What's a Civil Remedial Fee?

Basically, it's where Virginians who get tickets in Virginia have to pay tons more, over the course of years, because the government wants to raise money for No on knows what. So, like, if a ticket in say Maryland would be $150, it would, over time, in Virginia be like $500-1000, depending. It's ridiculous and HATED.

Nah, traffic violations (including DUI's) and accidents only hang on your driving record for 5-7 years. That's as long as the DMV holds it for in their system.

Sherade wrote:I have distaste for a small part of insurance too. It's awesome that I can be covered for other's mistakes, and sometimes get bonuses for not doing it on my own, which I think the payments are worth, but some companies will cover you even if it's your fault, and I think that's kinda lame. If I make a mistake, I should be cleaning it up.

I'm sure I am misunderstanding you, but you think it is lame that an insurance company will cover your car if you have an at-fault accident? If you are paying for full coverage, why wouldn't you want it to cover your car? Not only that, but unless you have paid it off, it isn't your car, its the bank's. They are the one's that want you to have full coverage, so you can protect their car.

But yeah, you speed, you break the law. That isn't what I would be worried about. I would worry about what kind of company would hold that against you for employment. That's a little too strict for my tastes.

Well, you partially misunderstood me. Yes ,I want my car covered. But ibeleive If i'm the one who has made the fault, I should be penalized somehow, or rewarded if I don't make the fault. Paying in full seems the only way to make it stick. Maybe a fine, I dunno. But if I've learned anything, it's that punishment is best for education.

Is it neccasarily te banks if it's a used car form a private owner, say an 800 dollar 1987 Mustang GT?

Sherade: Generally you pay for getting into "at-fault" accidents by having your insurance rates go up with each one you get into.

Here in MA, at least, we have a "Step program". Everyone starts out at a certain step, and you go down steps for every year you drive clean/safely and up steps for every accident you're at fault for (as well as traffic violations and some other things). How much you pay for your insurance depends on how high your step is.

Dunno how other states/companies do it, but I'd imagine it's something similar: the better you drive, the less you pay.

I forgot for a minute about rates.
Anyhoo, most companies around here offer it, but the only one that really keeps it clean is Allstate. Eveyone else fights it out over who is best.

Of course..I doubt it'll happen..oh well, dreaming is fun.

The Legal system? No, you'd still be in there. There's a lot of paperwork, and if you caused damage during a chase, they'd practically mutilate you.

You'd still have to drive safe in a pursuit unit. Remember, just because you have those sirens on, doesn't mean people would be capable of pulling over all the time.

I meant as in the crap end with jail and that mix. I know that if I do damage, well thats given. But I'm sure it depends on the circumstance. If I P.I.T a guy into a pole or something, I might have a good reason, if there was a chance of even more damage elsewhere. But yeah, it really wouldn't help for no reason.

Yeah, I was gonna mention the sirens, but thought over how some won't exactly make the best move. Not to their fault, maybe, but sometimes the pressure of trying to avoid being a block makes it worse.

I just replied within the quote.

Like Jeysie said, you do get penalized. You not only get surcharged for 3 years for an at-fault accident or violation, but the points you get from the incident also raise your rates. Also, depending on which state you live in and which company you are insured with, you also get cash back for being a good driver.

And no, you pay a car off in full, its no one's but yours.

It's kinda like that hear in Ohio. When I got hit a few years back, my rates didn't go up because I was
1: Not at fault.
2: The girl that hit me was underage AND drunk off her ass.
3: I almost died.

I'm not sure, but you sounds as though I have the car (I assume.)
And that'd be a lie.
I wanted to know if I were to buy it (and 800 bucks isn't hard to pay off) would it be the bank's if a private owner sells it?
I know about cars, not the sales system. :P

A car only belongs to a bank so long as the car's driver is still paying off the bank's loan. Once the loan is paid off completely the car is then the driver's property, and they are free to drive it, sell it, make modern art out of it, whatever, without the bank needing to be involved.
