The Hasbro art for Ultra Prime isn't the same as the Ultra Prime on the back of the box.

Most significantly, his right arm is Firefly in Dragstrip's colors.

Which is just so bizarre that I want it in plastic.

Always looked more like an obvious Blastoff in blastoff colours. wings are on the legs, single tailfin not folded back on the outside of the arm.

And his left arm is Alphabravo in Vortex' colours.

*and* his right leg is Air Raid, who wasn't even in wave 1

*AND* his left leg is Skydive in Firefly's colours.

I remember hearing that they had originally only planned the line to last a year, so things they were going to do got extended out into 2 years.

That's why so many of the bots we're getting are repaints, they're basically filler waves to pad out the line because it's selling so well.

Maybe the Onslaught Scattershot wave was originally planned to be Wave 4 2015 and that's why Ultra Prime's original art has Vortex and Blastoff in it. It's a remnant of the original plans for 2015.

I wish I could remember the source where I heard that rumour, but there's so many of the damn things hanging around now it's hard to keep track.

I remember that rumour as well, at the least the part about it being extended. You could try dredging the combiner wars thread.

Though I can't wait to see what other surprises are on the horizon. Though ill accept reality that I'm not going to get a updated magnaboss combiner yet.

Leader class Violin Jiger. although at this point i'd settle for a redeco of beast wars Tripredacus

combiner wars Abominus, Predaking, and Piranacon (and they could easily be retooled from each other, with some bonus Monsterbot retools tossed in for good measure)

Leader Class Broadside, with potential retools being Tidal Wave or Flattop

Generations Micromasters.

the Thirteen. could easily be done in two waves of product with 8 being deluxes 1 legends, 3 voyagers and a boxset release for Nexus Prime

Generations DJD, Rung, Bob the Insecticon, Riptide.

voyager class Galvatron and Rodimus Prime for generations.

Masterpiece to be mass retail instead of tru exclusive.

At least with Micromasters, a lot of them have some AMAZING homages, particularly in the movie deluxe line.

I have found that looking outside the typical line you look at can open up options for a shelf.

For instance, Age of Extinction Construct-Bots did a great take on an unreleased G2 Grimlock and I think it fits in fairly well on my Generations shelf.

Combiner Wars Rodimus as the Japanese Star Convoy's Micromaster Hot Rod (like deliberate as Optimus Maximus is sculpted as an homage to his partner Star Convoy)

Transformers Movie Big Daddy (Actually designed with the intent of being released as a Generations toy)

Power Core Combiners Bombshock (The line is mostly full of G2 and Micromaster character updates. The Japanese redecos have even more G2 characters like Rapido. Japanese fiction places Power Core Combiners as a G2 prequel, taking place after G1 and before the neon upgrades in G2.)

Universe Treadbolt

Hunt For the Decipticons Oil Pan (Micromaster Skystalker)

Universe Stormcloud (Powerglide repaint)

Most of these figures are big (deluxe or bigger). Many are from movie lines. Most of the movie figures that aren't actually from the movies are designed to be a bit closer to the cartoons/Generations style, some are Generations repaints, and most are homages to obscure Transformers. They have a lot of these used to pad out the movie toylines and I'd never paid attention to them because I wasn't collecting the movie toys. Then I realized that outside the main movie characters, most of the movie lines are filled with homages that Hasbro probably thought were too obscure to sell as Generations toys but that kids would buy in movie packaging.
