Not saying that at all. That's just your interpretation. Maybe I'm a simple minded individual, someone not capable of truly appreciating engineering greatness and as such appreciate simple figures like this.
Or you know, whatever.
You're free to be sarcastic and snide, or you know, whatever, but my 'interpretation' is based on:Burn wrote:People harp and moan about the "lack of articulation" on the individual Constructicons ... ummm McFly ... they have MORE articulation than their original G1 incarnations.
Besides for just having a "pffffff" response, I'd be curious to know how my 'interpretation' is wrong.
megatronus wrote:Burn wrote:megatronus wrote:I generally agree that it's too early to form cohesive opinions on the set barring in-hand evaluations. But you're taking that general sentiment to an extreme. Is it truly not valid to note the lack of arm articulation, which has been clear and apparent in all the pictures and materials distributed thus far? C'mon.
I look at the pictures and I see TWO figures with bad arm articulation.
Scrapper - To me this makes sense. His arms form the heel. They're a support beam, they need to be rigid. I firmly believe that at some stage during development they tried out elbows but found the weight of all those other bots made said elbows not strong enough to support the combined mode. Hence the rigid arms. If people are going to moan about that ... come on ... think about it.
Long Haul - I'll concede, no idea what's going on there, but I can only imagine like Scrapper, it's an intentional design purpose. You just can't really tell in combined mode.
The others look bloody well articulated TO ME. (And people can post all sorts of arguments you want but my opinion won't be shifting on that one)
To be clear, I'm not trying to change your opinions any. If they look good to you, great! I'm glad. Seriously. They look pretty awesome to me, too, and I look forward to getting them. But to me, the arm articulation for the Constructicons, who for all intents and purposes are ultra-sized, could be better.
Whether or not there's an engineering purpose will come out. But even so, that doesn't take away from the appearance of sub-par arm articulation - due to ball joints, Bonecrusher and Scavenger seem to be the only Constructicons with a wide range of arm motion.
We'll know soon enough.

Right off the bat, I have TFC Hercules whom I love and suits my needs almost perfectly. But this isn't a 3P versus Official debate, since I buy 96% of whats officially released whether I "need" it or not. Case and point: I have Intimidator but am still committed to Hasbro AND Takara's Menasor.
Devastator and the Constructicons he's composed of are very important to me. I'm willing to make certain concessions to accommodate an official Devastator even if it means he's a stand alone piece. Scrapper is my favorite, and when I saw Hasbro's I almost pooped myself.
His headsculpt is a thing of beauty. Very strong sculpting on the torso. But then his arms are strange, stubby, and awkward. And while his legs look decently supportive, the knee joints look barely connected like the rest of the Constructicons limbs.
So it was asked, who's buying this intending to display him un-combined? Well... I was. This doesn't mean I won't be buying HasTak's Devastator, it just means it will be with less vigor than some fans.

Sarcasm? Cause that's kind of the opposite point I was making. I'm not even saying that Herc's individual bot modes are the be-all-end-all for Constructicons, but they're stronger than CW's Cons (and fits the C/G aesthetic to a T in my opinion).LegendaryAntiHero wrote:cool. The individual combiners look as good as the Hercules ones

To each his own of course. Personally GG has far too many sharp edges, and alt modes are looking too realistic to fit my vision of C/G. And along with my vision, all Scramble City combiners should be roughly the same height, Devastator slightly bigger, and Predaking slightly bigger than him. So it's almost like Hercules was made just for meprjkt wrote:shajaki wrote:Sarcasm? Cause that's kind of the opposite point I was making. I kind of think Green Giant fits the classics-verse aesthetic more than Hercules, plus scales better with the "standard" CW combiners.

Think it's inevitable that a Third party will create replacement arms. With articulated elbows and wrist.
