Wow, I really could've used this six months ago when I was trying to Ebay most of these guys.

I am a little disappointed that they haven't attempted Ravage and Laserbeak/Buzzsaw yet (I mean in robot mode). There are the animal helmets now. They could probably whip up something simple.

I don't know about Laserbeak/Buzzsaw but they could do a great Beast Wars Ravage

we need more BW kreons period. really hoping 2017 sees a 20th anniversary beast wars boom

Pfft. Wait, that's actually kinda cool since they're all together in one place. Eh, can still get the same effect with a poster of them all.

Those Kreons look very cool and it is priced very well

I love the idea of this set though I think I would like it a bit more if it had stayed true to the theme. Either a "More Than Meets The Eye" Class of 1984 set (only with characters from the original first 3 parter) or a Season 1 Class of 1984 set that included all of the characters from Season 1, including the humans Spike, Sparkplug, Chip Chase and Dr Archevil as well as the Constructicons, Devastator, Jetfire, Shrapnel, Bombshell, Kickback and Reflector.

What are you talking about? Cast of what? The TF cartoon came out in 84 and last time I checked Arcee, Ultra Magnus, the Insecticons, and others were NOT introduced until later on. Years later for some. There were 18 original autobots and Perceptor wasn't one of them. Neither was Arcee. And theya re missing four or five of the 18. Not to mention almost half of the original decepticons, including the seekers.

Now, care to explain what in the hell you are talking about when you say "original cast"??

All of the original 1984 characters are included in this set, plus five additional post-1984 characters who are likewise beloved/iconic. They did get all of the originals in there, and topped them off with five more dudes for extra goodness.

If you really want to be pedantic, Hauler and the Reflector crew are missing. But Hauler never transformed in his sole appearance, and Reflector could be presented by a camera accessory. >:oP

And neither had a toy in 1984. The toyline dictated who belonged to which year, not the cartoon.

I was think they could build them along the lines of how they did beast modes for some other characters like the Predacons. They wouldn't be perfect but at least they would be represented.

Mindswipe in different colors would make a great Ratbat. I found that if you remove the waist/leg piece, the claws attached to the hands are in perfect placement for the bat feet. If I was a better customizer, I would've made one myself by now.

According to who? If they were in the cartoon in 1984-85 (season 1) then they belong in the class of '84.

Hauler was in an episode? Which one?

Well, not exactly as he's more like Grapple with his yellow. It's possible Grapple was originally meant for release in 1984 but was pulled. Grapple proper would debut in the Season 2 episode Dinobot Island pt. 1, followed by his spotlight episode The Master Builders. That leaves his Season 1 cameo retconed into Hauler (Grapple's originally planned name). He also "appears" in The Five Faces of Darkness pt. 4 alongside the other Constructicons, though (like Gravedigger) it was due to another retcon, but that was the basis for his toy colors.

Sunstorm, Bitstream, and Hotlink should be in the set too if we want to go by that standard.


I wonder. Would anyone want a Kreon set of just all the seekers or not?

This franchise need more Cybertronians with mullets.

Don't know if anyone else caught this, but starscream has a megatron pistol.

According to who? If they were in the cartoon in 1984-85 (season 1) then they belong in the class of '84.

The toyline came first. It mapped out and decided who would appear in the fictions for each year. It's not like they first made characters for the show and then made toys of them afterward. The cartoon just decided to do a little early advertisement for some of the following years' toys now and then to get people excited about the next year's assortments of product. The cartoon relied on the toyline to be the backbone of the brand. Without the toys, we wouldn't have had the cartoon or the comics.

Anybody catch that the Kreo packaging is like a yearbook

So the Arcee, Perceptor and Magnus toys were out in '84? And the Diaclones don't count, because they weren't technically the Transformers toys. They were just based on them. I can count Magnus, as he is the repaint of Prime (the white cab used in the Kreo set is, anyway) but the other 2?

I already covered this. This is the 1984 cast, plus five additional beloved/iconic characters, who were probably included to make the number of Kreons an even 30 for the anniversary.

im Very excited for that G1 colors dinobot set coming out, and the ark playset packaging. i wonder how sturdy it is, because id love to display my classics autobots on it

I know that. My objection is this shouldn't be called the "Class of '84" if there are characters from later represented.

So, between this set, the Rock Band, and the G1 Dinos, could SDCC 2014 be a good contender for having the best SDCC TF exclusives ever?
