So, in the year 2007... what is the GREATEST TRANSFORMER EVER?

Postby Dispensor » Fri Aug 03, 2007 11:06 am

This may have been asked before, but quite frankly, I don't give a damn. What matters is that I'm asking it. So, loyal fans with jobs therefor allowing them to make money and buy the awesome toys, what is the best Transformer ever? Why is it the best? And furthermore, can I have it?

Sorry, couldn't wait.

Back to the topic, are you sure? Is this your final answer? I've heard there are a whole lot of flaws with MP Megs.

Cool. Oddly enough, the only thing besides my lack of sufficient funds that keeps me from getting Megs is the oversized gun mode.

aside from masterpieces & alternators? deluxe 08 bumblebee. why? it's an amazing engineering feat, that's why. the fact that they were able to cram in oodles of automorph goodness without massively restricting articulation & playability...genius. oh, and the fact that he is the #1 scalped toy these days. 8)
all the comments above are the HUMBLE OPINIONS of the said user only. 'nuff sed.

Toy of 2007 is either MP Megatron or Leader Prime. Or maybe even '08 Bumblebee (this one in terms of popularity).

Well I still can't find Concept Camero BB so for now I'd have to say it's a tie between Barricade and Robovision Optimus Prime. I chose Barricade because I love his alt. mode, loved his character in the film, he's one of the most movie accurate figures, and he's just an all around badass. The spring loaded arm feature is annoying but not a big detractor for me. I chose Robovision Prime because it's the first Prime figure I've bought since RiD, I don't like Leader Class figures, they're too big and always look cheap somehow (just my opinion, don't freak out). I like his color scheme, his proportions are nice and sleek, his dual shotguns rule, he's just the right size, his sculpt is great, and it's Prime!

Wait...I'm not understanding this... the way I understand the topic it's - what is the greatest TF ever, up t and including this year...

and people are saying it's 08 Concept Bumblebee?

I think that's on account of the novelty of the toy and the fact that it's well designed... but best ever? ... nah...

MP Megatron wins hands down using the following categories:

1) Size
2) Complex Transformation
3) Cartoon/Comic accurate
4) Great Character
5) Iconic TF
6) Realistic Alt Mode
7) Exclussive Accessories
8) Very Nice Packaging
9) Difficulty of Creating the Toy

Now - there are TFs which score high in one or even a couple of the above categories, but only MP Megs fairs best in ALL of them.

I don't say this because he's my favorite TF - he's not - but I must admit that if we're trying to be fair - we have to give it to him.

i say 08 BB. for 10$ seriously one of the best figures, aside from its paint. even though its just a deluxe figure, it has so much detail, articulation, and a great robo/alt mode that it competes to that of the alternators. it may not be the BEST figure of 2007, but its pretty damn good. its so good that i believe its up there along with mp megs, may not be the BEST, but it competes with the rest for that title.

Best T-Former of the Year?

Well i know Titanium Prowl is coming out this year, so when it does, it's going to be him. But for now..

1. Botcon Dreadwind.

I don't have it but any repaint of Classics Jetfire is the bomb

2. Movie Leader Class Optimus Prime

C'mon? C'mon? It's Optimus Prime? Way better than Leader Megs and has those classy new red and blue flames colour scheme!

3. Movie Voyager Blackout

People say it sucks, but c'mon out of all the previous helicopter Transformers this one is the best and without doubt it has set the bar for the future

4. Movie Deluxe Final Battle Jazz

I'm no Jazz fan, but with the Final Battle one having better weapons, i'm looking forward to this one.

5. Movie Deluze '08 Bumblebee

I dont know what all the fuss is about this one. But the car design is sick, and the Robot Mode looks absolutely awesome.

And the funny thing is that I only own 1 of those, but i'm getting on it.

Damn, I really need to get around to getting myself Megatron. I'm just lagging so far behind with the MPs. I only picked up 20th Prime the other week and that was largely to cheer me up after sitting through the movie.

I really don't see how anyone could pick any of the movie toys as best of the year, let alone best ever. Put any movie toy next to Titanium Rodimus or Botcon Alpha Trion and there's just no comparison. I'm not someone who's ranted and moaned about the movie designs and was perfectly willing to give the movie a chance but it's not done enough to get me interested in these ugly and according to many reports deeply flawed toys. In all fairness if I were to give them a chance I might like them somewhat better once I had them in hand and had a fiddle with them but they would still look attrocious. My only experience of automorphs so far has been on a couple of the Real Gears that I picked up for kitbash fodder and the technology has failed to impress me there, I doubt that I would like it any better on the main movie line.

Rant over, may as well actually answer the topic. Of stuff that I don't have yet I would go with MP Megatron, for pretty much all of the possitive reasons stated by others above. Of stuff that I do have, and it's not one of this year's, Galaxy Force Starscream. Looks great, inspired by Don's War Within design, pyramid jet alt mode which is something that I've wanted in a Seeker toy since I don't know how long ago and the thing that really amazed me when I first got him: The force chip gimmick works THROUGH the ratchet joints in his shoulders and doesn't limit posability at all. White I'm not the biggest fan of that particular gimmick, especially given that it was used across the whole line, that is a really nice piece of TF engineering. Plus he's the perfect size for a Seeker toy, much as I love my Classic Seekers how much cooler would they have been as voyagers?

Couple of Alts, tail end of Titanium, Robot Heroes if you don't count those as a movie line, some statues and busts, Music Label, Sports Label, Encore and I'm not sure about Classics, did the last waves of that hit in the US end of last year or start of this? We didn't see any of that line in the UK until this year of course. Think that's about it.

edit - And the 07 Timelines pieces of course. D'oh!
