So, I have a decision to make. I now have 2 Masterpiece Hounds, but I don't need two. I have to choose one, and I thought I'd open it up for discussion.

First, comparison pictures.

So we can clearly see the differences, now what do we think?

For me, Willis has more accessories, and looks a little more "Masterpiecey", but he feels very delicate, the transformation is very tight, and I'm constantly afraid I'll break something. He also can't carry all of his accessories at once.

Gundog doesn't look as good, but he is much, much more solid. He has less accessories, but what he does have, he can carry in both modes. He is more fun to play with.

That may be the thing. I like to play with my MP figures. I don't just leave them on the shelf. Willis is a display piece, but Gundog you can play with. Perhaps my mins is already made up?

My gut reaction just based on the photos is ... Gun Dog.
I have no explanation. Just first glance gut reaction. They both look reaally good, but something about Willis's legs are off to me.

That being said. When you say one is "more fun to play with". I think the answer is clear.

I prefer Willis' legs, but really don't like how the front fenders don't raise for bot mode.

Gundogs thighs are too thick, and I don't like the wheels on the side of his legs. Willis' wheel integration is brilliant.

They're both losers!

Not at all my dear Denshy. The official will almost always be my representative on my shelves. And it might sound silly, but that even goes if it's inferior to a 3P.

For me, 3P is to fill gaps, not replace

I like the look of Willis, but if you can actually play with Gun Dog he is the winner!!

I've just gone through my first attempt at fixes for Apollyon, because of the fact that I want to play with him more.

If I jump further in to Third Party, I don't know if I'll make it out alive!! :shock:

Just based on pictures I'd go with Willis. But if he is truly that delicate then definitely go with Gun Dog. Visually I just find Willis to be more cartoon accurate, but they are both beautiful.

Also, since we're on the MP discussion, I have a question. I've been REALLY wanting Soundwave but he just cost so dang much. Does $230 shipped sound reasonable to you guys? Is he worth that price?

well the takara one has been ko'ed, and it goes for 100 which is the ko version.so your best bet is the hasbro which is about $120 to $140 i think

Starscream Sunstorm (the version I have) is a lot more complex, and is what you'd normally expect from an MP, but it kinda gets annoying at some points (plus, those stupid back wings that pop off if you so much as look at him funny). Shockwave is a lot less complex, and I would say that he's more fun.

the hasbro version of starscream was the latest release and is a bit tighter. the only thing with the seeker mold is that they arent very posable

Take this with a grain of salt, as I tend to be a bit of an elitist, but Shockwave doesn't live up to the MP name. He just doesn't seem like that much of an update from the original toy. Not to say its bad, just not quite worth the money. He is kinda fun.

Starscream (mp-11 mold) however, is a true work of art. Go for it!

To add my two cents, I like MP Shockwave. He's fun, looks great in both modes. I never had the G1 so I can't compare, but looking at him as he is he's really awesome.

As for the seekers, I have two in the MP3 and one in the MP11 variety. I wish they were better, specifically I wish the MP3 versions stood up properly as I like them aesthetically more.

I still think my favorite MP may be Wheeljack. Everything just fits together so nicely.

I wasn't all that wowed by Shockwave either. HE looks great in bot mode, and it's fun to pew pew with the pistol, but he just didn't give me feels the way other MPs have. I like having him mostly because the playing field is unlevel betwen Cons and Bots.

I have the same Sunstorm That N has and I will say that all the issues that figure has were resolved in the Hasbro Starscream release. Something about that release really nailed it. I know he doesn't come with all the bells and whistles, but if you can find that figure for a good price, I say move fast. He is well worth it and will be a great 1st experience with that mold.

Shockwave will be around for a while and I bet his price will stay put for a while too.
