wtf i saw on wikipedia that spike was a tf, is this true, was there a toy? how?

At one point in the cartoon Spike had his consciousness transferred to a scrap robot, while his body healed after an attack. The scrap robot was built by Spark Plug, it was called Autobot X. The robot had parts from other robots most notably Prowl's door. It was supposed to be used to store an autobots mind while the body underwent repairs.

It did not have an Alt mode since it was just junk, and never transformed. I don't think there ever was an Autobot Spike toy made by Hasbro or Takara.

well... Spike became a headmaster though, in The Rebirth. so i guess he could be classified as a TF (head transforming thingie, perhaps?)

He was the head of Cerebros who was the head of Fortress Maximus in Season 4.

Spike is the head to Cerebros, who is the head to Fort Max.

You also forgot about ex-skeleton spike from the movie were he could transform sort of. But when I think of transformer spike I think of his turn as the operator of fortress maximus and the head of cerebros.

Yeah but that was just the exo-suit. Not really him. And of course there wasn't a toy of the exo-suit either. AFAIK.

I guess I'm just old school, but when I hear "Spike" I think of the G1 human not the head for Cerebros.

The fact that Headmasters is nowhere near as mainstream as Seasons 1-2 helps a tad too...
