Starscream's " I live only to serve you Megatron.." and stuffs about him..

Postby scarstream » Tue Jul 10, 2007 8:28 am

I liked Starscream in the movie, and honestly looked forward to his appearence the moment I stepped foot inside the cinema hall. Still, something really bugs me..

"I live only to serve you, Megatron.."??

Bay or Don Murphy said that in the movie Starscream will still be as treacherous as ever, and will constantly arguing with Megatron. I expected this during the scene at the Hoover Dam. But it's the exact opposite, when he said those words..

Does that mean he is very loyal to Megatron? I mean, I was even hoping that there's a scene were Starscream was shown standing on top of a building watching Megatron's dead body, before giving a short laugh, and transformed.

But no..
I was still happy though that he's still alive(..I was hoping he wouldn't die, especially in the hands of the humans..)

These are the following scenes where Starscream appeared:-

1) At the military base, in alternate form with a holo pilot.

2) Shown flying towards the Hoover Dam, going under a bridge before transforming and landed on his feet. Later attacked the dam itself.

3) Shown following the escaped Megatron, then transforming into robot mode. Greets Megatron, being asked about the Allspark.

4) Shown in alternate F22 form firing missiles towards the soldiers in the city.

5) Intercepting Sam, transforming into robot mode, and later being attacked by Ironhide and Ratchet.

6) Tranforming back into F22 and flies to the air.

7) Shown transforming on top of a building, observing Sam and the Blackhawks, before firing a missile towards one of it.

8 ) Still on top of the same building, watching over Megatron and Sam.

9) Shown transforming to alt mode behind a group of F22 Raptors, before destroying 2 with his missiles, and another one with his bare hands. He was later pursued by the remaining Raptors.

10) Shown being the only Decepticon to leave the earth's atmosphere.

Now, did I miss anything here? Could we in Malaysia were cut of some scenes?

Anyway, Starscream personality could possibly based on the Energon series, since he was a Raptor as well. If so, he would the one to bring Megatron back to life, in the sequel don't you agree?

I dont think we can say that the writers didnt portray starscream as less then treacherous. Just because he made a statement to megatron about "living only to serve you" doesnt mean he is not the same old cunning bot he always was. Wouldnt he want megs to believe he was loyal to him if ultimately he wants to overthrow him? I could definitly see screamer saying this line to megs with a healthy dose on ingenuine inflection...

Motto: "All hail Lord Starscream"
Weapon: Null-Ray Rifle
Starscream saying "I live only to serve you" would not be a sign of loyalty with him. If I were Megatron, I would be very worried.

Starscream would only seem to be loyal to bide his time until the right moment opened up to make his move.

So in a nut shell... Starscream was simply aft kissing and telling megatron what he wants to hear.

yhe that line was said with a perfect screamer tone, it was like saying, yeh ill follow you, but in the back of it you could hear, f**k you you large peice of tin foil, the moment your on the ground im to take the final blow, i think that one line said it all for me, subserviant yet so decietfull.

there is also a roumer that screamer was one of the raptors that unloaded some missles on to megs, but thats just speculation, gotta admit though, makes sense and would be cool, intentional or not

Well, if you believe what's been brought up in another topic (I do), then it would appear that when Megatron was shot by the F-22s, Starscream was one of those F-22s. I whatched agien last night, and one of those misiles did look suspiciously blue.

when i saw the movie i got the impression that starscream said that line in a rather sarcastic fashion, much like the way he would call megatron "mighty megatron" in the original series (especially in the 1st movie) and of course makin sure he was the last con standing definatley played into his original character... though could anyone tell me what happened to barricade? I know he got trashed by bumblebee but when the decepticons were doin the whole roll call into action bit, barricade seemed to be alright racing into action, though we never see him in the big fight (at least i dont think we did)
Im secretly plannin to take over the world... care for a country?

He was busy destroying a donut shop. Alt mode got the best of him.

No proof of Starscream shooting Megatron ever.

Starscream was stuffed around (as were all the Decepticons) by the script, and cutting, a single 2 minute scene midway through the film could have done their character development a world of good.

As an end result, it appears as though Starscream is just another Decepticon who follows Megatron, and was used in the film as Cannon Fodder.

Hopefully his character will be fleshed out to a decent extent in number 2.
Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

Lets pray for an extended edition with an extra scene where Starscream standing over megatron says the famous line from G-1 Movie, Starscream flies in fast and transforms long enough for this scene to take place:

"Megatron: Wait! I still function! gasping with a huge hole in his chest from where Spike shot the Allspark.
Starscream: Wanna bet?
[Starscream fires a point blank shot into megatron's head]
Megatron: Starrrrrrrcreammmmmmmmm!... argh!... as his voice fades"

Or

"he says how do you feel "Mighty Megatron?" and takes off quickly for the skies.."

That would clench it as the ultimate backstabber and also set up the turmoil for a sequel.

Face it, folks - The movie was written around the action scenes with character development left as an afterthought for secondary media.

i believe we can safely assume Starscream will get some more character development. Although, in the prequel novel ghosts of yesterday, it proves that starscream is indeed treacherous, he does want megatron's spot as leader but he knows if megatron is found he will lose that spot. in the movie when megatron awakens we see starscream lose command but not fight to regain it. I believe he is too afraid to attempt to take command when megatron is around.

as for character development, i would have loved two minutes extra per character too. I guess we'll have to wait for number 2 for that one
