Sometimes teamates just don't perform (WfC)
I am gonna say it every so often you get a team of people who suck. No amount of BA is gonna save you in that situation. I was playing conquest top scorer overall all but still lost 400-220. The reverse is also true, all the BA gets put on one team and a schalaking happens.

I've only been playing team deathmatch, and this may be just me because I've really never played multiplayer before, but it seems really lopsided when you're on one team with everyone under level 10, and the other team has two 25's, two 15's, etc. That's my only real problem so far with it.

With team death match I can usally console myself by saying "at least I got x number of kills and topped x number of players". I have played alot of team death match, it helps when crossing over to other modes.

Yeah most people that play video games online are terrible. It's a rule of thumb.
It's why if you play with your friends 90% of the time you're going to win easily. In any game.

As one of the worst players online (I think I'm ranked somewhere around 2,465 on the leaderboard at the moment), I can attest that a primary motivation for playing computer games is because they are something at which I am not good.
I just like driving around like a maniac, transforming into a giant killer robot, and shooting at things until somebody takes me down.
I subscribe to the Runamuck and Runabout approach to this game.

Not to be be misunderstood, I like players that are learning and trying. Balance is the key though. If 3 of 4 teammates can not score more than 15 points in a match (conquest) or pull out 3+ kills it gets overwhelming.

I fall into the sucky but learning category. I used to play TDM, but I really didn't help my team with my 14 deaths
I moved to Power Struggle, because it's quick and you don't have t look for fights.
It started pretty good, but after this past weekend with the double xp, all hell broke loose. I have not had a single good experience over the past weekend. I can't stay alive for 2 seconds no matter what class or config I play as. I'm getting pummeled down without any help or cover from my team. Some matches people didn't even try for the node and just went killing each other. Some even had my team not even able to capture over 70 points.
I play scout and scientist. I prefer scientist, and seem to last longer by being more of a sniper/gunman from a distance. But no one wants that, they say my job is to heal. You can't make a difference like that though when you don't play as a team. I can't survive or capture points by myself. If I rush in, I die because my aim isn't great and I'm kinda slow (but I'm trying!) So I'm kinda stuck like that.
At least before that matches were somewhat even, but after this weekend I've spent most of my time in Escl. I try to learn, I know I'm not great, but I just can't figure out how to swing things in my favor atm. Cause all I can do atm is look out for myself first and team second at this rate.
Sorry for the long rant, I've just been struggling with this all weekend. I wish someone would release more tutorials or something cause I think I may be missing something about my role

Re: Sometimes teamates just don't perform (WfC)
I found my role by my play style. I like to rush head first into the fray and cause close range havok. The leader class has hooked me up with good weapons decent HP and buffs to accomplish. I hardly find a scientist being told to just heal, I normally use them to rush in quick and find a loner or two and pick em off using drain and shockwave (Ability, not char). Conquest I find more people capturing the nodes (PS3 players may differ from XBL), and teams who don't capture nodes fall into the "get obliterated" catagory.

You never play games online, do you? Because what you said is not the least bit true. The chances of being in an online match where you significantly outclass every other player is mind-bogglingly high.

Expect alot of nooby moves in Conquest. That's the mode that's the easiest to level up on. However it requires alot of teamwork, you can`t be super solo Robot. I'll probably try Leader Class on it sometime, but I still am terrible at that class. However, My Scout 10, Scientist 6 and Soldier 9 fit my playstyles, although I tend to use Scientist/Soldier in Conquest, Scout in TDM.

I do. And why is it high? It isn't that high.
In WFC I go about 25-5 on good rounds. I'll go 20-20 on bad rounds. To note, I am not good. I'm middle of the run when it comes to online games and that's fine by me.
I've played a lot of mp games over the past few years. Again, I am not that good, but I recognize that a lot of people are really bad. Which is why, oftentimes, people that play (who are reasonably intelligent) are somewhat frustrated by their teammates.. because they, too, recognize that a significant number of them don't have much of a clue of what they're doing.
That's why I agreed it's frustrating that a number of people who play online, aren't all that good. If they could go 1:1 and kill 14 times and die 14 times, while capturing and defending objectives, cool. Most the time though they don't.

I hate it when my partner doesn't perform too. Like when she just lays there and doesn't move or make a noise. It just makes the effort pointless.

I'm new to multiplayer i'm learning alot.
I found out its easier for me get a higher killratio with the soldier class than with any other. with the Soldierclass i managed to get topscore in teamdeathmatch eanering myself the More than meets the Eye trophy.
With the scout and scientist class i got alot of asistkills and i suck with the leaderclass.

Re: Sometimes teamates just don't perform (WfC)
Hah! I'm the worse online player in terms of points at the end of matches. Consistently get 12-14 points and last place on team in Conquest and TDM. I have committed exclusively to the Scientist class rather than my scout. I'm up to Level 13 and 1200 points away from Level 14.
Typically I am all about helping my team with health or assisting on kills. Not much skill for me in 1v1 but I've been experimenting with some different setups on my Scientist. I have 3 of them. 1 is pure Healer type 1 is full offense, and 1 is combination of the two.
Been trying out some strategies like Health grenade on Node with teamates, Lay down a Repair Sentry and at the same time use my energon healing gun. So full on health regen for everyone on the node as much as possible. And what the hell is up with that Repair Sentry, it never heals you half the time and will also try to heal other sentry turrets ( Which I was wondering might be a good combo with another scientist, Rocket or Gun sentry with health grenade and Repair Sentry healing the Rocket turret.)
As far as stupid teammates, I may suck skill wise but I am a damn good support teammate. I hate being on teams that have everyone doing their own thing. You can tell this when you see tags all over the map instead of congregating in one area.

I don't know about PC, so. When it comes to console though, 90% - indeed - are terrible at the game and easy to beat. If the PC community is on the whole competitive, fantastic, I'm glad.
Console is filled with terrible players however.

I don't know about PC either since I have WfC on PS3. I've seen somewhere around 5000 people online at once, and you're telling me that almost all of them are incapable of learning to play the game? Either you're just really really good and everyone else seems bad by comparison, like Shadowblade suggested, or you haven't actually played the game online.

I don't think I'm very good at online gaming, especially when a team is involved. I think it has to do with finding my role in a team, and knowing what I should do. I always feel a bit lost when everyone else is jumping into the fray and I'm just getting shot at.

I usually get lumped into a team on Conquest that absolutely refuses to work together. It's frustrating when all of my team scatter and try to Doom Guy the **** level while we all get slaughtered by the other team who either stick together at all times or break off in teams of 2-3 and use teamwork and co-ordination.

It's best to assume every link I post is NSFW, and every post I make is just me taking the piss.

In every multiplayer team based game I've played I either get a team that works together or a team that every member goes lone wolf on me. I've won with both situations, but in my experience the team that sticks and works together is going to win.
Alot of times when I play Left 4 Dead or L4D2, I get idiots who don't realize that teamwork is part of the game (it even says "Stay together to stay alive") and they run ahead on their own and die.
WFC is a similar concept for the Team modes. I do my best to stick with someone even if they are not sticking with me. Although the scout is hard to use for teamwork. I know Marking helps take down a tough foe, and I guess you can snipe scientists/other scouts to help out your team.
I get the occasional moron on my team. One guy who kept driving off the Orbital Debris map and another guy who was a leader and kept following me and meleeing me when I was cloaked as a scout. When the whole other team found us I didn't bother helping him...mainly cause they saw me easily and killed me.
Makes me wish for a kick option at times.

Re: Sometimes teamates just don't perform (WfC)
Yeah, I think every one got their own strategy, I don't blame them. I love the power struggle game but some times really pissed when most of my teammates aren't trying to capture the node. On the opposite way, there happened few times to me when both teams have around 5 to 6 players and my team had gathered around in a node waiting for the other team's attack and no body comes. Then moved to another node and same thing happened. Only one or two occasionally showed up and get killed in 2 seconds. We then won the game easily with the top scorer with only 4 kills.
Some times when I feel struggle with my teammates, I just move to death match to try to kill everyone I see.

Maybe it's just me but lately the players around me primarily are all experts. Most are level 25 in at least 1 class and I am getting dominated as a Scientist level 15. I played as much as I could during the Double XP weekend and only managed a couple of levels up. So yeah I am pretty lousy but I keep trying. Just tough to keep up online when your the punching bag for the other team almost every game.
I'm going to keep adjusting strategies. That's the most fun part for me yet, thinking of new ways to combine my abilities and talents and employ them online to see how well it works.

True, not just you.

Many times I was wondering how could these people have so much time on this. Well, kids are now free in summer time unlike me can only play after work after kids go to bed.
