lost his whole body and he stayed alive and Scorponok pretty much lost his weapon attachment. End of argument.

Nah, I don't think he's dead. It didn't happen on screen, there for you can't say he's dead for sure. That's a long standing rule of movies. And don't get me started with death and resurrection in TFs. It happens all the time. I bet we see both Megatron and Blackout in TF 2.

Scorpie was Blackout's bee-otch. If Blackout acted as a refueling depot for Scorpie then Scorpie would be dead. Otherwise I think that he still lurks underground somewhere. Quoting from the movie: "Watching. Waiting."

Longs for the days of G1 where we only had to worry about Megatron, Soundwave and Laserbeak wanting to be Autobots, Swoop calling himself Tracks and Slingshot calling himself Slingslot!

Then why didn't he call in when Frenzy sent out the signal?

Why would he call in? He was little more than a drone in the movie. If Blackout had picked him up there would be no need to call in. If he was hidden underground licking his wounds he would be less than worthless in battle.

The fact is you have no concrete proof to back up your supposition beyond the fact that he just wasn't there in the final battle.

Koloth is correct. Scorponok would have been useless in the final battle. He would have been completely out of his element, and he was severely injured and didn't have time to regenerate. It was far better for him to not get involved. As has also been mentioned by people here, as well as on his toy bio, Scorponok is little more than an animal. I'm not even sure if he is fully sentient. He acts more on instinct than anything else. And. what is the first instinct of an animal when it is severely injured? escape to a safe den and lick its wounds. That is what Scorponok did.

I stick by what I said elsewhere - for want of a better term, Skorpy is Blackout's ass, and therefore dies with the rest of him

The toy makes it pretty clear that he's formed from Blackout's engine housings, which would make the two a pretty symbiotic partnership. Now while we see Skorponok running around Blackout doesn't appear to do any flying. After Skorpy gets trashed I would guess that Blackout picks him up again (otherwise we wouldnt see him flying around later in the movie) but for one reason or another he remains attached for the remainder of the movie, perhaps because he is too badly damaged to work autonomously?

"Transformers were shown to have regenerative abilities. Scorponok only has his tail severed. He could've repaired himself."

That's like saying I could survive a bullet wound in the heart, as long as I form scar tissue.

So Scorponok got his tail blown off. But what about the rest of him? What's not to say his spark wasn't damaged, and he was dying, with no hope for survival?

What if other vital "Organs" were damaged? A fuel tank might've been cut. Perhaps he only had enough left to bury himself. Why? To avoid further humiliation. Or perhaps he was like Predators, and he didn't want Transformer technology in humans hands. (Since one of the Decepticons goals was finding Megatron's location, they didn't know Transformer tech had already been reverse engineered)

So please, if you have any other thoughts as to why he might still be alive, I'll gladly play a good ol' fashion game of "Point/Counterpoint" with you.

Koloth wrote:You're working entirely on supposition. The entirity of the damage he may or may not have taken was not shown. As such his status can not be logically determined. Much like Barricade we don't have a definitive answer and won't unless such information is made available in the next movie.

It could be that he is in hiding licking his wounds. Equally likely is he took a great deal of damage and did in fact die. But as I said we can't make a final determination with the information we possess.

QF F***ING T!

Scorponok needs love too, damnit!

This is just a big "what if" merry-go-round. There is no solid evidence from the moive either way. We are just going to have to wait until TF 2 arrives sometime after the ice caps finally melt...

I think he is alive. Why? Because I want to believe!!!

I think Scorponok probably did survive the attack in the desert but what if he linked back up with Blackout (possibly to aid repair and can't see why he would be left behind in a damaged state) before the final battle in the city? Couldn't he have been taken out along with Blackout (which I'm not happy with as he was so cool :P )
