I just posted the screen captures from the 2nd trailer. This is so cool that they put the new Bumblebee next to the old. It's going to be stuff like this that's brain candy for us fans that is going to totally turn me into a HUGE movie fan. Sure, it would've been great if Bumblebee had been the VW Beetle instead but we've known for far too long that that wasn't going to be the case. Time to get over it and enjoy what we are getting. I think it's great that someone somewhere someplace within the movie planning had the foresight to do this.

Peter Cullen is in it, Transformers are in it, and even though I'm not a big fan of the robotmodes... it's still very cool to see them in "real life". And to see them Transform like that. And Megan Fox is the best eye candy I've seen in years. It probably is going to be one of my most favourite movies ever... I am a sucker for this kind of movie. I'm just bummed about the missed opportunity to finally bring some real Japanese mecha designs onto the big life-action screen.
Terminators with an Autobot badge won't do it for me. I think that's an opinion a real fan is allowed to have, right?

I haven't read the script. I want them to surprise me.

Gundam would be Japanese mecha. the g1 show (which this is some what based on) was created here in the states. So the "big movie robot terminator" thing does fit. Its sucks but it fits. I hate hollywood.

I think that both the new trailers were awesome. I saved them as Quicktime files and when I play them frame by frame I can clearly see The Bee's hand flip out. I also see Ironhide's mouth open when he does that sweet barrel roll.

I used to hate the Starscream design but after seeing him in action I love it, even if he is a chicken monkey.

If you look carefully you will see the roll is to avoid another missle, which he narrowly does. He then shots off his own missle after he dodges the enemy one.

We haven't seen Blackout actually transform. He starts shifting, then the camera cuts, then he's a robot. Bumblebee's hand seemingly appears out of nowhere in a frame in addition to being completely obscured by darkness. Does this mean all the transformations are going to be 'cheats'? Probably not, and as I said it's quite possible they fully animated a transformation for that scene with Starscream and the blur was a result of the process being sped-up. There's just no way any viewer would know because the 'fluid transformation' that so many people are impressed by is just a blur.

How do those sour grapes taste? Are they bitter?

EDIT: On second thought, never mind. I don't want to be the one to incite am off-topic flame war.

Dude...

Why are the buttons on the flash site the symbols of the Sages from Ocarina of Time?

Did no one else notice this?

WTF? How is Zelda related to Transformers?!

*sigh* It's weird, but it's a combination of two of my loves. So odd. Maybe the web-designer is big zelda fan or something.

Awesome stuff, seeing Starscream swoop and transform like that is alot to take in all at once. I've really warmed up to his design lately. The spots are well done, though I'm starting to get sick of that same Scorponok bursting out of the sand scene and Bonecrusher ripping the bus in half.

Still, all the bots are looking cool except for Megatron. I'm still pissed about the flames on Prime, but looks like I'm gonna have to live with it...

C'mon, show us a bit of Brawl! We've barely seen anything of this guy, and he's soooo cool!

I saved them right from the IGN.com site. Instead of clicking on the picture for the trailer, click on the Quicktime link to the right. That brings you to another page with a link that says: Your download is ready. Right-click here to save. Right click it and choose Save target as.

It's probably just me but I'd honestly take the Camero over the Beetle as an alt mode.

I'd actually found the ign.com posts before I learned I needed to double click the hd to get Sector 7's post, downloaded all 4 trailers from there. Gotta put up with the ign logo in the bottom right, but that really doesn't hurt anything.

I'm in two minds about this. I prefer the 70s Camaro over the VW Beetle as a car, but I prefer the VW Beetle over the 2007 Camaro. O, I can't decide.

No 5-6 second transformations(of course for Prime and Bumblebee you need those to show the pure awesomeness of the Transformation the first time they do it), it's instantanous, allowing the movieformers to accomplish alot more.

Have you looked at the Starscream transformation frame-by-frame? I realize that the framerate might be condensed for the upload but it looks as if they're using motion-blur to 'cheat' during the high-speed transformations. He goes from a jet with arms to a blur to a robot. Bumblebee's hand just appears out of nowhere in one frame. They might have fully-animated the transformation but unless they release the full animation as a dvd extra or something there's really no way the viewer can tell. If they did just use the motion blur as a cheat the transformation really isn't any more fluid or complex than the old G1 cartoons, just a lot faster.

Poor quality frame-by-frame grab:

Image

Actually, you can look and see that in the first frame, Screamer's arms are popping out, second frame nose cone starts to fold, third frame nose cone folds some more and some other stuff seems to happen. Fourth frame you can't tell, and fifth frame transformation complete.

That's my point. Plane with arms, nose-cone starts to fold down ---> complete blur ---> giant robot.

iwas reading yalls analysis of the transformation and assumptions of how they will be slower in the first few times the autobots and decepticons transform.. that is a possibility. But lets consider for a moment that these robots have the capability to transform themselves at a super fast rate for high speed needs, and a slower rate for down time..I mean it makes sense then that Star Scream's transformation would be ultra fast and almost a blurr given the circumstances of him gripping that beam and flipping over it. Who is to say that A transformers transformation time has to be at a certain speed all the time. I mean they probably could vary their speed of transformation at any time. depoending on the needs of the situation.. it is probably a great way to show a level of "Robotic adreneline" in that the faster they transform the more hyped up they are.. its a suttle way to convey action and urgency.. not bad.. and the fact that its blurred, it doesn't bother me, it shows his transformation is ultra fast, and if I was to capture that on a hand held digital camera and slow it down, i would see it blurred like that as well.. only professional cameras in the movie or nature show industry could capture fast movig objects and slow it down frame by frame..I assume the point of the blurring transformation was to convey instantaneous movement and to what you would see with the naked eye, which even with the best vision a person would only see a blurr of transformation..

Excellent job utilizing the monkey alt mode of Primal. Oh, no, wait, that's Starscream isn't it?

I'll never forgive them for that putrid excuse for a robot mode.
