Eh. I don't know about some of these. I think Darkmount should have definitely been on this list. Good transformation. Extremely well articulated. And in tank mode, not only does his turret rotate, but the barrel can move up and down too. Something very rare among tank Transformers.

*checks Bludgeon that's boxed away* Oh god his cannon's all warped...
I always found him hard to stand up, actually. Bludgeon couldn't stay balanced on those weird feet of his. A shame, it's a cool design but I think it needed a bit more work.


I think my favorite tank would be PCC Heavytread, although I also quite like Deluxe Movie Brawl (even if his shoulders suck).

I love G2 hero megatron/Archforce/RID Bludgeon/Reverse Convoy

probably one of my most favorite TF tanks is cybertron defense scattershot. he has the only key gimmick i actually thought was worth while. awesome tank, awesomer robot mode literally bursting with weaponry. so. much. FUN

Those are cool toys, but I didnt see them as tanks, thats why they didnt even come up when I was jotting down all the possibilities. Defense Scattershot, the scout scattershot, stalker, G1 double dealer and defense red alert are all missile launcher army vehicles (I am sure there are more but I cant think of them right now). I was looking more at the traditional idea of a tank, with a single long cannon (insert penis joke here) whether it be of earth (like G2 Megs) or cybertronian (like WFC Megs) design.

Those two are good examples of tank transformers that I did think about and were on the list I was choosing from. But no, there was no love. Animated shockwave is awesome but for him morphing between robot modes. I usually stick to those and avoid his two alt modes which I find quite lackluster, and unapealing. It really looks like a robot on all fours and his head is right there with no face plate hiding it (unlike the great Armada Megs who was so close to making it). Same for Prime Shockwave. The robot mode is awesome, but the tank mode (which is a big factor in this list) looks like an afterthought. The arms and shoulders aren't concealed or integrated well and you have to detach his arm for the cannon to sit right.




Of all the tank shockwaves out there, I found DOTM to have the best tank mode, and I really love his transformation. He was a really cool mix of a classic character being reinterpreted for the movie line. Hence why he got an honourable mention.

My Top Five Tanks:

5: Generations Straxus (he's only a Half-Tranck, but a dammed good one with two perfect modes and a third Howitzer Cannon mode as well. But the whole "not technically a tank" thing puts him here.)
4: HFTD Hailstorm
3: Generations Blitzwing
2: Generations Warpath
1: Beast Machines Tankor

For sure, Will! I love alt he things you mentioned, from poseability to size, but I will admit I wi he had more useable fists instead of his claws, which can be awkward.

I think Generations Straxus deserves a spot on this list. That figure is just so well conceived, and exudes power. I remember buying him and thinking, "wow." I fiddled with that guy for days.

Also, the original G2 Megatron... I had that figure as a kid... sometimes, that's all it takes.

I agree with Warpath and Bludgeon. Two great tanks, though the new Megatron is up there too.

Straxus was a little fiddly imo, and wasn't quite a tank

missing shockwave and megatron

He has a functioning gatling gun,and working treads!

Ooooo, WFC Megatron is a good one as well. Great representation of that character from the games, and it's a great toy too.

Total waste of plastic: Any Megatron/Galvatron who turns into a tank...no tank you.

People hate this guy and I understand why; he is small for an update on the fearsome Galvatron (I wrote about that last time), and very complex and difficult for such a small toy, and the transformation will often have pieces coming off. I really find this toy to be its own little miracle of engineering with two gorgeous looking modes but that doesn’t mean I don’t wish we get a bigger one someday.

This just proves that people shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion.

No love for Energon/Superlink Brawl? Sure he has the duck feet going on, but he's a ridiculously fun little scout-class toy and his tank mode kicks arse.
