Sets of 3...

There is more to Transformers than movies, cartoons, comics and toys. Discuss anything else Transformers here.

Sets of 3...

Postby Saber Prime » Thu Apr 23, 2009 6:26 pm

OK we all know about the Bumblebee 3 pack but I started thinking, there are other characters that could be sold like that.

Jazz has a G1, Movie, and Animated incarnation.

Blurr has G1, Armada, and Animated.

Rattrap has his original, Transmetal, and BM form.

What other characters can you think of that have 3 IN-SHOW reincarnations? (considering Goldbug wasn't included with the whole Bumblebee thing we're leaveing out any name change versions of said characters.)

Nope, thoughs 3 have incarnations in G1, Armada, Energon, Cybertron, and Animated. Skywarp might work though I think he really was only in G1, Cybertron and Animated.

ironhide

G1, movie, and Animated. Good!

mirage

Mirage has 4 incarnations. G1 Autobot. RID Spychanger. Armada Mini-con. Energon Decepticon.

hound (but they all are a very similar jeep)

Hound is a G1 only character.

swindle

G1, Armada, and Animated.

optimus and megatron sold in million packs

Yeah, I said sets of THREE, why list them, WAY more than 3.

ah, i thought you were looking for characters with ATLEAST 3 incarnations, not Just 3. Are we talking shows only, or toyline too. bumblebee was in alot more than 3 toylines. he also had a pretender shell in one.

what about characters in the trilogy, but got redeco's in each line? i think Hot shot did that.

Rodimus maybe? g1 energon and shattered glass. rumors of an animated toy on the way.

Unless I missed some news.

Mirage has 4 incarnations. G1 Autobot. RID Spychanger. Armada Mini-con. Energon Decepticon.

Actually a good set for Mirage would be ...

G1, Machine Wars, Classics, though you want "in-show" characters.

It would still make a good "Through the ages" anniversary sort of set.

optimus and megatron sold in million packs

So you do a couple of packs, though personally that would get a little boring anyway.

It's rumored that he is and there's a toy but I haven't seen anything to confirm that he is actully in the movie.

Toy line, yes Soundwave is in RotF.

The actual movie, it's not confirmed one way or another.

I guess you could count Frenzy sence he was originally going to be Soundwave.

Yeah but I said In-Show characters and I'm not sure if Ironhide was ever seen in the RID series. It's possible he was, there's so many spy changers on the show I kinda lost track of who the non-show characters were.

Only 6 Spychangers made it to the show

They could make a lot of 3 packs but it would only make sense if it was truly an iconic character like Bumblebee. For instance, I like Rattrap a lot but to the general public he is not iconic and would probably only sell so-so.

If the character was iconic, it wouldn't matter if he had 3 molds (and/or TV show incarnations) or more than that, why are you limiting to 3?

Bumblebee has more than 3 himself as I'm sure you know (Goldbug, G2, 2 movie styles even in the first movie)

So why pick on people if they go above 3?

Silly goose.

The man said "3 IN-SHOW reincarnations leaving out name changes".

So that excludes Goldbug, G2 and the Pretender versions of the character.

But the 1967 version of the movie character is a good point.

Touche'

I, too, am a "silly goose"

But it's even sillier to think that there would have to be exactly 3 "TV show" versions of a character to make it work.

It has more to do with the popularity of a given character to the general public than anything else.

Not only that, but Hasbro I think would rather do "new style" releases such as they did with Bumblebee.

And I dont recall the man even suggesting that there would need to be " exactly 3 "TV show" versions of a character to make it work".

He simple came up with an idea and posted it and asked for others that fit his criteria.

I don't think he meant just tv shows, he's included movie appearances as well, but it looks like Soundwave would be excluded "if" he appears in RotF as that would be a fourth appearance for him.

I would think that by now you would be familiar with the way Sabe thinks.

For him to say "in show" means that it had an appearance in something other then the toyline or the comic.

So a movie, animated cartoon or cgi cartoon are all in the same family to him.

That's pretty much what I said.

As SP said, "if" (as he's not convinced it's the not a lie, which is fair enough) Soundwave is in RotF then he can't be counted as it'll be a fourth appearance for him. Thus I can only conclude that it's "exactly" three appearances, nothing more, nothing less.

Let's just wait for SP to clarify the "rules" for this properly.

Thats cool....but my only issue either way is what Delicon pointed out earlier.

Bumblebee has had 4 appearances that showed up either in movie or toon.

But the box set only contained 3.And one of those wasnt even shown on any show/movie.

I never said anything about Tow-Line.

And Skid-Z did join the Spy Changers on the show or at least it seemed that way when they introduced him. The simple design allso makes him look like a Spy Changer. He's not anywhere near as complex as the other Autobots. Even Tow Line has a more complicated transformation than him. I had to look him up and noticed he comes with Windshier who oddly enough is a non show character. (why package show and non show togeather?) and even Windshier had a more complex design.

BTW, I didn't change my name I started a whole new account because something is going screwy with the whole site change or my account has been hacked because I can't log on. It's telling me my password is wrong but I know damn well it's not. I've never had trouble logging in till the site went through it's recent change and now I can't log on at all. I'm going to report this to the Admin as soon as possible and then hopefully get my original account back.

No he didnt.

They did use him at leat twice along-side the Spychangers, particularly in the last episode[s].But he was never made a member of that team.

Actullu he really doesnt.I know you dont by many of the toys but they were both quick changers, both originally from the Machine Wars toyline.

The transformations on both were very simple.

Pull 1 peace and the rest transformed itself.

Rial Vestro wrote: I had to look him up and noticed he comes with Windshier who oddly enough is a non show character. (why package show and non show togeather?) and even Windshier had a more complex design.

Again because it was part of the same line of figures, they were all quick changers.Even Tow-line came with Skyfire.
