You jest....right?

If you're a pro, you buy it four or more times:
Image

Skywarp2, most of your 'reviews' have been pretty balanced. Your bias here really shows through as you don't go to any lengths to discuss the positives of the figure.

You could always start off wit explaining how this is a modern version of Star Convoy, or how innovative the remote transforming mechanism is, or that Prime combines with Overload and Jetfire in both bot and alt modes.

By the way, as you can see, I have since changed my point of view on Transformers Armada... What are the Bots one by one in your Picture again?? Please list them for us.. thanks CP..

Energon Ultra Magnus
Energon Optimus Prime with Energon Saber
Cybertron Delux Optimus Prime with Armada Skyboom Shield
CostCo Energon/Armada Optimus Prime
Armada Optimus Prime w/Jetfire & Overload
K-Mart Gold Christmas Optimus Prime
Powerlinx Armada Optimus Prime

I may have to get that set you picked up sometime. Honestly when I started with Armada, I didn't get a lot of the Japanese releases because I wasn't interested. It's kind of fun revisiting them now.

Yeah I need to get the original US release Prime, and then I need to get that K-mart Gold version, that is if I can find it..Any chance we can get some up close and personal shots of the Costco exclusive, that color scheme is wild!!!
Thanks for the listing again... ;)^

You know he comes with the yellow version of Overload here on the right:

Whoa!!! I never saw that before!!! Holy crap that is freaking cool!!! A Yellow Overload!! That reminds me of the Yellow RID Optimus Prime from Transformers Universe, who I will one day find and snag!! Dude you should get out the camera, take us some sweet shots, Please, please, please..  I gotta see what that Supermode looks like with the overload blasters, and his regular bot mode in those colors!! Curiosity has gotten the better of me..

Anyone else want to see this guy???

Skywarp 2, welcome to the Magna Convoy club. You will really dig the clear Magnus once you've got him in hand. You even managed to get yours a touch cheaper than mine, although mine shipped Australia to the UK which is the main reason for that.

You do realise of course that you are now never allowed to bring up the exclusives issue again, right? At only 1000 produced your new acquisition is actually rarer than any of this year's Botcon toys!:P

Cheers for confirming that the X Dimension Bumble was indeed only in this set. Cool recolour in it's own right, nice nod to G1 Perceptor.

Thanks for the welcome, I'm adding it to my sig..

Yes I agree... and that Whole Botcon Jibb I placed earlier was just that, a jibb.. I'm over the whole Botcon angst thing..But I still poke fun at myself every now and then, so if you guys see comments appear off and on.. it's all in fun.. :P

Nahhh... 124.00 for a very extremely limited exclusive of 2 giant main characters from Armada, with a complete x-Dimension Minicon set... it's not a huge amount of money, atleast not for something like that..

Back to some of the more choice Figures from Armada, We have the rest of the seeker crew...Lets start with my Name sake shall we:

Armada Skywarp Hasbro (2003):
Skywarp was a Hasbro exclusive in the Armada line who received no biography from them, but was later expanded upon by Dreamwave Productions.

Box Art:
Image
Image

His Jet mode was nice, an had the same gimmicks as Starscream..
Image
Image
The gimmick being the Minicon releases a set of Powerful launchers on the shoulders of the jet.. and Robot mode..
Image

The Robot Mode was superb, and I believe that the remold incorporated a little more articulation in some areas..as well as a completely brand new Head sculpt..
Image
Image
Image
Image

He did have a certain appeal for not being in the Armada Cartoon, which was a shame though because of his loyalty to Megatron, it would have been nice to see the Competitiveness over Megatron's attention..
Image
Like starscream his Left wing could become a sword..
Image
Image
Image

Skywarp's color scheme and remolded Head and articulation gave him a decided edge over the Previous Starscream release.. and his aesthetics looked wonderful next to Galvatron..
Image

The Armada version of Skywarp is an homage to the G1 character in his color scheme. Unlike the original Skywarp, the toy is a remold of Starscream rather than being a mere repaint.
Image

Armada Skywarp was redecoed into Universe Ramjet, who came with a redeco of Thunderclash and three additional Mini-Cons.

Armada Thundercracker (2003):

Armada Thundercracker was used in the television show as Starscream's Super Mode, instead of as a separate character as originally intended.
Image
Image

Same gimmicks with the shoulder launchers..
Image

When Starscream gets the upgrade he quotes: "I look like Thundercracker." This began a trend which was prominent during Transformers: Energon where Hasbro released toys that were repainted from another as a separate character with a different name even though the show depicted the repaint as an upgrade to the original character.
Image
Image
Image
Image

This was because the show's creators did not like to use repainted toys as separate characters. To cement the character of Starscream as being separate from the toy character he now looked like.
Image

The American version of the show added a line of dialogue where Starscream remarked that "he looked like Thundercracker", implying an off-screen character that Starscream somehow knew.

Image
Image
Image

Money Shot!!
Image

Thundercracker's Mini-Con is called Zapmaster who is a grey repaint of Starscream's Mini-Con.

Thundercracker's color scheme gave him a decided edge over the Previous Starscream release as well, because of the darker Blues.. and his aesthetics looked wonderful next to Megatron..
Image

Either way you can always portray Thundercracker as either the Upgraded Starscream, or as Thundercracker..as his box indicates..

Overall the repaints and Starscream are some of the best seekers from Transformers, and they really had great homages in the Dreamwave comics as well..

Wikipedia says that according to Dreamwave:

Dreamwave Productions

Thundercracker's only fictional appearance was in a flashback scene in the Transformers: Energon comic #30 and #31, as one of the Decepticons being led into battle by Scorponok.

While not much was known about Thundercracker, the Dreamwave Productions More Than Meets the Eye biography series filled in some of the gaps. It reveals that Thundercracker was one of Megatron's elite aerial troops, and was responsibe for training Starscream and Skywarp. Eventually he grew disenchanted with Megatron and disappeared. Resurfacing shortly before the battles on Earth, and now with a Mini-Con partner, he seemed to become a mercenary.

Like Starscream he can use one of his wings as an Energon blade and is a lethal martial fighter. However, in seeming reference to his original Marvel bio, his only weakness is his self-doubt.

Dreamwave Productions

While not much was known about Skywarp, Dreamwave's "More Than Meets the Eye" series established one extremely important fact - in the comics continuity he is related to Starscream. He is a grim and dangerous combatant with a near-perfect aim and an array of martial techniques. Unlike his treacherous relative he is loyal to Megatron; in fact the snide remarks of the other Decepticons about him getting his rank this way are the only thing that genuinely angers Skywarp. He is friends with Scavenger - a friendship complicated by the fact that, unbeknownst to Skywarp, Scavenger is actually a spy for the Autobots...
Image

Skywarp would be briefly seen in issue 12 of the Armada comic, guarding Megatron's latest secret weapon alongside Wheeljack and Sideways. He would later be seen at the end of the Armada comic celebrating Unicron's defeat.

Armada Skywarp made his only Energon appearance in a flashback in Transformers: Energon #30 we would see Scorponok leading Wheeljack, Predacon, Terrorsaur and Skywarp against the Autobots in an unidentified battle on Cybertron. In Megatron’s battle barge, Starscream warned Megatron to watch out for Scorponok as Thrust, Cyclonus and Demolishor piloted the barge.

Armada Skywarp also was set to appear in the unreleased issue 31 of the Transformers: Energon comic series.

So after thinking about the way in which these characters were recolored and released, and comic stories elaborated on them, it's almost as if they were mass produced Botcon Exclusives.. but they were Hasbro Exclusives.. pretty cool huh..

Love too see people with the same love for Armada as me.

Anyways I better get this done with, and I know people will hate me, but here's a review on Armada SideSwipe

If you ask any collector, to them, Sideswipe is a transformer that shouldn't exist, and it's original mold should be burned to hell. Other than that, he's a very realistic car, and i'm confident to say he may have started the Binaltech line(although he's nothing like a Binaltech. He's a Sedan, most likely a Nissan.

Image

Yes, it's lame, you can see his ugly head through the windshield, but it's not half bad. I'm gonna have to say the clear windows is a plus to Sideswipe. His Mini-Con Gimmick is pretty lame, but his mini-con is pretty cool(Nightbeat)

Image

Robot mode is pretty plain, it has alot of flaws in it. First off, his arms don't stand in place. Second, he's kind of a brick, and third, his head never stays forward.

Image

Transformation's a breeze, he barely has no feat, and his arm moves up if you put a mini-con on his back and push up. He has a dagger and a gun.

Image

It can be turned into a supergun. Surprisingly for being such a low-ranked character Armada he has hands that can hold the three legendary weapons, the Star Saber, Skybom Shield, and Requiem Blaster, while some Autobots including Blurr(who is Sideswipe's Idol) and Hoist cannot.

Image

Sideswipe isn't too bad for a collector, just keep him in his car mode and he should be fine. My only problem is that he's been remolded too many times. Twice in the Universe line as Treadshot and Oilslick, and in the Decepticon line as Runamuck. If you have the chance to get any of the four, just pick the one that's most appealing to the eyes. If I didn't already have Sideswipe i'd go for Runamuck as he has a pretty nice vehicle mode with the black w/ flames vinyls

I've always thought that they at least put in a bit of effort with Sideswipe as a homage to the G1 character. When Nightbeat is mounted on the Minicon port on Sideswipe's back it's reminicent of the jetpack that G1 Sideswipe had in the cartoons. Add to that the spring loaded forearms and there's your piledrivers. I'm not standing up for him too much, he's still ugly as hell and I quite ressent having to have picked up Treadshot to get Bendy Magnus when there hasn't been a single reuse of the Wheeljack mould, but at least the thought was there.

I agree, if you wanted to get Bendy magnus he should have been sold on his own..

Let us move on to the last "Big Badass Named" Bots here in the Armada series..I ofcourse am Speaking of Megatron and Galvatron...

Armada Megatron (2002):
Released in the first wave of Transformers: Armada toys, Megatron was packaged with the Mini-Con Leader-1 (Barrel in Japan), who transformed into a missile truck and a laser-pistol that Megatron could wield.

Image
Image
Image

This was the first time Megatron had been featured in a Tank format since his days in the Generation 2 Toyline, or Beast Wars Neo..
Image
the image above shows how much Hasbro and takara had gone in terms of a more simplified transformation..

Image
Image
Image

Packed with the largest number of action features and Mini-activated gimmicks in the entire line, Megatron featured multiple extending and flip-out platforms on his shoulders that the small robots could mount on and a ramp and claw to grab them and a "prison cell" in his legs. Plugging a Mini-Con into his turret activates a twin firing missile launcher with electronic sounds, while mounting the Mini-Con on the turrets other Powerlinx point activates machine gun noises.

Image
His left robot mode arm features a flip-out knife blade that does not require a Mini-Con to activate, and his main turret cannon fires pressure-activated missiles accompanied by electronic noises. His missiles and Leader-1 can also store in his shoulders in robot mode.
Image
Image
Image
Image

I wasn't too fond of how they just left his turret on his back as a huge backpoack, but then again he had alot of electronics packed in there as well.. I assume to keep up with the gimmicks on optimus Prime..
Image
Image

Finally, Megatron features an additional transformation that involves rotating his tank turret around to the front of his robot mode; by cranking a hidden handle on his midriff, the turret spins and unleashes a stream of electronic noises, and even speech, as Megatron intones "Decepticons, attack!"
Image
Image

Megatron also had a combiner ability with that of Tidal Wave.. in this format he looked as if he was inside of a flying weapons platform.. not bad at all...
Image
Image
Image
Tidal wave basically hooked on to the back and added fire power to the arms..
Image
Image

Part of me still thinks he should have been given an extra combiner to add to his legs...
Image

Armada Megatron is supposed to stand 22 feet 11 inches tall (698cm) according to the Armada video game, and his toy is 19cm tall (at the head). That's a scale of 1:37.
Image

Overall he's not that bad..
Image

Ofcourse I'm more interested in acquiring Galvatron!!!

Armada Galvatron (2003) :
Wikipedia Says...

Badly wounded in battle with the bestial Nemesis Prime, Megatron and several other Transformers were rescued by their Mini-Con partners. Bathed in the Mini-Cons' light, their armors were restored, their strength increased, and their colourations altered. In this new, more powerful form, Megatron chose to rename himself Galvatron.
Image
Image

As the remainder of the series played out, the Decepticons united with the Autobots to stop Unicron, and Galvatron and Optimus Prime had their final battle on the chaos-bringer's surface. Galvatron chose to sacrifice himself in order to end the circle of hate that powered Unicron, and plunged into the monster's maw, apparently destroyed as Unicron vanished in a flash. However, it transpired that Unicron had survived, badly damaged, and that Galvatron's Spark was trapped within him.

Image
Image
Image

A purple, gray and maroon re-deco of Armada Megatron, Galvatron retains all the original toy's features, except it now says, "The power is mine!" This figure is called Megatron Super Mode in Japan.
Image
Image
Image
Image
Image
Galvatron is packaged with the Mini-Con, Clench, a re-deco of Leader-1. American fiction treats Clench as a new character, a relative of Leader-1, whereas Japanese fiction present the character, there known as "Spark Barrel," as an upgraded version of Leader-1. Some "Bonus Pack" releases of this toy came with the Mini-Con Night Attack Team: Broadside, Fetch and Scattor as additional Mini-Cons.

He also could combine With Armada Tidal Wave, though he looked the best with Powerlinx Tidal Wave..
Image
Image
Image
Image
As far as this particualr Figure goes, i'm more incliuned to want to buy the Galvatron Redeco as aposed to the Megatron greens and purples..

Armada Megatron kills G1 Galvatron by shoving a sword through his chest.

That, is the definition of top-tier.

Megs: "I am Megatron!"
Galvy: "Megatron, Yes, I've killed many of you..."

minutes later...

Dead-ass Galvatron.

Galvy: "Megatron, Yes, I've killed many of you..."

minutes later...

Dead-ass Galvatron.

I hated that part, stupid Minicon sword!

OH as theymade Galvy in the Armada toon, they let the minicons say:
"This war must stop, no more killing!"
So they create Galvatron and super powered Starscream! #-o

But Armada Mebgatron is still a cool toy and design. Justz wish he had better articulation...

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

I agree, had Megatron Had better articualtion and a Super pants feature to place him on par with Prime, it would have been a really great toy.. as it is, it's just a really cool toy..

There was a small chance that they may improve him when they decided to do Megazarak.. but that was just a pipe dream...unfortunately..

There were a lot of good Armada toys. One of my favourite lines. It wasn't too difficult to get them over here either, which is always a bonus (or it that a miracle?).
To go back to the original post, the Armada Prime is pretty cool. Sure the trailer is not great, but few are. Even G1 Prime's was pretty basic. The only really cool bit there was the repair/missile firing robot thing stuck in there. I quite like having little battle stations for my mini TFs, probably because I got a lot of Micromasters as a wee lad, and this one is up there with the best of them.
I have the Powerlinx repaint, as I was too stingy to pay for the proper one when it came out, and then saw the repaint cheap. I call him Thunderclash. I got Powerlinx Jetfire as well, and he looks really good on his own (better than the red one) and makes super Prime even better. The pics here don't show it, but obviously you can use the Overload repaint from Energon (Ultra Magnus) instead, and combined with blue Prime and blue Jetfire it is a great big blue badass of a toy.
I will agree that the self-transforming feature on the trailer, whilst sounding good on the box, is pretty bad in practise. Still I did get shiny shiny Mini-con car. :D

Galvatron was not too bad either. Kind of a G2/BW hybrid in my eyes. The Megatron colouring put me off (as usual) but the purple and grey looked good. His Mini-con was cool, like a Targetmaster triple changer (or quad-changer, since he could look like a gun a couple of ways) and the mini-con activated gimmicks were more fun than on Prime. The big gun poking round his hips wasn't too bad a replacement for an arm-mounted cannon (of course you can always stick his mini-con on there as an arm-gun), and the storage areas in his shoulders was a good idea. Some more articulation and it'd be a really great toy.

I got Tidal Wave (in his original colours, not Blanka-fied, which just didn't make sense to me) mainly so I could build fat-suit Galvatron, but ended up liking the bot more on his own. He's a giant and the idea of the three vehicles joining together into both a vehicle and robot mode was interesting. I'd probably have liked it better if each piece was its own robot too, but it works ok as is, and the armour gimmick wasn't too bad. Just a shame they didn't make Megs/Galvy taller.

Not sure which other's I have from the line, I'll have to dig them out again soon, but obviously got Unicron, and there's a lot to say about him too. He's a good figure and I was just so glad to finally be able to buy a Unicron toy that I overlook some of the lesser qualities, all-in-all though that's still one of my favourite TFs.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

If you can find him, the best version is the Japanese version of Tidalwave (called Shockwave). The paint details are amazing on this figure and much better than the US release. Apparently Hasbro felt there was "too much purple" in the toyine so they changed it up. While the toy does suffer from the lack of knee joints it is really imposing as a large engine of destruction. pair them up with the X-Dimension Sea Minicon Team and you have a purple powerhouse that Grimace and Barney would love.
