I don't recall anyone else mentioning this on the forums. It appears that both Blackout and Ironhide employed the use of an Electro Magnetic Pulse during the film, shutting down all electronics within the blast radius.
I thought that was a really nice edition to the movie personally. Seems like a practical weapon for use on Earth, especially for the Autobots who aren't wanting to physically harm humans.

im not sure if that was an EMP blast that ironhide used. i think it was just somewhat of a blast thing that just knocked the cars a bit to make them stop so they didnt harm the humans. (this was the S7 part where they had to escape)

The shoot of Ironhide to S7 vehicles don't seemed a EMP for, while Blackout was, Iron's shoot seemed more a sort of vibrating blast or cinetic energy throught the asphalt...
Is the asphalt electrical conductor when putting it hot in the road, isn't it?
It rings a bell to me that once a guy died electrocuted because received a discharge of a lot of volts from a broken cable transmited via the hot asphalt when applying them...

hmm..that sounds like it makes a lot of sense but who knows if thats wut they did. but it looks like it is something from his cannon as it lights up blue and the blast is blue as well. if it was an EMP it would have blown the cars away..which it didnt.

I think it was to disable the engines, nothing more. Did anyone see any damage done to the cars? I didn't.
The real question is....why didn't Blackout use the blast cannon during the big fight? It sure took care of business at the base!

*Sigh*. He should've been much, much harder to take out. If he had only thought in his stupid little brain, "Oh yeah, what I use to destroy tank and airplane? Maybe it work now?"

Ah, I still love the old lug. I have his little die-cast self sitting next to my keyboard. He'll always be alive in my heart.
