Paintbrush or dip?
Paint brush. 2 coats. approximately 24 hours between coats.
Thanks!
Did it leave any brush strokes? Do you have pix?
Rodimus Prime wrote:This is why I think so highly of this figure. To be able to pack in so much robot into a smaller vehicle, it takes some great engineering. MP Rod might seem simple, especially when compared to MP-09, but I think it took a lot more effort to not have so many parts than it did to have them. I hope that makes sense.
RodimusConvoy13 wrote:it's so thin it doesn't leave any brush strokes. And I used a really poopy paint brush. It was from a pack of like 30 paint brushes for 2.99. It's the same brushes you used with water colors when you were a kid. I can't even tell I did anything. I made sure to use a paper towel to soak up any excess between the open areas of the wrist blasters. It's pretty much like painting with something just slightly thicker than water. But it will protect the chrome. Sorry, don't have any pictures.

Thanks, RC13!
I bought a bottle of Future from the internet. Hot Rod's pipes already have 2 coats and I just applied the first one to his engine block. Hope it works.
Do you have to repeat this action after a while -- does the Future coat wear off eventually?
And will dipping the parts work, too? (I'm thinking about Ironhide's chromed gun and deck gun.) Or would that be a waste of liquid if you can just paintbrush it?
I had put MP-28 in the drawer till I got my hands on the bottle. Fiddling with him now reminded me how fun the figure is to transform.

No chrome wear or issues. Transformed twice to check for flaws then left on display.
Message me if interested.

It's great. I'm just done with the MP line. Trying to clear it out and get more of the stuff I want.

I sense a story here......

Yeah I am curious too. If you dont want to discuss it, or dont have the time, its fine. But I have always cared for your opinion on toys (as others probably do too, with you being a prominant voice in the community) and this sounds really interesting since it goes a bit against the general notion that fans preffer MPs above all other toys (which I personally dont abide to). So if you have some time to discuss what you do like and why the MP line doesnt interest you as much as it once did, then go for it

Well I am Australian. It's kinda what we're known for.

Well, I don't really have a great story or anything to go with this, just some thoughts and a dose of introspective honesty...
First thing is, I have limited space and a wide set of interests. My primary focus of my collection is Classics/Generations…you know, the whole Neo-G1 idea.
Well, what that means exactly has changed over the years. It’s evolved really. Hasbro’s choices, 3P options, and character updates have made this a really fun hobby. Ultimately, my goal is to put together a modern, updated, and whole cast of G1 stuff. This includes all its offshoots down to the smallest character.
For a time, I tried to have my classics be perfect updates of G1. As G1 as possible was the goal. Then two things happened. One, sometimes G1 kinda sucked and the modern take on things happens to be better. Two, IDW literally changed the game with some characters and their total makeup.
So, I allowed my collection to diversify. My seekers are F-22s and not F-15s. My Bumblebee is the modern hatchback and not a VW bug. My Ironhide and Ratchet are straight IDW –ion era style. I like this. I like the growth of the characters while keeping the homage strong.
On the other hand, the Masterpiece line moves constantly towards the boxy G1 cartoon look. The releases are fast, furious, and expensive. To really play in this line, you have to keep up with a monstrous amount of 3P figures who might be surpassed by official figures any month (and usually are). While the engineering is awesome, the designs are old and frankly, I transform the toys and then put them in a glass case, never to be handled.
So, I said to myself, there’s about $1,500 worth of MP stuff here. You won’t miss it. You’ll have some spending freedom for the rest of the year. You won’t have to budget for future MP figures. It’s one less thing to worry about in the hobby.
The funny thing about it, is that this all got decided one weekend where I got MP Ratchet and TAV Bumblebee at the same time. I enjoyed Bumblebee a lot more and the realization was something that I had to own up to.
Price, collector orientation, staying involved with what other people viewed as “the best” was something I had no interest in. I’d rather spend money on the super nice versions of retain figures and enjoy them than put them in a case to admire from a distance.

While I still hate his backpack, I have really grown to love this figure over the months I've had him. The articulation is amazing, and really, the engineering is second to non.
It may be a little late, but Hot Rod had my full love and approval.

Yay!
I got to say that I like transforming him, especially the part where everything folds on his back. Somehow, the transformation is more fun when you're not worrying about the chrome.
One thing though, did anyone manage to transform Hot Rod with enough ground clearance to roll smoothly?

This MP-28 looks beautiful as but I'm more interested in having Rodimus Prime for my Rodimus figure (if that makes sense). The DX9 Carry is a gorgeous figure but I'd rather stick to official releases if possible. Any thoughts?
