As I've stated before, if this series is tied to G1, then explain how the Witwickys have been alive and ageless for 100 years! G1 season 3 took place in 2006/2010 in the 21st Century, this series is set in the 22nd Century. That cannot be explained.

Easy.

Those arent the witwickys. Just someone dressed in attire that resembled what the witwicky's wore in the original movie.

I know they're not, but who's to say that Ratchet, Megs, and Screamer are the same?

Ratchet is dead, Screamer's a ghost, and Megs is who-knows-where after the G2 manga ended, but he's still a tank.

Besides, Ultra Magnus is not the same for two reasons: He's dead (there was a whole episode about it) and this guy's Supreme Commander, something that would NEVER happen.

:sigh: Look, I was thrilled to see the G1 footage used in the first episode as a treat for the older fans, but now I'm regretting its use because all its done is cause so much confusion. It's like the RiD dispute all over again. :BANG_HEAD: And that was confusing enough, what with Takara's attempt to retcon it into G1 with their timeline and Kiss Players stories. (:|

When I watched the first 1/2 hour, I was cringing. I thought, "Good God, help us." Then I watched a little bit more and thought, "Wow, they put Starscream in character!" Optimus, my favorite Transformer of them all, looked so "off"...

Now mind you, I thought it was "okay"..not good, not bad, just "okay". The animation had such a juvenile feel to it but I forgot that the Transformers are trying to win over a new legion of fans while trying keeping the older fans happy...like trying to find a happy medium.

It was.."okay"...

Just watched the whole episode, and I must say that i'm totally amazed. Can't wait for more. The only way i can watch more episodes is Youtube, because Animated will probably be aired a few months later, but with polish dubbing, wich i hate.

And yes. I've already scheduled wich toys i'm going to buy.
Bumblebee
Lockdown
And perhaps Megatron, if there will be a deluxe of him.
This not badass. It's so BAD, it's ASS!

I'll take this animation over the stuff we've seen in the past couple series anytime. Armada, Energon, Cybertron, had no depth. And honestly, I hated the story and the scripts. G1 had many stories other than the 'Bots batteling the "Cons. (Defending the giant roach) I think they'll be able do more and we'll see alot of character development....
just my thoughts on it....

Before this turns into some lame flame war -- which I'd like to avoid, considering most of us are here posting because we loved the show -- let me just say that calling people "gullible" is inherently an insult. You're essentially saying that people with a different opinion than yourself were stupid enough to be duped. That's the definition of gullible, which makes no sense in this context. So, maybe choose different vocabulary next time if that's not what you meant.

To your point about the Witwickys, it can't be explained off that bat, and I'm not going to make up my own theories. I would point out, however, that in the Transformers mythos, there has been time travel, resurrection from death, etc. So anything is possible. What's also possible is it was just a nod to fans. Something else that's possible is that Animated is taking pieces of G1 continuity and abandoning others. We'll see.

I always thought the word "gullible" meant that it was easy for a person to believe something right off the bat, whether it's true or not. If that was the wrong word choice then my bad.

And cool sig AutobotJazz. Is that a real car, or an extensive digibash?

Woah, something weird just happened. I clicked the "Post a Reply" button to reply, but I had to double-check something on a previous post and clicked Back. I looked at the post and then clicked Forward to go back to the Post a Reply page. BUT, I was taken to a whole different page that looked like a mix between the Forum Search page and the Post a Reply page, but with purple and green text. What was that?

I agree. I think G1 and Animated have the same history until Megatron kills Sentinel Prime in G1. Obviously Sentinel Prime is alive in Animated, so I'm thinking he, like Optimus in the Movie, shot the Allspark into space, and then faced off against Megatron. Maybe he got a boost of Allspark energy before he shot it into space, but however he did it, he managed to beat Megatron. Defeated, but hoping to find the Allspark, Megatron led his Decepticons into space to search for the Allspark, leaving Sentinel Prime ruler of a Decepticon-free Cybertron.

So with Sentinel Prime not dead, there was no need for Optimus to become Prime. I get the feeling that if Optimus wasn't always called "Optimus Prime" in all the cartoons and comics, that he wouldn't be Optimus Prime in Animated, he would just be "Optimus." Everyone knows Optimus as Optimus Prime, so they kept the full name more for name recognition reasons than true, in-story rank reasons.

So there we go. We have an Optimus that has the potential to be a Prime, to be the great leader we know and love from G1, but without Sentinel Prime's death, and with no war to fight and gain experience from, he's just the small-time leader we see in Animated.

Anyway, that's my take on things. It will be interesting to see if I'm right or not.

Overall, I love this show! It really is the best written since Beast Wars. :APPLAUSE:

I dont thing your theroy is possible since Sentinel Prime is not the supreme commander of the Autobots.Ultra Magnus is.

Ah, but Sentinel Prime could be ruler of Cybertron, while Ultra Magnus is in charge of the military. I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just saying I *could* be right. :P

The biggest flaw is the animation, particularly when it comes to the Humans and Earth in General. There is no doubt about it, the reason for this animation style is because its cheap. Overall the episode was okay but fails to produce any sort of geek fan boy reaction.
.

I thought the humans looked more like that Fosters show, either way, the story, not to shaby. The art, worse than I thought

I may be looking a bit too much into this, but has anyone else noticed something odd about Captain Fanzone?

The guy who wishes things were like the old days, doesn't like the new autobots, nor does he like anything new for that matter. His name being pronounced Fan-Zone, instead of Fazone.

Seems like Hasbro took a potshot at the "gee-wunners."

I don't know if I should be mad, since I'm also a "gee-wunner" or if I should laugh at the blatant joke they made him out to be.

I've watched it twice now (I love Tivo!) and I dig it...I could do with less human interaction, but I know I'll have to deal with that. Starscream is the only one I was hoping would be a total bad arse and he delivered so all in all I'm happy with it.

I enjoyed it. The animation isn't anything to cheer over, but I can deal with it. I really wish they had switched roles between Sentinel Prime and Ultra Magnus. To me, it would have been better to have Magnus as a high ranking officer and Sentinel as Commander, but I suppose I'll get used to it.

I have to admit I was disappointed in Blitzwing. I was really psyching myself up to see him again, but his second face/personality was annoying (Austrian body-builders, anyone?) and the third face/personality was utterly stupid.

Blackarachnia, on the other hand, was quite nice, and Starscream was everything I could have asked him to be.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this series. Right now, it merits further watching, and it has potential to be very good once the plot starts rolling.

Not having taken the time to read all 15 pages of posts I am going to stick my neck out for the few folks who posted that they did not get to see it and throw the time of the next showing out there. Sat. Dec29 at 10:30 A.M. If this was already mentioned, it wont be the first time I've gotten on somones **it-list on this site so go ahead and let me have it, but like I said, I didn't have time to scan 15 pgs of postings.
Due to an emergency, I too missed the show but would like to thank all who posted feedback. This doesn't spoil anything for me, in fact it makes me more excited to watch. I'm encouraged to see so many peoples negative opinions turned around.

Correct....he even did the narrating commercials for Armada.

That wasnt the impresion I was left with after Optimus spoke with Sentinel.Seemed to me like they were old school mates and rivals.

Sentinal: Optimus Prime....you meen they still let you command other Autobots???
Optimus: dont start Sentinal, just put me trew to Ultra Magnus
Sentinel: now how can a 3rd. rank rock buster possiably merrit the Autobots supreme commander's attention.
Optimus: Display cargo hold visual
