I'd love to see where this particular story between Optimus Prime and Black Arachina goes. Really good writing on this show. ;)^

I think that Black Arachnia will patch things up with Optimus before the series ends. She'll probably get betrayed by the Decepticons at some point in the future.

I Don't know if anyone else noticed it but...

During the Flashback when Prime goes looking for Elita, there is a ground-level shot of Optimus walking up to the Energon Cubes and on the ground is the head of Beast Wars Blackarachnia. It shows her head right after Optimus says "...Sentinal was right"

I just watched this on youtube.

Good and interesting but i think Black Arachnia is stupid.

All that blame and crap.

she said'i tried to use my power but i infected myself with their venom'

No she tried using a power that didnt work the first time and let her guard down and got bitten.

why didnt she transform and run away? Theyre spiders not superfast lazor cannons.Dodge out of the way.

She even blames herself for the spiders biting her!Thats just the beginning of the neurosis.
Shes a prize idiot.
On the very cool spiders, they seem very big and impressive. maybe they have been effected by all that energon in the ship?

i prefer the namesake in BW. Now she is cool.

And please can some people just stop comparing this to G1 series. Its not G1 its Animated.
Transformers series are not meant to be some endlessly repeated rehash of old ideas you know. Each is suppossed to be new and unique.

It's hard not to compair new and old when your disapointed with the new.

At least no-one's still saying that Animated is a continuation of G1.

I have to agree, while you are watching the episode, you kinda "know" what is about to happen, but it's still a damn good episode, and having Elita's power be one of mimicry is pretty good, although the swiftness in which the mimicry disappears is rather silly!

A bloody strong episode for Prime, a good view into how Sentinel operates (no real surprises there), and although it was lacking the best 2 Autobots (Prowl and Ratchet), and heavily featured Bumblebee and Sarri, it was still a good episode, worthy of multiple viewings.

This Black Arachnia is certainly not of the same mould as Beast Wars, she (rightly so) seems a lot more confused, scared, and less self assured.

I just thought of something, what if the helmet she wears isn't part of her body. She could have picked up the helmet in the cargohold of the Decepticon ship.

My reason behind this, the helmet seems to hide her facial features. Similarly, you can't see her face in the spider transformation scene.

My personal theory is that her face got deformed during the mutation and now she's trying to hide it.

I think so too, since the helmet can be seen lying on the ground next to the energon cubes as Prime enters the ship!
And she said she was ugly.

Yeah, that's smart. I would have to agree, though she does look quite fine with the helmet on. One thing I was pondering on is the character's toys. I like the Blackarachnia mode better than Elita, but they're bound to make an Elita toy. Now the question is whether Blackarachnia retakes her Elita One form at the end of the series. I think at the very end she'll finally trust Optimus, I'm almost sure of it. So it's just going to be hard to decide what toy to get, if not both.

Very cool episode. Few thoughts

I agree, the helmet we see on the floor, is definitely the same one she is wearing as BA. So its likely her face got disfigured somehow during the mutation.

Everybody says Elita-1 is Optimus's girlfriend, but it appears as if she's more attached to Sentinel than Prime in the flash back scenes. As is Sentinel to her.

I think she's Sentinel's girl.

As for Predictability, yeah it was rather predictable to have her transform into Black Arachnia, although I would have liked a better transformation scene for her. The bulging up, just did not cut it in my opinion. At least a shadow where you can see the additional arms growing out or something. Although the tiny Beast Wars tidbit there, of the scanners not picking up semi organic lifeforms was pretty cool.

Why wasn't Prowl there? Prowl would have been really handy in catching Arachnia.

And that entire conversation where she says she tried to use her power but got infected instead just doesn't make sense, Yes she tried to use her power, but she wasn't infected, she was stung by the spiders. A totally unrelated event to her using her powers.

Had they wanted that to work, she would have needed to show some effect when she used her powers the first time on the first spider we see.

And her powers I agree last a ridiculously short time.

Anyway I liked the episode overall, just a few details here and there but it was good. I'm just biting my nails waiting for an episode with Blitzwing.

Ohh and as for a toy of Sentinel its fair to say that if we are getting an Ultra Magnus they'll probably make a Sentinel also. We just haven't seen one yet.

Perhaps she got 'infected' because she was trying to use her download power when they bit her.

I agree it's one of the best episodes yet, but I'm confused as to why Prowl and Ratchet seem not to exist...

So then this Elita One was never Ariel before she was Elita One before she became Blackarachnia? Cause the only Elita One that ever existed used to be Ariel , Orion Pax's Girlfriend.
Ive been just assuming that there is a connection with the G1 storyline since Ratchet claims to have been and they showed actual G1 footage in the TF Animated Movie premier.
But I guess it dosent makes sense anyway since Ratchet died in the '86 movie So it doesent even make sense for Ratchet to be claiming that he was there cuz he's suppose to be dead.
So No i guess Not. This is all new Material for a new Generation.

It startles me that people are STILL only just catching onto this...

It's a different continuity!

Just because there's a great war doesn't mean it's THE great war. Hell there's a great war in the Unicron trilogy, just known by a different name, and that's not the same war.
Ratchet is a war veteran, from the war that had previously engulfed cybertron, where there was no (G1) Optimus Prime, no (G1) Sentinal Prime, no (G1) Ultra Magnus, no (G1) Prowl, no (G1) Bumblebee. These are all new characters, growing up in a world after this universes great war.
Megatron and Ratchet are the only ones confirmed to have been in the wars shown in the first episode, the footage taken from G1 but not meant to BE G1...
Also, if it was G1 wouldn't they know about humans XD

That's not an attack at you Nitestar, just a general summariesation for those of you who haven't been thinking about it as much as I have XD

Guess someone at Hasbro/Cartoon Network decided they only want to sell Animated toys and DVDs to people in the US who think there's actually enough non-dreck on TV for cable to be worth the money.

Fortunately some other TF fans have picked up the slack if you search around, though I feel lousy for the guy getting his account whacked. :(

I'd recommend downloading the YouTube vids as you go and watching them with VLC or some other FLV player.

Well part of me says he deserves it the other part is just pissed off.

I want to watch that show and I think he would still be around if he would have SOLD private DVDs via a link in his profile!

Yes he sold pirate DVDs of ARmada, energon and Animated.

Just hope someone else continues to post the episodes. Its the only way I get to see them since I don't live in the US. And who knows when CN down here will start showing them and then in what time slot.

He should have done his pirate dvds more subtley.

But the not selling dvds to any outside of America is pathetic, and clearly something they wanted to do before but couldnt find an excuse. So they can bring them out elsewhere later and less included and try to make people pay more.

Theyd probably stop people buying the less price dvds from Canada if they could.Or try to stop them being made.Certain companies must really hate region zero dvds.

Great episode.

For some reason I was thinking that maybe Blackarachnia would appear in the flash back and do way with Elita in some way. It was a Decepticon ship after all. Making Elita 1 Blackarachnia was a nice twist. Also does anyone else think the part with her doing the ol grab and twist on Optimus' spray nozzle and say that he'd love to give her a face full of foam, before slamming him into a building was the least bit suggestive  ?

Oh and I forgot.....Buster Witwicky was mention in the Dreamwave comics and was said to have joined the army at the begining of the first mini.

Late in the ongoing we see a high ranking army officer with the name "Witwicky" on his tag.

My guess that was Buster. But theres no way of knowing 100%.

Yeah that was meant to be Buster Witwicky according to some of the interviews and articles I've been reading online. It was supposed to be reviled in issue 13 of G1 when Cyclonus found Scourge on Earth in the hands of the EDC. That was DreamWave's first attempt at Comic/Cartoon character interaction as well because he was having a conversation with Marissa Fairborne(SP?), but now we'll never see the end of Dreamwave G1 because of the problems....
