Too Old for Transformer Toys

Postby Opt1mus Pr1me » Mon Jun 28, 2010 7:08 pm

I am 25 and I was picking up the Optimus Prime figure from the latest movie ROTF, this figure looks amazing! I was wondering am I too old to be picking up toys, what are your thoughts?

Well, I'm 23 and today I just bought Mindwipe. Imo you are never too old as long it's something you like. My dad doesn't buy TFs but he does buy other action figures and he's almost 60. I don't know if I'll always buy Tfs, but I know I will probably be into something not meant for my age group. It keeps me young at heart lol!

I'll be 25 later this year and will still be buying Transformers. I love mecha in general and they take up a lot of my shelf space. It shows my personality so it seems right to me.

No.

You're never too old to do anything you want to (within reason). Besides, if you think you are too old for toys, but still want them - they're now ornaments. ;)

I don't think asking this question here is the best place to get an unbiased opinion. Most of us here are adults, married, with kids, and we still buy and collect them.

If you like it buy it. If it interfers with your other obligations, like rent, and car payments, then maybe not.

But if you can afford it, go for it.

A good portion of people who visit this board on a daily basis (myself included) who grew up with G1 are in their 30's and buy many transformers every year.

I'm 37 and love TF's. I did stop after the Pretenders and Action Masters, but when G2 came out, I was back in. They had released some of the TF's I knew from '84. So I bought a few when I was 19. Then when BW went to the transmetal portion of the show, I began buying TF's again. I haven't stopped, and never will.

Hello,

I'm still new to the forums. I am 30 yrs old.

I got back into collecting with rotf leader prime. I am a big fan of G1. I have Masterpiece prime with battle damage displayed on my desk. He is a reminder for me to make sacrifices and excel to achieve my goals. Whenever I feel like it is too hard or maybe I should give up I look at Optimus and I get inspired and motivated and think, "what would Optimus do?", and I'm back on track. :-?

I get judged immediately by friends and family when they find out how much I love transformers and that I still collect them. If they think its childish, let them try to transform rotf leader prime from Robot mode to Truck mode. Prepare to watch them squirm. ;)

I also realize these are people I shouldn't waste my time with because they are narrow minded and judgmental. :-(

I do however feel an intangible bond with fellow transformers collectors especially in these forums even though I have never met them or seen them yet. But in general everyone treats you like an old friend right from your 1st post. This bond seems to extend to real life as well because I have randomly bumped into other collectors in the transformers section of various stores and immediately got into really good conversations. :D

These are just my personal feelings, opinions and experiences in the past year.

Praise Primus and pass the Energon

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFf.

Too old. Editor had it right: your money, your hobby.

My parents collect...everything. Is a piece of ceramic really better than my plastic toy? Intrinsically? No.

And I'm waaaaay older than you and still collect toys. My big happy find of botcon was a complete G1 Sixshot. So there, ageism!!!

HK, if it's too loud, you're too old. Wait. That doesn't even make any sense. :/

HAH! NO! I'm 30 years old, still watch the shows and movies, and buy the toys.

And what else? Wait for it... Play with them! That's right, I play with them. I don't care if I'm 30 or not. I'm growing older, not growing up.

!#$* that noise, lad.
